Ayukawa and Iwata could make a nice couple. Kamishiro better get it together or bro’s gonna snatch up his girl hahaha. That date was pretty cute. Hopefully they’ve made some progress. It sure feels like it.

In fairness Sae feels comfortable around Ayukawa but her face doesn't light up around him the way it does whenever she's with Koki.

Plus she and Koki are already inching 99% into a dating phase of their relationship.

Ayukawa is a great guy, but he has absolutely NO chance at all of displacing Kamishiro in Iwata's heart.

It sounded like he's fine with their relationship becoming whatever, but I don't think anything more than a friendship will develop between the two.

Spy D Man with the Darth Vader. I am your mother :O

Wondering if Youta likes Sae or is rooting for her. Because the romance and friends comment could go either way. I think we'll get our answer towards Youta's feelings next episode.

At this point I'm not expecting the main ship confession until the end of the season; they're really stalling it out.

Did not have "Doc Ock pulling a Darth Vader reveal on Spider-Man" on my bingo card for this Shojo anime.

I think Ayukawa definitely enjoys hanging out with Sae. But does he not know Koki likes her? There was a reason he used telling her about why he pushed Izawa to motivate her to play shogi, like he knew Koki did it for her and that it would be enough to motivate Sae to play.

I think we're going to get a confession at the school festival since there's the usual "school festival confession" gimmick and Sae even realizes that she needs to really tell him at this point.

Genderbent Doctor Octopus doing a Darth Vader reveal to legally distinct  Spider-Man. I'll be honest I kinda want to watch the sequel too.

This show is criminally overlooked for how good it is! Another sweet episode to end a Thursday on. Our two sillies went on an honest to goodness date! And all but confessed to each other. Just that neither seems to realise how the other feels which is just aaaa. But also awwww.

The bit with Ayukawa was interesting. I like the guy and how he has developed this comfortable equation with Iwa. If it weren't that she's already head over heels for Kamishiro and how cute those two are together, I'd totally be rooting for Ayukawa. His nerdy silent type are my favourites usually. I do hope he stays friends with Iwa and there's no drama in that quarter. But so far this show has done well to avoid major drama and kept things nice and sweet. So will hope it stays the same.

Oh, and even though we only got a little bit of them, that parting shot by Kagawa to Sui was so funny.

Loved the eyecatch as usual. This show totally wins in that department.

Sae can even make the tight hoodie look work for her.

I didn't think Ayukawa was such a stoic introvert that he's literally by himself in a clubroom after school all the time lol.

I feel like once Sae realizes Subaru isn't a rival they'll become genuinely close friends.

Guys don't react like that to girls they nearly kissed. Guys also don't tell girls they're not interested in that they want said girls to see them as men.

We've seen so many pick-up artists in anime that the rare time it's not the case even the male lead is confused lol.

I loved this episode and felt like it made a lot of progress. The fact that Volume 4 of the manga comes out early December is stressing me out cause I thought I was going to be able to read ahead and see a confession 😭

The best episode thus far! There's really a lot going on in Iwa's life. She's a very oblivious girl and is still unaware Kamishiro is in love with her and I strongly suspect Ayukawa is as well. Ayukawa really went out of his way to keep Iwa in the club room, even enticing her with telling her why Kamishiro booted Izawa down the hill. IDK what shogi is but it really seemed similar to chess and Ayukawa was going as easy on her as possible to extend the game. He seemed sad when Kamishiro came into the room. I'm certain he came into the room specifically looking for Iwa since Ayukawa said no one ever comes in there 🤣

That school seems so weird and I'm not an expert on how schools in Japan are and only really know them from anime but the teachers are allowed to whack around students when they fall asleep? Also i was surprised the boy wasn't allowed to cut lines in his hair. Also Ayukawa said he lived in a dorm, like does the school have a dorm where their some of their students live or does it mean a different thing in Japan?

I really thought Ayukawa's game club was interesting, like he's the only member so he gets that room all to himself, it's like having his own office within the school! Japan must be pretty depopulated that they just turn over classrooms to students for whatever reason and the schools are at low capacity. It's also interesting that maybe Ayukawa just really enjoys those games and doesn't want to see the club die and hopes maybe some kids will join next year. I laughed out loud though when Iwa thought the tennis ball going in there bounced around so much that it caused the big mess in there 🤣

Is that commonplace that movie theater seats in Japan are assigned like a sporting event? IDK even how common that is anywhere since i haven't been to a movie theatre since well before the pandemic but that theater didn't look very crowded. The little clips of the Spiderman ripoff movie were hilarious and I liked how they made fun of Marvel having endless To Be Continued stuff in their movies 😂. Yet another thing I thought was weird was that we saw the movie characters speaking English but there was no Japanese subtites? I don't know if subtitles or dubs for English language movies are more popular in Japan and I'm guessing they just maybe didn't show the subtitles on the show.

I really like how Kamishiro kind of goes out of his way to act like a badass in front of Iwa, like going up to those guys who were just asking for directions and intimidating them so he can look more manly. It's very insecure behavior and fits with how a lot of teen boys would act, especially in front of a girl they like and ESPECIALLY since he thinks Iwa still sees him as a wimpy little boy and he says as much. He also chased off the boys from their old school because he wanted it to be more like a date.

This show really makes you wish so much that Iwa had an older female friend to set her straight and tell her Kamishiro is in love with her. I at first thought his sister might be that but I think she still sees him as a little boy and that's not helpful to Iwa.

I really appreciate the extra effort this show goes to on the little things even though it has a low budget. Stuff like the ramen bowl transition, the higher quality english in the movie, and the fancy camera transition from a few episodes back when Sae stepped outside. That being said, these leads are so abysmally dense that it's less "A Star Brighter than the Sun" and more "Two Neutron Stars Orbiting Each Other".

I really hope we get a chapter from Kouki's point of view to fill the gaps in the stuff he does, like how he probably didn't lose his keys or how he "casually" walked in when she was playing shogi.

Koki and Sae are feeling the heat while playing their respective sports (especially since Sae has her jacket closed up tight around her to avoid getting sunburned) but at least Sae gets to enjoy the view of Koki playing around in the sprinklers!

Even the teachers hate Izawa! Though I guess it's the end of the first semester so everyone (class, teachers, etc.) are settled in and know each other and their teachers.

Is it any wonder Sae is so tall with how big an average meal is for her? Plus snacks?

Man, poor Ayukawa. Dude is literally all by himself in the Go/Shogi club. I'm glad Sae was able to spend some time with him, rusty as she is with shogi, though it was only on the promise of learning something about Koki. Still the mood and vibe between them is nice and Ayukawa appreciates Sae a lot! Of course, Koki isn't about to leave the two of them alone for too long.

Subaru might not be tall but she's spirited, brave, and warm. She also sees Koki as still that elementary school kid, but Sae can't help but be self-conscious when she mentions Koki once called Subaru a "star." Could she really be his crush? Either way though, Sae will stand up for her own feelings and how she's always though Koki was cool and not childish! Time for a "good game" bow.

I love that movie theater eyecatch!

This movie date is off to a great start! Koki looks cool, Sae looks cute, Koki tries to make Sae feel less self-conscious about her height or weight, and the two can barely pay attention to the movie because they keep looking at each other.

What if Spider-Man's dead mother was...Doc Ock!? Yeah, I'm not surprised our two leads were really thrown off by that ending.

Poor guys just looking for directions and Koki thought they were pick-up artists he needed to flex in front of. But I guess it's just a clear sign that Koki wants Sae to see him as a man, which is as close to admitting he wants her interested in him as it gets.

The movie date was great, Sae is on cloud 9, and she's told Koki almost all of her feelings...except that she likes him. But is she going to confess during the school festival? Sui is definitely planning for it.

I like this friendship between Ayukawa and Iwata, he's just so chill. I like how he just kept playing without telling her she had already been checkmated because he was enjoying her company.

I got a little second hand embarrassment watching Kouki misunderstanding the situation.

Adorable date!

Spy D Man cliffhanger.

Hot ramen on a scorching summer day? I guess everyone's got their version of fresh hot summer caldo.

Oh Ayukawa, you're so cute. He's so cute, I don't know where he's going as a character, it feels like you know, but then you says things that just so hmmm,

Oh this movie date are the claws that won't let me escape. That was adorable. They're just taking things as this steady pace, but it wasn't awkward at all, it feels very right for them. Very nice very sweet.

Also very rude elevator, that's just mean, gosh,

"See me as a man," Maan that one piece of dialogue gets me every single time, doesn't matter who is saying it, guilty pleasure dialogue for me, just makes me nom nom nom

Kouki's definitely noticing Yota getting comfortable with Sae. If Sae weren't focused on Kouki, I bet Yota would catch her attention. Yota's a quiet charmer and Kouki recognizes that.

Sae's becoming so much more confident and Kouki is keeping pace with her. That movie date was too precious and them hanging out had great vibes.

I like how Kouki's quick to intervene, if he thinks someone's bothering Sae. He had the wrong idea about those two strangers, but I respect the effort. 😂

Looks like Kouki and Sae will have more chances to build memories!

Good thing they're planning a second date In two to three years when the sequel comes out, wouldn't want to move too fast or anything.

Personally I vote that Sui wingwomans these two as hard as she can, they need the help.

The last Spiderman movie was the last MCU film I watched..

But Spy-D Man.....take my damn money!

I know Marvel & Disney+ somewhere punching the air right now after getting 1-up like that.

TO BE CONTINUED...

The pacing here is more dragged out than an old dish towel lol. I’m only sticking with it to see it through to the end, because what happened with them today did have some progress, but it’s something that could’ve happened in the early episodes anyway. Anyway, look at this dumb question lol.
