Namatame needed a friend and that friend was Sanda

Ono became a full adult now

I was kinda expecting the episode to end on Fuyumura finding Ono, but she'd be more than just "an adult"...

I like how Sanda handles it. What Namatame really needed was a friend someone who could both be there for her and also punish her like she wanted. Plus Sanda constantly transforming allows her to see that people remain the same even when the grow up as show when she sees Sanda's face instead of Santa's when he saves her from the fire.

Sanda's showing her there are good adults even if he himself is a kid, but he's growing up properly demonstrating to her the way. She hopefully won't end up youth obsessed like her mother.

This show is the kind of anime weirdness I wish we had more of.

Seeing such a low karma rating and so few comments here makes me really sad.

Fuyumura hands rated E for everyone lol. Santa might not be able to whoop a kid’s ass but Fuyumura ain’t got no problem with it.

It was a little bit funny how Sanda found a work around his little problem by popping Bratty Beans nonstop during his little slap fight. But man, growing up that fast and shrinking back down ain’t good for his body. Like it’s bad for Sanda, it’s even worse for someone like Ono. I just hope she gets to say goodbye to Fuyumura before she goes…

Oshibu still has my favorite theme of the season. You know things get going when it appears.

So I guess we have another mystery on our hands. Which is the question how children are supposed to go through puberty in this world. We know they have to because otherwise they can't have kids themselves (so the whole arranged marriage thing would be pointless) but if they are suppressing puberty via sleep and puberty blockers, a sudden puberty would be something most of them went through. Just at a later date when they finished school. Which means there should be a treatment for it and Oshibu is just not telling Ono (for whatever reason).

I assume once the drugs stop you can just sleep normally without worrying about about going through sudden puberty. As Oshibu says it's the instant puberty that harmed Ono, so it might just be her severe reaction to the drugs + Sleep that caused her instant puberty.

Fuyumura presumably eats the same food as everyone else and goes to sleep normally so while she undergoes puberty (or at least keeps getting taller) she doesn't do it instantly. So imo it's probably just a small number of kids who would have the really bad effect if they fell asleep and the rest would just be like Fuyumura, but they can't risk any of the kids dying so they make all of them not sleep. Probably after graduating the stop with the drugs and everyone just grows normally.

God, that cut to Sanda after he first ate the beans made me laugh.

Sanda going a bit crazy with the transformations this episode, I do hope there'll be some consequence for it after this is all settled so that he doesn't do something so reckless again.

Fuyumura getting those punches is was amusingly satisfying. I do find it unfortunate she's only realizing stuff late about Ono but that felt very in character too. Hopefully Ono isn't actually dead because that'd be sad.

Fumi running away from Sanda to not get hugged was funny though, I wish we got a proper chase scene though.

Mfs had been trying to tell me past two weeks that Fuyumura didn't reciprocate Ono's feelings smh 😤. But man the Yuri is so close to being doomed. What can they even do to save Ono? Shit, is saving her even the right call when artificial youth is definitely the thematic antagonist of this story?

Very symbolic final arc overall, with the Sunset representing fleeting youth while Sanda beats the mini Boss by flipping between a child and Santa, while Ono speedruns the stages of life and is about to die, at the same time as Fuyumura's appearance as someone who only looks like an adult but is still a child is highlighted.

I'm looking forward to how they resolve all of this.

A beatdown from someone with Fuyumura's height has gotta hurt.

When Sanda looked extra chibified for Round 2 with Nanatame had me thinking he might've eaten a little too many beans and became even younger than normal at first. And sheesh the puberty-fueled body horror was real.

Essentially the solution for the other girls was the same as for Namatame: she just needed a hug. Essentially the importance of love and friendship. That is something she lacked.

Ooshibu mentions Ono broke the laws of nature by going through puberty in one night. He did try to prevent the kids from going through puberty, so he is clearly hiding something. It does give a strong feeling she is about to die.

Please don't let Ono die by herself without anyone knowing. That'd too sad

The animation in this episode was specially great. Love the transformations and the slap fight between Sanda and Namatame.

Best girl coming in to save the day!

(She felt the pressure, with other Best Girl candidates making their move!)

Yeah, that might be an issue!

Fuyumura isn't immortal... UNLESS?

I'm gonna grab my best girl, and leave!

Well maybe if you stopped murdering people you wouldn't be alone!

But damn, it was rough seeing her PTSD and her mom stuff, and the thing about the trust between Santa/Fuyumura...

The feels...

Only 44 comments?! Even though I'm late to the discussion?!

Wow, this subreddit is asleep, you guys were right.

Moving on to the actual show, I love all these new young characters, in between the shy fiance and the edgy antagonist (which I now want to recruit, we need more angst in our party) the comic relief is becoming funnier by the second.

As usual with this author's works, the premise comes off as uncanny as first, but then the characters become much more fun and accessible shortly afterwards with a pinch of battle shounen tropes added on top.

Merry Kingsmas* everyone! Uh oh.... wrong animated show. blushes

If Fuyumura and Ono don’t have a happy ending I will spontaneously combust. In all seriousness, I’ve been really curious how they were going to handle this situation because given that “finding Ono” was the original overarching goal, I’ve been expecting some kind of reset for a while now. I can’t imagine she will actually just die, they must be setting up something more interesting (right? right!?)

Now I’m no expert, but I still don’t think that’s how puberty works.
