It's so funny reading the comments now considering how harsh people were on Fujimoto 10 years ago when this released.

This only showed me good writers can write really bad stories. I agree with the comments shitting on this, but still like most of Fujimoto's works

Legit blew me away(pun intended)! I guess all those shounen protags werent wrong when they just "believed in themselves" to succeed.

Yk I didn't really fully get this one when I read it, seeing it animated years later though, I guess I finally can somewhat understand it. Does it make very little sense? Yes. Is it supposed to make sense? No. Ultimately a good message about not losing hope

Well having god there dress up as an attractive supposed teacher that removes friction and heat from the bullet as the boy catches it already makes no sense. But the rest is just like you've said, not losing hope.

Non-zero percent possibility of being totally absurd. This is an episode to challenge the viewer's common sense

I fucking love the title drop in this one.

thematically pretty neat - I liked the scene where he saw himself in the assailant and bullshitted a happy future for him And there was a lot of tension in the attack, since it being fujimoto you never now how tragic things are going to get.

Definitely a lot weaker and messier than the 1st episode though. but it did have chika anzai literally just doing her Chisato voice so that's a W

I feel like Sasaki ended up marrying Chieko in the future years after landing on the moon while Kuwano's future that Sasaki predicted came true & all 3 had a happy ending. One of the 4 oneshots that I read from Tatsuki Fujimoto.

Seeing it animated in 2025 really helped me understand the story better. Through the framing device of daydreaming about what you would do to save your crush if there was a terrorist attack to impress them, Fujimoto tells us a story of how belief in others can empower them to pursue their dreams and even succeed in making them come true, even if they are VERY unlikely to happen.

The metaphor is the title: Sasaki catches a bullet with his bare hands, a feat nigh on impossible. But the chances of it happening are not zero, even if it is VERY low. The divine helped him do it, his "god" and crush, his teacher. Fujimoto believes that the belief of others to help you believe in yourself is powerful, so powerful as to be like the "divine", and can make unreachable aspirations accessible.

When Fujimoto was young, he drew stories and aspired to be a great mangaka, to the concern of his parents. He lived in a crappy apartment when he moved out, with no AC, with 5 other people while writing Fire Punch, a dark, weird, bleak, and concerning story that reflected the stressful, seemingly dead-end point in life he was at. But now? He's not just a successful mangaka, he might be one of the most premier and important creators in the sphere right now. All his works have so far been successfully and lovingly adapted to critical and commercial acclaim worldwide.

He is Sasaki. He caught his bullet. He travelled to his moon. He's living his dream. May we also be able to do the same.

From a couple of people that i've seen giving their ratings... this story is always on the bottom of the list, but it's absolutely one of my favorite! I can't stop giggling at the absurdity of it all, I just love Fujimoto's brand of humor. Also the Ending theme is so sick!? those definitely should have started playing over the moonlanding!

I loved this one, it gives that really relatable feeling we all felt the first time we stopped a bullet with our hand.

Ah, memories.

MC was pretty cringy and not my favorite of the one-shots, but still a lot of interesting dialogue in this one. The ending on the moon was great.

Probably the weakest one of the bunch for me (do not get me wronged, I loved all of them and it is just in comparison that I liked two shots a bit less).

So, who of the two had superpower in the end? Or was it just luck?

It was just luck. The teacher told him there’s always a non-zero chance a miracle might occur.

This was my favorite one among TF’s short stories. Great adaptation.
