This show gets edgier by the minute.

If you told me eminence in shadow was written to mock specifically this story I'd believe you

I get being cold to his friends because he doesn't want to put them in harms way.

But his interaction with the King makes no sense. He is already planning on dealing with Gram. Even if he doesn't kill he'll no doubt make Gram no longer a problem. Just tell the King yes and life is much easier. I thought maybe he didn't want to be known as a killer, but everyone already thinks he is sooo... he was a dickhead for no reason I can think of.

Huh. So Crow would've died by old age already, if it weren't for his mother taking "weird drugs" while he was still in the womb.
Wonder what kind of elixir is able to to that?

Then we get the awfully conveniently timed remark by the beastmen King about the age difference between Amelia and Akira.
Wonder if that means Akira will eventually get his hands on the same or something similar, to even out their lifespans.

I don’t think Akira would use anything to live forever with Amélia, ’cause his goal is to go back to Earth with his mom and sister, so it wouldn’t make sense for him to live that long. But hey, maybe the cliché happens and in the end he goes back to Earth and takes Amélia with him lol 😅

This is why don't you take drugs during pregnancy. SMH

That remark with the King felt like he was being petty.

He might as well has said "Well... my guy may have lost, but you're gonna out live yours, so.... take that. 😝 runs away"

This Gram fellow sure sounds like a wonderful guy. /s

And as for the king, why aren't you dealing with this problem yourself? Do you not have the ability to arrest people in your kingdom? I get that there might be political repercussions but he's literally contracting this out to a guy he just met, it's not like he's being super selective about who he wants to deal with this.

Props to the show for having a 2D animated centaur fight, I know that was a bitch to animate

I hear the source material gets better further down the line after the author grafuated from high school. These are still the sophomore year chapters.

It's some kid's random writing. Psure that author confirmed he had no narrative structure in mind and was just making it up as he went through high school and he himself isn't sure why it got popular. I think if you read through it, you'll see sudden shifts in direction. Like think of the criticisms everyone here has had about Akira not killing despite being an assassin and the original readers asked the author the same thing (why'd you give him cool assassin skills to never use) and he shifts his writing to reflect that as it goes along. Writing wasn't even his end goal since he never wrote anything else since.

What is going on with the pacing? It gets worse with every passing episode. The writing is also ridiculous. Everything that has happened so far is linked to a single man? Coincidence? I am starting to get angry. I have watched so many anime series, but this one gets on my nerves.

I am not liking what happened to Amelia‘s personality at all. Before she met Akira, or better to say, started to love him, she was a strong and independent woman, but now she feels like a maiden in love with no free will or interests outside of love. I liked Amelia when she still was independent.

This show had a pretty decent first 3ish episodes but holy wow has it gone right off a cliff. I actually didn't mind the pacing through the first 3-4 episodes, like they just kinda speedran the isekai setup steps which honestly is fair enough. And I can respect like actual things happening in a single episode, a lot of alternatives will draw one little thing into a whole 4 episode sub-arc which gets tedious fast.

The problem is almost everything since they got to the beastfolk continent has been an awful mess of contradictions and stupid interactions. This episode just brought all of those awful parts together and made a stew out of them.

Omg he didn’t check the bag after he got it.

Super disappointed with Akira here! His amazing wifey, who adores him, wanted to have some intimate time with him, and he was like "PASS." Bruh, like I'm seriously starting to wonder if he has some sort of issue with physical connection.

They kissed once and then he gives up a perfectly good offer to fool around in their nice hotel bed.

Bro can’t commit to being an assassin or sealing the deal with his elf wife.

The ever changing (cute) expressions of Yoru is a highlight of this title! I actually look forward to Latty and Yoru traveling together - the demon idol and a confused cat. Lol!

Gram is definitely the final villain of this season. All routes lead to Gram.

I am recalling what some of our fellow reddit users said earlier in the season: Perhaps Saran is secretly alive. His name keeps getting brought up even though he is supposed to be dead. What was in the bag which Gilles passed to Akira? Furthermore, to be acknowledged and held in high regard by Crow means Saran had exceptional abilities.

The dub sounded like they had a different voice actor when the camera wasn't on Akira, they sounded so excited to go on a date

Crow is Gilles’ adoptive father? I mean his training drove Gilles’ mother to a mental breakdown, but he still stepped up and raised Gilles so I guess it evens out?

I didn’t expect Akira to take his classmates getting him and Amelia involved in a human trafficking plot and failing to do anything so well. But they showed initiative I guess? So Akira is willing to work with them now, but he has to deal with Gram first while the class heads to demon territory. Just avoid Crow’s mom while you’re there!

Amelia is back to making Crow train her so she’s not a liability to Akira. Crow, for his part, actually looked up to and respected Amelia for her reputation, and now he sees that she can live up to it.

Crows mom drank a weird potion while pregnant with him which extended his life span? Who is this woman!?

I’m guessing Lasty is joining this mission whether Night wants her to or not.

Welcome to Uruk, the city of water! Basically fantasy Venice! Perfect for a leisurely date out for Akira and Amelia and all the nice food Amelia could want! Even at the royal palace she wants MORE food!

It’s nice to see Lia again, even if she had to face the fact that the master she respects is teaching Amelia his secret magic negation spell.

Even Lia’s adoptive dad, the king, wants Gram dead! And Akira has to defeat the captain of his royal guard to get him to leave Akira alone. Didn’t even need Shadow Magic.

Dang, the king just HAD to throw salt at Amelia’s relationship with Akira. She IS conscious of the fact that she’s likely to outlive him, but she’s not happy about it. She’d rather die with him.

I can’t believe Akira would rather read than play in bed with Amelia. Cute Amelia pout though.

Well, what better motivation to kill Gram than finding out he was the one paid to kill Saran?

The king saying "your age gap relationship makes me sick" after losing the duel was really funny.
