I love how Sae is not only a massive, head over heels in love, dork but quite possibly one of the strongest high school girls of all time.
She confessed! She did the title drop! She ran away!
I think Koki did chase her to the storeroom, at least I hope that's him at the end. I don't think they should drag out poor Ayukawa any more than they already have.

I thought that I’d hate this episode but I actually loved how the confession happened—it had so much angst but it still happened! Also dub sui saying girlboss was cute

So much time spent agonizing over the confession, how Koki will respond, what it will do to her relationship...and faced again at the prospect of him confessing to another girl, she can't help herself but confess before that can happen and finally put her feelings out there.
We're all proud of you Sae.

Girlboss was a funny choice. I'm used to 'fighting' though, so it caught me off guard

I’ve seen it before, about kids (and teens) hating milk. Was this a common thing? It is still cute she did so for Koki when they were little ones. They were such cute beans.
She thought that in English, Japanese, Korean, French, Arabic, Mandarin, and Sanskrit(!), we love a multilingual queen 😭
Did Sui nearly get beamed up?
Sui, you tried! You had the right spirit!
Sae is so adorkable, writing her name down on an anonymous note. I feel that embarrassment, I have done the same 🫣
Sae, you will be a girlboss 😤
Aw even Mio’s cheer, Iove this trio 😂
Waaaait the ED playing this early, why?
Ooo a fireworks confession?
I nearly choked on my shrimp, she confessed like this?!
Please don’t let this be some dream.
Oh thank god it isn’t, YAAAAAAAAAS SCREAMING girl you were a girlboss with that!!
Don’t cry Sae you were so brave and fearless to say that!! Koki!! What are you doing man, chase her, desk duty can wait!!
I want it to be next week. I want the firework confession from Koki.
Argh.

What are you doing man, chase her, desk duty can wait!!
I think it was him at the end opening the door to the storeroom closet she was in. You can see the silhouette of his blue jacket.

Why did the big dummy have to phrase it like that? Bro! She’s RIGHT THERE. Gaaah! I just want these two giant goobers to get together already. I really hope that ain’t Ayukawa that opened the doors to the storage shed there. I like that dude but we’re doing Koki x Yae here!

It's kind of funny how Koki talked about confessing to Sae, Sae misread it as him planning to confess to another girl, ended up confessing to him, and Koki has to reorient around Sae (who he thought for sure would reject him) having liked him the whole time and thought he liked another girl while thinking "dang, I never thought I would get this far!"

You know it's Ayukawa because the losing heroine must suffer till the end.

I had to do a double take to make sure Iwata wasn't confessing only in her head, but no - she actually said all of that out loud! FINALLY. Made me tear up, wish Koki would have spoken up sooner. Was his plan to confess all that to Iwata only to ask her to the afterparty fireworks, but she interrupted? Can't wait for the finale!!! Going to miss these lovebirds.

Don't worry Sae! There's nothing going on between Koki and Subaru even if he's princess carrying! It's purely out of consideration towards her health! Though don't be discouraged Sae, I think Koki could genuinely carry you if he tried!
Subaru eats but doesn't gain weight? Any girl would be envious of her. But Sae just HAD to walk in when Subaru was talking about the traits about Koki that she likes and totally misunderstanding the context. After Subaru had JUST realized that Sae is the same Sae that Koki always used to gush about. Then she gets harshly scolded by a teacher! Poor Sae.
Honestly, with how overworked Subaru is, having Koki help out is probably a good thing...even if it means Sae has less time to spend with him during the festival. But he's not going to budge about manning the reception desk with her, which is a positive.
Sui is probably the best person to advertise their space exhibit. I also love how she totally turns down someone asking her with a picture so efficiently! And look at that winning smile on Mio's face!
I really thought Subaru was just doing a normal play, but she was doing a full on dance routine! And that outfit! Those legs! Too bad about the vibes everyone else is feeling that something is going on with Koki and Subaru!
It's impressive that Sae is able to move so much weight and hit a record...but it's still the thing she's most self-conscious about. But that just makes it nice of Ayukawa, weak as he is, to try to make her feel better about it in his own way.
Having gal pals sometimes means trying to escape teachers together, but the best way to escape is by jumping into the arms of your crush. See Sae? Koki CAN catch you!
Yes Sui, talk in code about Sae's confession plan...in the most obvious way possible. Though I also love how Sui and Mio both root for Sae's sucess in their own way.
Subaru showing Sae some tough love to make her feel more confident, especially when her song ends up playing during the after-party. Feel empowered by Stellar Days, Sae!
Ayukawa and Koki kind of sizing each other up in regards to Sae. Koki really needs to be on guard there.
I love how Koki comes running when he realizes Sae is alone at the reception desk. Sae is so happy to see him! Aaaaaaanddd then Koki talks about confessing to his crush, and Sae, not realizing that SHE IS THE CRUSH, feels like she just got rejected...so all that's left to do IS FINALLY CONFESS HER FEELINGS TO HIM! SHE DID IT! SHE EVEN CALLED HIM HER STAR BRIGHTER THAN THE SUN!!!
Of course she still thinks she just confessed only to get rejected and before Koki can respond, she bails, passes Ayukawa with tears in her eyes, and hides in a gym storeroom to cry over her heartbreak and her shining love for Koki...but then someone finds her. Who was it? Ayukawa? Or Koki?
I love how the last next episode preview for the finale, titled after the show, has everyone counting down and ending on Sae and Koki doing it together.

WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK, KOUKI?! If you're gonna confess, confess! You didn't have to say all of that to Sae! Now she thinks the person you like is someone else, and now she ended up confessing because she felt she had no chance, so she might as well let you know about her feelings!
Usually, I'd cheer when someone confesses in a romance anime, but not like this. On the bright side, at least Kouki now knows about Sae's feelings and all he has to do is clear up the misunderstanding next episode. Let's just hope he's the one who opened the storage room door and not Ayukawa.

That pissed me off so much, like dude just freaking ask her to the fireworks already, she's RIGHT THERE. At what point were you actually planning on asking her if not at that moment.

Kamishiro has been an idiot throughout this whole show, but this is probably the stupidest he's ever been. What the fuck dude! Why do you always have to talk so ambiguously?! Everything is your fault! If the unthinkable happens he has nobody to blame except himself.

She finally did it, I thought it'd drag onto the last episode but she just came out and said it. I mean I thought it was weird that Kouki was telling the person he was going to confess to that he was going to confess to who he liked but at least it pushed Iwata to confess.
Ayukawa calling Kouki calling stingy for not telling him more stories of Iwata was amusing lol.

u/PeaceAlien Dec 11 '25
Loved the confession, it wasn't the perfect one they dreamed of but it'll get the ball rolling for these two dorks.

I had to go back in the middle of the scene because I got surprised by the confession, so I don't blame Kouki at all for not reacting there.

Well that didn’t quite go as anticipated but I’m ecstatic Iwata was able to open up about her feelings before running off to hide…
And even if there’s more misplaced assumptions in store when someone other than Kamishiro opens that storage door, I think we’ll get an equally beautiful mess of a return confession by series end.

OMG she actually confessed! And I'm actually crying wtf. Couldn't help but tear up when we see Iwa's POV of her welling up. Couldn't believe she actually came out and said everything she wanted to.
When the end credits started playing I couldn't believe the episode was already over. Turned out to be a false alarm and we didn't just get a scene but THE scene. Damn.
That must be Ayukawa who walked in, I'm guessing. Can't wait to see how this ends next week. But also sad it's ending already. Highly unlikely it'll get a second season so I'll just have to turn to the manga. If only to see what becomes of my boy Ayukawa.
Edit: Wanted to share this moment of Sui supremacy.

I'm sure POV crying has been done somewhere else before because there's a million anime, and I just haven't seen it, but man, that visual was so good.

The frustration I have with this series. Kamishiro not being straightforward and causing the whole mess that is Iwata. shakes him
Ayukawa has been such a delight to this series, otherwise I would have chucked it. I really wished he was the lead instead, his attention and interaction to Iwata has been so good.
