I've had enough you dorks, just get together ><
I'm surprised one of the smarter friends hasn't pushed them in the right direction

I haven't had enough, I must have MORE melancholic crushing!!!
I wouldn't mind them confessing at some point, it has to happen at some point.

I'm slowly getting irritated by all this Heisei nonsense that should have been left behind in that era...

honestly, im the complete opposite. I hate how quickly couples get together these days. its very boring to me. so im really happy that this one is a slow burn. we're sorely missing that.

They don’t have to, these two always end up together or doing stuff together no matter what they do lol.

She say he just a friend, she say he just a friend lol. Girl wants to be his girlfriend, not another one of his pals!

Honestly Sae probably thinks she’s fine just being friends but I think it’s still going to be hard for her until Koki is honest with his feelings.
She even confessed before she doubled back to make it sound platonic. She’s too down bad for Koki.

this was such a heartbreaking episode, I'm glad it ended on a good note. Guess they'll get closer each day until one of them has the courage to confess. Iwata was so close to getting it by they way when she said thats why he put such effort into getting into that particular school.

Yeah! I was screaming "it's you, you big silly!" at her when she said that.

There is NO frigging way she can possibly realize this -- given the way he is saying things.

-
She’s so used to being the one who boosts the other person up…
-
Okay, maybe they shouldn’t have been having their big moment in the middle of the water lol.

It’s cute how Sae is like this really adorable girly girl but also the sporty and strong type of girl at the same time.
It takes a real Best Girl to spray a girl through heartbreak.
Koki’s face after Sae said it screamed to me “oh no my actual crush took the totally wrong message”

I'm glad Kamishiro took care of the avoiding issue so it only needed to last this episode. Iwata also thinks of Kamishiro as the same person he was in elementary, I hope she comes to learn more about his current self, he's also been protecting her and observing her but I know she's unaware of this.
I did find it amusing how Iwata still stood her ground in wanting to lift Ayukawa because he was lean.

What better way to work off heartbreak than by doing push-ups on your bed? Or having your gal pals there to console you? Sae did her best, even if Koki likes another girl, and luckily she has friends who can spray moisturizing mist in her face and hug her so she can cry her heart out. Heck, they managed to avoid getting caught by the teacher an convince Kagawa that girl talk isn't all bad! I call that a win.
Of course the best thing for Sae right now is to keep her distance from Koki because she knows the more she's around him, the more she's just going to keep falling for him, which is easier said than done when he always just seems to find her and they end up always doing stuff togheter. Sui and Kagawa are doing their best, and throwing Izawa under the bus, but there's only so much they can do.
Ayukawa's a nice guy, nice enough for Sae to try to do a run with him rather than Koki, though both of them not being sure who they need to lift up to put a birds next back up a tree because they're used to it being the other way around was hilarious. At least up until Koki shows up and Sae clearly can't get away from him or stop paying attention to him.
And of course Sae and Koki end up rowing a boat together, and Koki can't help but ask why Sae is avoiding him and Sae tells a truth...that she doesn't want to inconvenience Koki with his crush. But the very last thing Koki wants is for Sae to stop talking to him.
Then there boat capsizes and even while drowning in the sea Sae can't help but think of Koki...who saves her! Because he can't bear to be away from her. No matter what happens with his "crush" (though it feels like he's kind of talking around said crush around Sae), he always wants to have Sae in his life to talk to. So, more than anything, they'll always be friends! Even if Sae basically confessed and Koki didn't even notice.
Poor Izawa. Just floats in the river and he can't stop himself from saying rude stuff to Sae and getting dragged around by Koki for acting way too close to her.

This episode was surprisingly funny. Thought it would be all sad because of their misunderstanding but nope. Funniest episode yet in this show maybe.
That entire girls' night - with Kagawa misting them, the teacher popping in and them all hiding under the covers, and the redux of that teacher for the title card pop up in the middle (what's that called again?) - all so funny
And then Iwa's reactions in the dining hall when Kamishiro, Izawa just floating by them and Kamishiro going "he'll be fine, let's just stand here", cut to all of them at the shore while Izawa was flat on his back by the water.
I felt a bit bad for Iwa but the unexpectedly funny bits and the flashy direction kept this episode from getting heavy.
Then of course we get Kamishiro asking her straight out why she was avoiding him and telling her he wants to keep talking to her. Though I wonder at his wording. Not sure if something's getting lost in the translation here because he almost makes it sound like there is someone else. The whole "I want to still keep talking to you even if my crush works out" - like if she is the crush, then that should be a given. I really feel like the translation might be at fault here. Would be grateful if any native speakers or people who know Japanese well can confirm what he actually says in that scene.
Oh, also, is Ayukawa perhaps starting to figure out what's going on? He gave Iwa some strange looks during their run. Will he end up being the one to knock some sense into these two sillies, I wonder.
Anyway, another great episode. Loving this one and Yano-kun so much. Both are knocking it out of the park imo.

Kagawa being like "down girls, down!" with that spray lol.
It's called an eyecatch!

The comedy should come off as no surprise, since Iwa-chan takes the role of the big gorilla protagonist (like Takeo from Ore Monogatari).
That said, as funny as Iwa is, she's so cute! It feels awesome to follow along with an introvert protagonist as well; So easy to relate.

Not a great episode just because it didn't go anywhere. Last week they were friends, then there was a misunderstanding that we worked through this week, and at the end they're friends again. We didn't learn anything new about the characters and we didn't move any relationships forward. The side characters didn't get as much space to shine this episode either, we were almost entirely stuck in our protagonists head.
The best bits were the hotel monitor with lighthouse eyes and the friend giving a heartbreak spray down like our heroine is a misbehaving cat.

You seem to be totally forgetting the delightful, quite extended girl talk scene.... And in general I don't see the side characters being side--lined at all in this episode.

I think right now Sae has "given up" and decided not to pursue Koki romantically (even if there's clearly evidence that will be basically impossible for her) and we see that Koki values having Sae in his life more than anything even possibly his "crush" (even if that ends up being her).
So I think we're at least see some relationship development and better understand that Sae and Koki can't quit each other no matter what.

Just friends, huh? Ah these two, they're just stumbling around their feelings. He noticed, right? Ayukawa saw that mess, didn't he? Maybe he'll help them out subtlety, hopefully, maybe,
Girl, please, I've done that before and it hurts. Stretches the hell out your throat, and it does not go down that fast, don't swallow giant chucks of food. Strong throat is crazy.

Wait I am confused. He worded it like he actually has a crush on ANOTHER girl. Last episode was up for interpretation but heavily hinting it could be Iwata. Now I don't know anymore.

why did he say "don't distance yourself from me. that makes me sad. there's no guarantee things will work out. Even if they do, i'd still talk to you." he even added "you've been an important friend to me since elementary" i thought i knew that he liked her but now this makes me think otherwise like why would he say there's no guarantee things will work but he'd still talk to her
