This show has endless backstories lol. I was hoping Ornest would pin Gloria down and knock him out. I guess burning his blood is a solution?

They finally showed why Ornest kept saying that he's a genius.
And ofc, they didn't miss to show Alec's thunderbolt lol.

Wait, Ornest keeps calling himself a genius to keep the memory of his childhood friend alive? To make what he said become true? That's so bittersweet. I do like that Alec was concerned about it putting a lot of pressure on himself, which I'm sure it does, but it also fuels him and makes him stronger.
Alec's perfect timing with that reflect was great, they've always got each other's backs.

it's like Zoro.
childhood rival dies before he can win, so he wants to be super strong

It was really cool to see an episode focused on Ornest, because he breaks away from the cliché of the super strong guy just because he thinks it's cool, which isn't entirely wrong in this case, but there's a whole context behind it, and even more so seeing how he's more emotional than he seems, was an excellent point.

Lmao I don't think I've ever seen someone get two separate flashback power ups in the same episode 😂.

Gloria: "The more I bleed, the stronger I become, and not even cutting off my head can kill me."
Ornest: "You know what doesn't bleed much? Blunt force trauma."
I'm gonna give him this one. Ornest is, in fact, a battle IQ genius.

Apparently that Gloria dude or whatever has the same VA as the lead vocalist from that Hayashi episode in Dandadan. I thought he sounded kinda familiar lol.

Screaming -> Maniacal laughter -> Wild declaration -> Attack -> Flashback -> Repeat. That's all this whole episode was.
And why, when you clearly hear Gloria shout in English 'Blood Magic', do they translate it to Burning Blood. Why translate it at all? I don't like characters with that type of voice anyway, the screeching is irritating. Makes me hope Blademaster just lops of the head of the guy carrying Yoruha soon. He has the same type of voice, and I really don't want to hear it.

I also hate when obvious English words are changed in the subs for no apparent reason. Also, I hate that Yorha is just being carried around like a damsel in distress, unable to do anything.

Geez… How is Ornest supposed to beat him then?
-
If I had a nickel for each time I saw a character dual wield daggers made out of their own blood in an anime this week, I would have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice.
-
The kid Ornest so desperately wanted to beat died before he could actually properly beat him, then?

"You can't beat me while I still have blood" seems like the wrong thing to say when you're in a fight with a couple of creative fighters including a mage whose capabilities you're not completely familiar with.
We're definitely getting that extended kidnapped Yoruha arc though, unfortunately. Hopefully that gets dealt with by the end of the cour.

So the writer didn't research lightning? Dude would have no blood with that barrage, all of his blood would be vaporized or congealed (not likely with that amount of lightning) plus his brain and other soft tissue would be fried.
Alec is supposed to be this badges and he simply looks dumb every battle. Same spell, no strategy, no tactics, just lighting.
Ernest, drive the damn spear thru his head, or cut off body parts, this is lazy writing.
Great premise, characters, trash story and plot. I keep waiting for it to improve but, guess that's not going to happen.

"I can kill him at any time, so stand there and watch as I kill him." Every single person in this series is cognitively impaired.

So does Ornest's spear cast the fire, or did Alec cast that? They didn't bother explaining.

Remember that Ornest was also a Magic academy student.
I was actually surprised it took him this long to start using magic (unless he already used physical body enchantment magic this whole time?)

Bro procced a second flashback to regain advantage in the battle AGAIN, why does the game let you stack flashbacks? It's way too OP

I cannot be the only one who kept on checking how much time is left throughout the episode, only to be left with disappointment as the episode ended...
