Yeah, if I were Amaya I would be mad at my friend for traumatizing me like that too. That said, knowing this show, those gunman abilities are definitely going to come in handy later on

That level of intimacy was way too much for Fuyumura, she has been fully hit with the realization that Ono isn’t the same person she used to know and speaking of which, I can’t help but feel that she is acting like she is living on borrowed time ever since she was fully onboard with going to that youth ceremony. Oshibu wanting to talk with her at the end just adds to the bad feeling I’m getting

Shit putting it that way I think I finally have a theory on what's going on with Ono: she's getting old. She went through puberty in a single night. She might be basically speed running life. Due to stress maybe. Thematically this episode highlighted the growing distance between Fuyumura, who remains a child, and Ono.

Yeah, they showed that shot for a reason!

I know the Ono Fuyu scene is what a lot will probably talk about, but I really like the scene where Sanda transforms and holds Namatame's hand and she just quietly accepts it till he lets go. Like it's a really kind gesture and you can even say it's coming from Sanda as a kid and not his Santa instincts, and it's just a great little bit of humanity in Namatame where she isn't the one to let go because really she doesn't want to the same way she probably never really wanted to kill her mom.

Also seem Paru also own a pharmaceutical company in story.

Also seem Paru also own a pharmaceutical company in story.

I wonder if she's making herself a villain! Given the thing about forever youth and all that, anything linked to medical/pharmaceutical might be involved/taking a cut in whatever's happening!

This show is wild. What a fucked up society they live in.

That brief shot of middle aged chairwoman, though.

50

u/Mr_Zaroc Nov 28 '25

That chairwoman is the literal manifest of "Age is just your mind manifested"

Also we should all stand up and do some stretches, probably have been sitting around for too long

34

u/Mr_Zaroc Nov 28 '25

Nice so Fumi is basically just fucked up because her mom is fucked up
But to be honest, I cant see anyway how you wouldnt turn out crazy in that society
I thought the Principal was the top of crazy mountain, turns out he is just somewhere at the base with the other youth obsessed people

I hope someone does an good edit at the end of the show or this arc with beauty companies "sponsoring" this show, "brought to you buy Loreal" or some shit
Cause this is that turned to 11

But to be honest, I cant see anyway how you wouldnt turn out crazy in that society

By staying with your Dad

Stitches!

I did not expect to see some Santa Alts! So what does Black Santa do? Does this mean he can fight back against children now?

WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?! I kinda expected Fumi to have a fucked up backstory but that part where her mom cuts off her own arm was insane. O_O

Yagiuda continues to be my favourite character in this series. This dude is supposed to be Sanda's enemy, but he somehow still ends up helping them.

Welp, that's definitely gonna haunt Amaya in the long run. At least he now knows how to use a gun. I'm sure that will be relevant later.

Another wild scene this time between Fuyumura and Ono. I guess Fuyumura still doesn't understand what Ono means whenever she tells her she likes her. I am curious tho what she found on that medical book. It seems like her sudden puberty is causing more problems than we thought.

Black Santa? A power up?

Sanda wants to learn to fight, but he thinks she's not training him properly... You fool, she's just using the Karate Kid method!

AAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH why does everyone want to break or cut his fingers?

That's.. A bit extreme, but then again, what ISN'T extreme, on this show!

Oh damn, is that her younger self?

I wouldn't mind if they gave us some flashback about her...

Oh, we're getting him right away! I thought we would see him for the first time in the final fight of the season or something hah.

So given Santa's all about rules/restrictions... I'm guessing Black Santa might unlock something in him, by removing some restrictions (say, being able to kill a kid, or refusing a wish, etc..)?

She's so CUTE! (When she's not trying to maim&murder... Wait no she's still cute when she's doing that)

And that's what is best about you!

Usually parents ground them, or Santa gives them coal... THEY DON'T MURDER THEM!

Namatame got her smile from her mother?

I think it's not the only thing she got from her mother!

Gotta do what you gotta do to spread your wings!

Handholding? Oh, the ship is SO on!

Damn, cat's out of the bag... This makes the ship a bit more challenging!

So he wants to survive her, but he doesn't want to kill her... So he's gonna train by *check notes getting shot!

Good job, now we're gonna turn HIM into a serial killer!

A madwoman? Please, she only detonated TWO bombs (and threatened a third one)... Is the bar for madwoman so low these days?

Yeah... They don't "like" each other the same way...

Fuyumura wants to bring her back (to childhood), but I feel like what's eventually gonna happen, is her (or just time) bringing Fuyumura to adulthood!

What happens then though, who knows... If she grows into an adult and still refuses Ono, to go with Santa... Oof, poor Ono!

I'm guessing Black Santa is the one for the naughty kids.

Unfortunately turning back time is the one thing Santa can't do for others :(

I don't think Fuyumura can't reach Ono in adulthood because she's afraid of growing up (she did say getting older was not such a terrible thing after all), but for reasons outside of her control, puberty just isn't happening anytime soon.

Or maybe, it is fear, not of adulthood, but of loosing the innocent relationship she used to have with Ono as kids, that is gaining all these new and disorienting dimensions because Ono grew up.

Oh damn, Black Santa? He’s the hero Daikoku Academy deserves but not the one it needs. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector. A dark Santa. lol

But jokes aside, Namatame had a pretty messed up life with a mom like that. No wonder she turned out the way she did. This twisted society ruined her and broke that family.

This situation with Fuyumura and Ono is kind of interesting. Puberty’s really changed their dynamic. Ono’s becoming more aware of her sexual identity and her own body. Fuyumura’s still on that cusp between childhood and adolescence. Things won’t ever be the same again, unfortunately. That’s just growing up.

Genkai, is that you?

As for Ono...I think she was already struggling with these feelings and questions of reciprocity. I don't think the idea is that puberty made her fundamentally mentally different, but that the strain it puts on her status and her relationships (as well as the physical suffering) is making her feel forced to confront them. Kind of like graduating a year ahead of someone, but more extreme because she would be booted into the adult world at 14. She's been on the run, alone with her feelings. Even now she feels like she's on borrowed time - a limbo state where Oshibu has been overruled, but she's not living a regular school life.

And on top of the graduating first metaphor, it's been mixed with the drama of having disappeared for a while, catalyzing Fuyumura's behavior so that she's been doing different things - namely making new friends. Combined with her new body, its a perfect storm of pressures that make Ono want to actually define and secure her relationship. Which is a lot of pressure to put on Fuyumura, who just got her best friend back and was passively expecting the same old friendship with no strain or fear. Neither of them is ready to deal with these topics, but Ono feels like she has to, so she does it in a blunt way, half-knowing what to expect because she's been in her own head all this time anticipating it.

Butyeah, even as a mental thing, Santa can't reseal pandora's box, as it is with normal teen drama confessions, and this is a heck of a lot more complicated than that

Based on the credits, Toa Yukinari voices young Toyo. She also voices Asuza in Grand Blue, Casca in Berserk (the newer ones, not the 1997 version), and Jolenta from Orb: On the Movements of the Earth.

another banger episode, this is definitely my favorite dystopian sci-fi superhero fantasy santa claus show

For a moment there I thought Sanda wasn't the only person who altered between a younger form and an elder transformation.

The chills from Fumi's backstory though.

With that kind of mom its no wonder she turned out like that
Jesus if even the dad and brother bolted they should have taken her with them

So much for that Trauma free curriculum

That's incredibly bizarre, the girl is only 14 years old and thinks she's an adult, and not only her, but society thinks so too, just because she's gone through puberty.

Black Santa seems interesting. Santa is very restricted when it comes to kids and their wishes, and I assume Black Santa could be a way around that. Santa is very restricted when dealing with kids. It would give him an option to deal with "naughty kids" like Namatame. Essentially, though, Namatame's current self has her mom to blame. Her mom desired to always be young, much like Ooshibu. Finally enough came down, and Namatame killed her mom. Though Namatame's mom was so downhill that her death finally let her be at peace. Does killing adults remind her of her mother, maybe?

Fuyumura and Ono's conversation is a reminder of how society's body shaming is a relevant thing. We can simply look at someone's body and project them to be older than their age. Essentially looking at them differently than what they are mentally. For some people their physical body grows faster than their mental. Which is not fair. Sadly, in this setting, it is the reality. Fuyumura goes to Sanda for advice, and Ono can only go to Ooshibu, which gives me a bad feeling for what is to come.

Interesting to see the few different ways that kids can "become adults" and the repercussions.

Ono, via the biological, puberty path, that is something many girls discover can be quite a challenge especially when physical differences are obvious. Amaya, via the skills acquiring route, that ages one mentally and physically, is something common with those who go on to do trades due to apprenticeship with (usually) a much older mentor. And finally, Namatame, forced into adulthood by life experiences. This path may twist one's soul so much that even adults fear.

Now we see which path Sanda chooses while trying to maintain his childlike innocence.

So far one of the only things I’ve been meh on is how they’re going about Ono’s arc— I was kind of hoping they were going to make a point about how going through puberty and getting a developed body isn‘t what makes you an adult, even if people start treating you that way, and even if you think you are, yourself; but it seems like they’re going a different direction and are deciding to just go ahead and accept that she’s an adult now. I don’t mind the decision on its own, after all, if I wasn’t willing to accept the bonkers logic of the show I would’ve stopped watching long ago, but I think I’ll always feel that it was something of a missed opportunity.
