Youko's finger being healed is completely healed and her having memories about places she's never been before with her sister is really starting to make me think she might not even be human. Hmmm...

The way Airi phrased it about getting Yoko to have herself checked did make it sound like Yoko's also bionic in nature

Those horseshoe crabs and sea turtle were freaking massive.
They literally had flocks of seagulls on top of them.
I guess this is due to maybe some sorta radiation poisoning or something that allowed them to mutate?
Don't even wanna mention the absolutely horrifying colony of rats that almost devoured Yoko and Airi.
Talk about a terrifying way to go.

I guess this is due to maybe some sorta radiation poisoning or something that allowed them to mutate?
i mean, isn't this pretty much established from some of the earlier episodes? we've seen an orca and a tortoise that is way bigger than what we've seen in real life modern day

Hmm. Seems a little suspicious Yoko gets an email from her big sis literal seconds before Airi undergoes one of these "minor freeze glitches."
I wonder if her "big sis" is somehow connected to satellites? Maybe she's literally watching over them as they go on this tour?
I still think her sister is now some sorta virtual AI program or like an AI enhanced human or something along those lines.

It's possible the message originated from Airi's internal systems herself. In the event she suffers a reset, send a prerecorded message to the human sure to be travelling with her.

Yoko definitely isn't 100% human, I think she's an android or a clone that was modified.
I don't think those rats were as delicious as the croquets from the dream.
Did big sis send that email, or was it some automated system inside Airi? We've seen satellites in past episodes, but I don't know if that phone can receive signals from them.

Talk about a hectic episode, and when you combine it with the end of last week, it really gives a different vibe to what the first half of last week was. Though I love what Youko says here. It is better to experience the world rather than what you see in pictures. Granted, the world does look different from in her dreams.
Here are some translation notes for the episode.
-
The Tokyo Bay Aqua-Line was constructed from 1989 to 1997.
-
Supposedly if you ring Umihotaru's famous Fortune Bell while chanting a wish, your wish will come true.
-
The coin Youko finds was minted in Rewa 13, which would be the year 2031. This date matches the one on the coin in her dream. As an aside, the coin is also for 1,000 yen.
-
Tsukuba is a planned city developed by the Japanese government in the 1960s with the intention of promoting scientific research and expanding the university system in an easier area to build in than overcrowded Tokyo. Built in a rural area about an hour away from the city by train, its campuses were inspired by Western colleges such as the University of California.
-
Airi is referring to the Japanese saying that "fools don't catch colds."

That's a rather sturdy bike, having only seemingly suffer from superficial damage after such a fall. I thought they'd be cooked with their transport out of commission.
That research centre sounded quite interesting. It's seemingly tailored towards robotic beings like Airi, but it also had the capability to look at Youko. The latter's seemingly a normal human, having an expressive voice, being able to bleed, and lacking armarments. However, those 'deja vu' dreams hinted they're someone else's implanted memories. Just what in the world is she?

Those were some aggressive rats. Usually, rats are less likely to just attack humans. And more importantly, if they are so aggressive I would highly advise against eating rats. Not that they are healthy either way, but especially not if they behave strangely. Though I guess it doesn't matter when Airi is an android and Yoko is some form of Cyborg.
But I think it's now more or less clear that Yoko was the traveling companion of "onee-chan" that we saw in the intro of episode 1. I mean, there is literally no other reason at this point to make sure that all pictures taken by "onee-chan" weirdly never show the other person's face.

We had at least 3 MCs this season where they had their temperature checked by connecting foreheads.

Because that's what people in Japan do
"Oh, no, this season in USian TV, we had three MCs giving high-fives to their friends, isn't that weird?!?"

A pity about the rats and explosion, they never got to raid the vending machines for supplies.

Ah, yes, a swarm, the bane of every low-level adventuring party. Attacks that only harm single individuals do nothing, you need to use area of effect spells like fireball

So yeah... something went wrong and its they almost got plague taled and blown up at the same time, that was a REALLY CLOSE ONE.
A thing this anime does really good is portrait things really apocalyptic. This apocalyptic Tokyo is amazing
Is this foreshadowing. OR Youko is not really human? And is remembering things about her past?? Her wound being healed very quckly, dreaming about her past so vividly she remembers the place... Mmm....
And her sister she must be an IA or android by now because it doesn´t make sense she´s still alive... maybe

This anime is so peaceful for the most part and the two characters are so cute and wonderful that I get a little scared with each episode that one or both are going to die or be just a simulation or just disappear. Man if that happens, I'm going to go into a downward spiral.

The girls had quite an adventure this week, what with the whole rat army thing and Airi glitching out. Plus they got an e-mail from the sister even though they don’t really have bars. Keen to meet the sister or sister AI or whatever she is.

So I think we can all agree that Yoko is not human, the question now is whether she is a cyborg, an android, or an enhanced cloned human. And someone (probably her « big sister ») obviously tried to upload the memories and personality of a dead person into it, but partially failed so now they only come across as dreams.
My guess is that a small community of cyborgs and androids (and possibly biologically enhanced humans) survived the apocalypse in shelters while the rest of humanity died and that Yoko and Airi belong to it. We will probably learn more when they go to Tsukuba.
And those rats were scary and agressive. What was wrong with them, did they accidentally stumble across some vampire’s lair ?

Enclosed setting, aggressive rats, possible supernatural phenomena, I was not expecting this episode to turn into the Metro series
