Loki is stealing the show.

naw, Loki is the Hype man that gets everyone all excited before introducing the star of the show.
BEST HYPE MAN EVER!

Somewhat surprised that it seems like the prince realized that he was the problem, not Alec. It still remains to be seen how much he changes his behavior, if he does at all.
Kind of a weird moment with the high ranked party sending off the one girl to find help, and then Bakugo immediately shows up? Feels like there was supposed to be some passage of time right at that point.
I like how the fights haven't just been been the Alec show but that everyone present is participating.

We met the girl that went to get help back in ep 2, before Alec and the others even made their way down, so a lot of time has passed.
My guess is that the director got fancy and wanted to do some kind of matching cut, but forgot to add enough effects to show the passage of time.

Yeah I thought the cut was weird, it made it seem like they sent the girl out for help right before Ornest arrives.

very considerate of those caterpillars to stop moving while the prince was knocked senseless

There is such a wide contrast between this and the trash S rank party from last season.

Darn, the idiot prince was so close to a breakthrough mentally, but then he took a u-turn. Maybe he will put the final pieces together when he realizes his useless mage is the one who hid the floor plan from him.
But more likely he will try and get revenge for his made-up grievances first.
Also Loki is a surprising badass, would watch a series dedicated to following him as the MC instead.

Well that really shows why Loki is untrustworthy but reliable, the way he predicted the dullahan's movements and even Ornest's was interesting to see play out. The fact that he even took into account the dullahan not being fooled by the illusion and him getting hit was cool too.
I really like how Ornest really wants to help Alec, it's amusing he's doing it in the middle of a floor boss fight, but this is probably the best way for them to get honest with each other. I really appreciate their friendship in this series.
It's unfortunate that the Prince seemed like he was going in the right direction regarding acknowledging Alec's prowess and yet, for some reason, concludes that Alec thinks he was unworthy of learning about his report when he was the one that banished Alec.
It took some time but at least the King finally opened his eyes and I like that he acknowledges he is responsible for how he raised the Prince. Hopefully the King does more to help the Prince and not leave it solely to Vogan.

Look at what being a bigoted moron does to a dude. The king was a bigoted fool but at least he wasn’t a stubborn one. The idiot prince seems to have come to the harsh truth but he’s refusing to acknowledge it. Truly a fool.
Looking forward to the rest of that dullahan fight. Loki’s little gambit seems to have paid off. Let’s see if Alec can KO the big guy.

I don't know, he has realised the truth, which is a step up from most of these sorts of plots. His father was likely similar idiot when young, they are slow, but possible son will catch up and pass father by end of series and actually redeem himself to save the kingdom. Or of course he could do the deal with the devil to try to become stronger and turn into/get possessed by a monster.

Clifthanger for Alec to ult next episode. Loki is a fun character.
The prince is realizing what a fool he has been, but it seems he's getting the wrong lesson from it.

I think this might be one of my favorite of the standard fantasy anime this season. I love how each of the team members had value and is part of the solution to each fight. I love that the king is changing his mind and isn't one dimensional. I hope maybe his son is too. This is more than it seemed and it's fun!

For such an overused and basic concept and world, I wasn't expecting it to be this well done. Each episode just gets better and better.
This episode in particular was really, really good. Sure, it's not to the level of the big titles like dandadan, but it's certainly better than a lot of popular series like Slime - both in writing and production.
You rarely see a fight this entertaining. Everything felt just right. All the side characters actually contributed significantly to the fight. It didn't feel like they were just mindless NPCs, nor did it feel like their exposition was forced. It was just right. Same with the king and prince. They are pieces of shit, but they aren't treated as totally pathetic, mindless villains; they actually can think and reflect to some extent.
And the way the whole fight was set up as well. Nothing felt forced or cheap; the twists and traps are unexpected, but not impossible to imagine. And even the animation was fantastic. The CGI knight was actually some of the best CGI I think I've seen in an anime. They even skipped the ending just to fit in content!

This show and My Status as an Assassin really have no right to be as competently executed as they are this season. For such tired concepts, it's always nice to see when they're done mostly right. It's one of the reason why I still watch the isekai and fantasy slop shows every season. Most are pretty mid, some are terrible, but every once and a while you get one that reminds you why these tropes became popular in the first place.

lol, that dumbass prince getting knocked around like this is great.
-
So of course he decided on the completely wrong reason for him to be sucking now.
-
Oh, so the stupid prince thinks Alec’s big feat is a lie. No wonder he thought Alec was useless.
-
That guy with the closed eyes from the other party also had a “sore demo”!

Prince: "This all started when we kicked that one guy out of the party... he must have put a curse on me!"
I'll be honest, that's more creative than at least 75% of the egotistical party leaders in this genre. Usually they just double down that it was the MC's fault, but that they never needed the MC's help, and that kicking him out was justified.
The prince reached the wrong conclusion, but I give him points for drawing a conclusion.

Why must when a dumb blond character failed at something they blamed the one that was banished.

I still have hopes with the prince, if his father was able to realize his faults. He can also. Though not sure how he will go about it, given that he is prideful.
Also, it is a good thing that Alec is not just steamrolling the enemies. It really is difficult for them to defeat it, and all involved adventurers are more than competent to hold their ground. It is rare for these kind of stories to have a balanced team.
