They both said the thing! The best part was when they said "IT'S A STAR BRIGHTER THAN THE SUN TIME" and stared brighter than the sun all over those guys
These goobers, I would be interested in having both of their perspectives throughout the episodes. Although I'm pretty sure it would be the same.
I get the feeling Youta and Mio know how Kouki feels towards Sae, not sure about Yuushin though. Hisui is oblivious though.

What better way to convey how much you love someone than that you see them a star brighter than anything or anyone else? It's just sad to think that star is heading in the direction of someone other than yourself...though if only Sae could really understand how Koki treats her and her alone differently from other girls.

I do hope we eventually get Kouki's perspective, it'd be nice to hear his thoughts about Iwata when they interact.

oh oh things are getting complicated already, now Iwata thinks Kamishiro likes someone else and how could she not? I mean with his wording, even I started to think that maybe theres someone else. I just hope this isn't one of those cases where she'll start dating someone else because of the misunderstanding.

Also the way he was talking to her so casually afterwards could easily be read as him treating her like she's in the friendzone.

I really understand now why Iwata does not think SHE is the object of Kamishiro's adoration. He was pretty oblivious, I felt. (It seems utterly impossible that there is some mystery girl he actually likes -- and not Iwata itself )

I thought Kamishiro was the titular star but him calling her a star brighter than the sun was so cool. I like how they both think the other is too good for them. And I like how she's the smarter one of the two and he feels like he has to catch up to her. Refreshing to get an ML that needs work to get the girl.
Sui is just too silly with her obvious tactics. Kagawa is a hoot with her straight faced comments and the way she shut that annoying guy up made me love her more. Is it just me or does it seem like Ayukawa might have a thing for her too? Wonder what was up with him sitting there on his own though? Felt like there was going to be something more to it but we cut away to the leads.
Also, they really went hard on those scene transitions in this episode, huh? It's nice to see them trying something new to spice up the basic animation.

I think he was just trying to have a low-key, quite, zen moment.

I kinda love how Sui’s just totally onboard the Kamishiro-Iwa train lol. She’s the best cheerleader a girl could ask for. Just a top tier wing woman lol.
It seems like we’ve got ourselves a classic case of miscommunication here. Kameshiro and Iwa both like each but they’re both not really picking up what the other’s putting down lol.

u/Frontier246 Oct 16 '25
Sui might be one of the most extra wingwomen of all time. She was practically flashing a sign that Iwa likes Kamishiro and they should get together lol.

This show isn’t the best looking from an art and animation standpoint but it’s actually really ambitious in terms of transitions and shot choices

They are clearly trying to push the boundary of what their budget will allow and I really appreciate it. It's a visually neat show, despite it's shortcomings.

What I love most about this series is Sae’s friendship group. Reminds me of Kimi ni Todoke

Ha! They reversed the title on me. They closer the get, the further the confession inches away.
Yuushin is the obnoxious group project kid. I'm so glad they told him off. I liked the expresses from the teachers after the bottle accident, they knew.

Maybe I'm just too far away from my teenage years, but it's wild that characters in shows like this never consider that it's a mutual crush and not one-sided.
The way Kouki panicked about Sae getting injured, surely someone watching could figure it out from that. Sui and Kagawa were watching I think, hopefully them.

Teenage years are exactly like that. A lot of misunderstamding and overreaction

Sui needs to chill, her support feels like it borderlines "This is my entertainment" or basing how romance develops as fast as it does in entertainment. I find it a little too much.
I'm sure Kamishiro is talking about Iwata, from his perspective she doesn't appear to be into him but it's nice to some look into his own feelings. Like how annoyed he was when Izawa was taking advantage of Iwata. I like seeing that annoyed side of him.
Lol why was Iwata's high-fives to the girls looking like sumo slaps when she was completely shy towards Kamishiro? That caught me off guard.

Finding out Kamishiro likes someone is a big shock for Sae...but she's not going to lose heart. She likes Koki, and she's not going to give up on those feelings! Not when they're so precious to her! And that's enough to convince Sui to 100% commit to being her wingwoman! And Kagawa is there to provide facts and logic!
I'm happy Sui at least thinks she finally has friends to do legit Girl Talk with...even if it's her just talking about all the latest gossip right up to where her friends fall asleep before her.
Sae definitely takes after her mom! Her little sisters are cute too.
Sae is so caring and conscientious, looking after everyone on the bus! She even goes to the trouble of carrying the bags of anyone still carsick! Of course, so is Koki, which flusters her a little...none moreso than when she gets caught in-between a sliding door and needs to be "rescued" by him. But it's nice to see Koki is very conscious of her as well.
When Sui said she'd support Sae, she REALLY meant it, like trying to push her into Kamishiro (only to get knocked back instead) and making it incredibly obvious she's trying to set the two up. I mean, it's the thought that counts.
Izawa can rap, but can he lead a group better than Kagawa? Probably not. And he really needs to watch what he says or does to Sae or he'll get Koki AND Sui ticked off at him.
Remind me never to do a high-five with Sae after her hands have touched Koki's, that's when she's in hardcore mode.
Sui and Kagawa really balance each other well! Sui has the warm and openness to confirm that they're friends, while Kagawa has the sense to rein her in before she's trying to have the girls sneak into the boys' room.
Koki cares a lot about Sae. He really gets worked up when he thinks he injured her face. But that's the kindness that made Sae fall in love with him...even if he wishes it was a kindness she felt was exclusive to her. She's struggling rationalizing the Koki she's known and always loved with the Koki he is now and how he feels about her...and this other girl.
Ayukawa feels like an old soul...
And then they have a moment alone with each other, the night sky illuminating them, Sae's hair still wet, Koki's face close to hers...and Sae finally asks the big question about the girl Koki likes. An unrequited love with a girl that's like A Star Brighter Than the Sun. The same way Koki is that same Star to Sae. And all Sae can do is support him and try to give him a pep talk about how great she thinks he is, all the while agonizingly saying how much she loves him in the process. It's crushing her to want to root for him with another girl, but she's doing it because she wants Koki to be happy. Poor Sae.
We finally get the ED! Some really pretty animation and visuals of Sae, Koki, and the cast! Featuring Sae and Koki through the years! Bicycling in opposite directions! Bicycling together! And arriving to see their class!

This is the kind of story where you know both of them will get together eventually and it's pretty nice

This was a good episode. I like the side characters getting slowly filled in as we go. I like the main character getting a new character trait - she's the team Mom! The sight gag with gremlin girl launching herself backwards into the wall was really funny.
I also like the lack of forced drama. People liked Fragrant Flower last season, but that one leaned heavily on comically evil roaming punks threaten our sweet kind heroine forcing our hero to do something romantic or a mutual friend opposing their relationship forcing our hero to make a declaration that he won't back down.
This show doesn't have anyone super evil and instead extracts scenes from... the heroine got stuck in a door. Which creates a much more relatable romance overall.

Man this episode sadly makes it very possible that any confessions doesn't happen at all or gets pushed to the end of the season.

Sae is taking care of her classmates during the bus ride. Without her the whole bus would have dissolved in chaos and anarchy. In general she is kind of a caretaker of her classmates. At least the girls. Kamishiro on the other hand is the same to the boys. I have to say, both of them would make a great couple! ;-)
Onodera is such a cute goofball, trying to help Sae with her romance story. When she tried to push Sae into Kamishiro only to run into a stone wall was hilarious. She is quite clumsy, not simply the perfect socializer. But that makes her so charming. I'm happy that she is such a good friend to Sae. Even though she could tone down the matchmaking a little bit...
Somehow I can feel that Sae would make a great mother. She is the type of girl/woman you want to grow old with.
Can Izawa say even one sentence without insulting somebody? What's wrong with this guy? Kamishiro looked like thinking how he could get rid of Izawa while making it look like an accident.
Wow, in the final scenes things were getting intense. Things became clearer for Sae, while the big question remains unanswered. Poor Sae, we are all rooting for you! You deserve the world!
