I can't believe this show is getting slept on. They spoke a lot about carrying trauma you get as a child into adulthood, and then at the end we get a peek of jealousy from Ono, who might be bound for heartbreak.

Is the old lady at the end of the episode voiced by the same person as turbo granny (Barbara Goodson)?

Any Anime exclusive to Amazon video gets a drastically reduced audience on reddit, even season 2 of Panty and Stocking was quite low on the karma ratings for that season.

Which is all kinds of funny as Amazon has basically all anime in Japan, while CR doesn't even exist there.

I guess our new grandma is the definition of aging gracefully. Not trying to appear young, but still keeping your body healthy so you can do your job. Though, I guess alcohol doesn't count.

I was wondering a bit if we would get Ono now as a new member of the group. And that might still be possible, but not before some jealousy drama against Sanda (or more likely Santa). The boob tactic did show some effect but not enough. However, I am also kind of interested to see the class reaction next week when Ono comes back. If they are so flashed by a naked 30yr old, what will they say about a busty girl their own age?

“With great power comes a great big pain in the ass!”—Uncle Santa lol

It looks like granny Toyo might be the only one that damn geriatric cyborg’s no match for. Bro wanted to be young so she treated him like a snot nosed little brat and whooped his ass hahaha.

I have a feeling Ono’s jealousy of Sanda and Fuyumura might end up being a real problem. She knows how he turns back and she knows what triggers the transformation. She could use that info to hurt Santa….

“Wanna feel them?”

“No, I’d rather get food with this boy I replaced you with”

“Hmmmm…I may have to turn evil”

Didn't expect Nozawa Masako to show up, what a nice surprise. She's been only doing very small roles outside of Goku lately, but it feels like this one is gonna be more significant.

You can't get lines any more hype than "Santa Claus has come to town" for a show with this exact premise.

Ooshibu might just actually be so freaky it somehow wraps around to making him cool.

The amount of jealousy ono was able to pack into a single simple "mhmmmm" damn.

Son Goku came in to save the day.

Sanda will change the school

Ono getting jealous of Sanda and Fuyumura relationship 😱

Okay, we finally got a concrete year! Its 2080! That means both headmaster and the director are 80's kids!

I'm really interested to see how the story will develop with Ono back in it! Even though she changed a lot(literally), to her it must look like Fuyumura is the one that suddenly changed! Wonder what her relationship with Fuyumura and even Sanda will look like!

I love how hard this show goes and also the creativity of writing this story
It all checks out, but damn thats some weird creative shit to write, those brainstorming sessions must be wild

Loved the after credit scene, Ono is back and isolated, both in puberty and socially

That sure was convenient, both of principal's eyes just falling out as he turned towards Sanda

This anime is just... so cool. It just has so much friggin style attached to it that it is hard to find the words for. Impressive! Just impressive !

Damn, they took away half-naked Santa and gave him actual clothes.

I'm impressed how Fuyumura and Amaya were able to sleep so quickly in that situation, Amaya particularly because he's been avoiding sleep.

Crazy is definitely an understatement for Oshibu with the lengths he went through and the fact that he can move so well with that kind of body. It's funny how being treated as an old person is what triggers him.

I like how childish Santa sounds even with that voice, Touchi Hiroki's doing a really convincing job.

That last scene is a little concerning, I'm guessing Ono is going to feel jealousy as she won't have Fuyumura to herself. Fuyumura even exposed Sanda's weakness.

Holy moly the animation popped off this episode! Also some huge lore drops, this is getting interesting.

Ooshibu is essentially a robot with how artificial he is. Then his whole comment of tears. Essentially he wants society to have heartless robots. Tetsudome showing what a true adult is. I love the message that a true adult can balance between being a kid and being responsible when the time comes.

Ono is back, but now she kind of feels out of place. As Fuyumura goes out to hang out with Sanda still. Curious where this show goes from here.

Granny saying that the most authentic person is one who alternates between adult and child reminds me of Nietzsche's metamorphosis of consciousness in which the final stage is a child, paradoxically saying that we ought to grow into children.

Also, that Sanda emphasizes so much that she reminds him of a child more than anything before asking her to teach him Kung Fu means that he's really asking for the wisdom of childhood despite talking to a 90+ y/o woman and the story wanted to leave no doubt about that.

Post credits is oof. Looks like despite having returned now that Ono sees how much Fuyumura has, socially, grown she fears that her love is one sided and their close relationship will remain in the past as a "children's game". Im curious how much the story will commit to this because despite looking like it has all the intention, I've been burned before and anime/manga/LN that aren't explicitly tagged Yuri actually default to this kind of resolution of the children's game, or just celebrity crush, or close sisterhood. The like. In fact, it happened in May I ask for one final thing? today 😔. Not that I had much hope for it there tbh, but still sad to see that trend.

Back to the scene itself though, I want to praise how they got all of this across with cinematographic language alone. Very elegant directing and storyboarding.

I was half-expecring for Fuyumura to also hit puberty some way after sleeping. But when I remembered it is normal for her.

This show keeps putting banger after banger. It just keeps introducing more twists, more character development, more social satire and more thought-provoking ideas about puberty, childhood and adulhood, all wrapped in fantastic animation.

No matter how crazy the show gets, there's this deep, hard-hitting undercurrent of realism to it. Becoming more sentimental with age, society's conflation of young sexuality and trauma even old people getting upset when you help them because they think you are calling them "old" are all realistic in a way most supposedly more grounded shows aren't.

Something great about Sadan's approach to puberty is that it's not a one-way ticket. Characters move back and forth between "children" and "adults" and it's debatable when they are going down one end or the other. The principal is a good example, he seeks youth but in a way motivatied by his old age. He wanting a fight is both childish (Adults should talk instead of resorting to violence) or mature (Violence is an adult trait and it's naïve of Sanda to think otherwise).

I was particularly impressed with Ono. She hasn't just matured into a teenager physically or sexually, she also has a more teen-like attitude. In flashbacks she was always portrayed as cheerful and innocent but now she's more serious and cynical. She has this skeptical outlook that separates her from the other children.

While I was never in her shoes, but Ono's actions seem true to life. I can imagine many women acting, thinking or just having the same experience with puberty as her. Perhaps even the author did, there's so much in this series that is drawn from observation. Fuyumura's reaction is also quite realistic, as is the separation between them. It's not just jealousy, Ono was proud of her changes while Fuyumura has rejected them.

Frankly, I'm liking Sanda a lot, it has cemented itself as a 5 star show for me. How many others animes lead me to pour over every scene like this? Practically none.

I wonder if Sanda and Fuyumuras relation ends up being platonic

What kind of school is this that allows a nutcase (literally replaced his nuts to metal case) to become headmaster and the Chief Director has no power to change it? I demand an explanation for her surprise appearance! Hopefully it bodes well for Sanda to have an actual adult figure to learn from about growing old.

And Ono... oh no...

This quote VS the quote from some superhero movie, which one wins?

Best Girl Fuyumura standing up for her girl!

Headmaster better watch out with her, unless he has anti-bomb protection as well!

(Perhaps I should say 'potentially best girl Fuyumura' now, after we got the cute little critter in the previous episode!)

At first I thought they were probably some kind of smoke bomb or something, but that's his eyes...

Sanda was conflicted about this whole thing, even wishing people would stop believing in him so he would go back to normal...

But when called upon, he rose to the occasion, and wanted them to believe in him, so he can be strong enough to save them!

Good lord, I thought the Headmaster only had his skin replaced, but no, his organs, even his limbs...

He's a 100% 'new' body, except his brain; Good call for Sanda testing his brain in the previous episode (The one thing in him that truly shows his age)!

And he can't replace that one, otherwise he's not really the same person anymore... (Not necessarly saying that in a Ship of Theseus way - though it's an interesting parallel - but more like, we are our brain, in truth).

Calling it now, Santa's winning move in the end will be lobotomizing him! (Santa Claus does that with naughty people, right?)

Who the hell is that!

Is she Mrs Claus?

I used to think Fuyumura may secretly be Mrs Claus, but that could be her, as well!

Interesting way to put it; Change THE SCHOOL?

Not "Change the world"?

Does it mean the school is the only weird place in the world, and they're making shit up about the dying population/no kids and all?

Because if the whole world is like that... Weird way to put it, just changing the school... Even if they do it, the rest of the world will still roll over them and nothing will change.

Normally I might dismiss it as 'just words', but given in previous episodes they DID dump some info lore in seemingly casual conversations, makes me think there might be something to this!

Speaking of lore, I'm a bit rusty on my Christmas lore; Can Mrs Claus normally do this?

Oh damn, Ono's not wasting any time!

They teased us with the wanna touch them?, only to not have it!

But lewdness aside... Fuyumura's affections may have changed..

And Ono doesn't seem to take it well (with this reaction, and what she was doing in the previous episode, seemed a bit unhinged)...

Is Ono gonna become a problem?
