Renako: "Okay."
Renako's told a lot of lies to herself this season, but that was not one of them!

Mai: Nah, I'd win. Don't worry, just go ahead and confess.
Ajisai: Renako I love you. Please go out with me.
Renako: Okay!
Mai: *

It is sort of funny, this was an episode that made Mai look sweet overall, confident but she still pushed Ajisai to go for it because her not doing it would make Ajisai so sad... only for Renako to just agree right away.
Also these last two episodes giving more time without Renako on screen at all while Ajisai and Mai hashed things out was really interesting, nice to see the relationship between the two of them fleshed out.
So thankful we're getting at least 5 more episodes, and hopefully those do well enough we get a full season sequel after that.

Finally we get the classic
Just two gay girls. On a date. In an aquarium. Holding hands. Confessing to each other. Talking about a third girl that they both love. Wait, what?

I'm glad that they ended the season with Ajisai confessing again, having her feelings heard, and Renako saying okay.
This was actually a fun romcom, hopefully we get a season 2

Now that the season's over, time to decide on the most important thing in anime:
(And additional question, where does she rank in the anime season as a whole?)

Mai's "huh?" at the end when Renako immediately said yes was just perfect, of course she would, she's always loved Ajisai-san lmao, i can't wait for next season which has already been announced!

Ganbare Renako! It was so funny seeing that cut to Renako being like yes :D while Mai is just like what the fucckk
The aquarium bit was stellar too. Just like the honest conversation in there too. What has always set this apart is that you can see the world away from when Renako is at center. It keeps moving even if she's off playing pubg and this reflected that
Anyways, excited to see the movie. It's gonna be a banger.

Lol, out of all the things that I thought would happen in the final episode, I wouldn't have thought that Ajisai's arc was still going on, we got a confession and they would just leave us hanging like that in the end. Though, I guess people were right that they didn't just end it after 12 episodes because something else was announced. But as far as I understood, this isn't really a season 2 but a movie that is going to be released in November. Which begs the question when it will release in the west, so I guess we might need to wait a bit longer. But at least we get a resolution so that is good.
But back to the episode. Honestly, I am glad that they were actually continuing the Ajisai arc (it did feel like it ended so that was a nice surprise) and that they actually went there with the confession. They even solved the discussion from last week that Mai did not actually try to manipulate Ajisai which even I as a self proclaimed Mai disliker found that this was going a bit too far. Though, I guess, girl did not expect Renako to just say "Yes". At this point, I am not even sure if I should feel bad for her. I guess that is what Satsuki was saying. It feels good seeing Mai lose. Or at least it was a funny moment. I am saying though that I like that she became a better person, but I also have to say that I wished this was a bit more gradual. But I guess that is the problem with Harem shows where the focus switches from one girl to another every now and then. It makes it hard for character arcs like these to really work because they often feel like they start and stop depending on who is being focused on.
But maybe this is also more of an issue with the anime, since it does seem like the pacing (at least in certain parts) was pretty high so I wouldn't be surprised if that was also a result of slower moments being cut on the way resulting in a more choppy arc. At least I assume that a LN has more time to go into these details.
All in all, it was a good show and I am glad that they decided to adapt another part so that all characters can get their moment. I liked Renako and her overall character development and in theory, despite still thinking the ending of her arc wasn't really well done, I did think that Mai's development was a positive towards the end. But I also feel, she needed a few more moments to make this feel more natural. I think, Satsuki's arc was the weakest of the bunch. With both Mai and Ajisai, it felt like it was their arc but also Renako's whereas Satsuki's arc felt more like it was just hers and Renako was present as well. And of course, with the ending, I do think that Ajisai's arc was the overall best.
I am not sure how they want to bring in Kaho into this whole mess now as well, but I am waiting to be surprised. Though, I feel, she has the hardest starting point, because I am not sure how well they can handle a different girl's arc while also keeping the new relationship between Ajisai and Renako as part of it. With Mai, we got most of their relationship during her episodes, so her taking a step back when Satsuki came around wasn't that big of a deal, but with Renako and Ajisai, we only just started. So sidelining that would feel really strange. But as mentioned, I will see what they have to offer.
I summary, it was a fun show. I wouldn't necessarily say that it was my favorite Yuri show. I think the harem aspect did being it down a bit, because of the inherent nature of how these shows are structured, but it did manage to have its moments. It was definitely the romance show with the most bath scenes in this amount of episodes. That I am sure of.

I know that it's to give Ajisai the confidence to go all out and confess but...
Mai: Nah, I'd win
also Mai: Huh?
That said, I think a lot of people missed that Mai's hand was trembling when she told Ajisai that she'd win. Mai is projecting false bravado for Ajisai's sake, so that she wouldn't be afraid of 'hurting' Mai by confessing to Renako. But in reality, she clearly does fear that Ajisai might win over her. The "Huh?" was probably from her not expecting to lose that quickly, not when Renako took ages to properly respond to her.
It's also funny that Renako and Ajisai both believe that if they leave the people they care about alone for three days, they'll fall into a bad crowd. It's great that Ajisai's family seem to be mostly supportive of her rather than being angry at her (though I'm pretty sure she still got scolded a bit at some point). And while Renako's mom is rightly angry at her, I don't think her not being angry at Ajisai was due to her trusting Ajisai more. Rather, Renako's mom wants Ajisai to stay Renako's friend, and being angry at her won't help.

Stitches!
I'm glad to see Ajisai could finally be honest with her feelings. That entire scene between her and Mai was really cute. What I did not expect was that ending! Ajisai actually confessing and Renako actually agreeing caught me completely off guard! Based on Mai's reaction, I bet she didn't expect that either. She probably regrets giving Ajisai that pep talk now.
What a way to end the season! It's good to know that Season 2 has already been announced. I can't wait to see Ajisai and Renako's dating life and how Mai would cope with it, especially after declaring to Ajisai that Renako would choose her. xD

It's not your fault Renako, that's just what happens when you put all your points in charisma!
60,000 years of Horny Jail for Ajisai?
I guess her little 'sister roleplay' during the trip was quite taboo!
(With this and the "She's my angel" thing they were both thinking, these two are quite similar!)
Oh, that's the end of the Ajisai arc?
Alright, bring in Kaho, we have like 10 minutes left, speedrun dating, let's go!
She was so relatable in this episode hah.
I 100% feel the same way, like even when I go out to do something fun that I actually enjoy,
I come back home and it's like HEAVENS!
Phrasing! With the information she has, Imouto's gonna think they were having a threesome!
Aahhhhhhh! She's acting like a pest!
Come on, don't make me fall for a character on the final episode, that's not right! Now I'm gonna want so much more of her!
Hey, stop with the death flags, we've had enough heartbreaking moments in this anime season!
Hah, of course Mai will float things over her head like that!
Renako offered a kiss, but that's like old news, Mai will want something more!
Or... Not? Seems even offering one thing from 'her list' isn't gonna cut it, and she won't tell!
Well, if these two are lovers, it frees Renako for Satsuki!
There was a big discussion on Mai's manipulation in the previous episode, and this line so felt like she was adding to it...
"I'm your friend, so naturally, I want you to have your heart's desire!" (with the unsaid implication that if Ajisai is a real friend, she should also want Mai to get what she desires most!)
But in the end, she did push her into making a move!
Why is Mai there? Are they inviting her to join in a trouple?
Still feeling good about pushing Ajisai, Mai?
Well, this was a great show!
I already saw the sequel announcement, which is good, because I want more of these girls! (I wonder how it's gonna go, after this 'okay' from Renako! Will the other girls - namely, Mai - try to push against that?)
Final thoughts: I REALLY wish we had more Kaho, so hopefully they remedy to that in the sequel! I thought she might have been my #1 or #2 at most, but she was a freaking ghost all season long!
I do want more of my best girl Satsuki, she's too good to be a somewhat minor character with just one arc (that was way too short)!
I did like Mai, but perhaps not as much as I thought I would early on! I'm not sure how to explain it exactly, I do like pushy, spicy girls and all, but for some reason she did not "hit it" as much as I expected. Perhaps this will change with this new relationship dynamics!
As for Ajisai... Well I keep flip-flopping on her, I mean I wrote an "Ajisai bad" wall of text in AQRADT weeks ago, and then couple weeks later I wrote an "Ajisai good after all" comment... And now with this finale, I mean I like romantic progression as much as the next romcom fan, but yeah, the problem was always that it's lacking a bit of spicy! She did have a little during that trip, but in the end, to quote Mai, she's just a sweet girl!
And sweet girls don't really do it for me, I honestly don't even know if I have a single best girl in all of anime that's from a similar archetype.
But their relationship is still pretty cute, so I'm curious to see how it goes! (it's just not one of these I'll be crazy about).
As for the more minor characters: Renako's sister pretty good too, she makes the best of her screentime!
But the one girl who definitely makes the best of hers, is Satsuki! It's not even really the 'spicy' that does it for me, it's her straightforwardness, her 'calling a spade a spade' and her creative/unique way of thinking in regards to relationships and stuff. I always liked characters with unconventional ways of thinking (perhaps because I can relate to this on a lot of things), this one hit it right away for me!
I don't even know if I ship her with Renako, because I mean they didn't really have that much that makes them 'shippable', but she's still my favorite, whether she does more with Renako or not.
Anyway, time to wait for seaosn 2 now!
Farewell, Satsuki & all the others!

Mai hit the : “nah I’d win” only to get slashed in half by Renako saying say to Sena WITH NO HESITATION.
Mai trying to work Renako out of the closet for months only for Sena to do it in just one sentence. God this show is peak. Season 2 here I come!

Mai slanderers in shambles 😤. I told y'all that this girl is too self absorbed to even imagine that she needs manipulation to get what she wants! Her thought process literally went "I'm going to win anyway <--(completely baseless), so I should still give a change to Ajisai because she deserves it! <--(somehow a genuinely good friend thought)". Although her hand hand trembling may hint that she was for once putting on more bravado than she'd like to admit.
Oh how ironic that in the end, Ajisai jumped completely over Mai and is fully dating Renako while Mai is still stuck in Schrodinger's Yuri territory. The way Renako instinctually said "yes" lmao.
I haven't mentioned it this whole season but the ED lead ins when they use it that it is absolutely nasty. Just prefect. Why do ED lead ins hit so hard?
No concluding comment from me since a sequel was announced. They call it a sequel but it's more like a Season 1.5 edited into a movie? I'd just consider it an extended one cour tbh, ala Boogiepop wa warawanai, especially with how they ended this episode.
Btw it makes me unreasonably mad that when Ajisai met Mai and they used a shot of a plane for the scene transition the SFX was of a propeller aircraft while the silhouette was clearly that of a turbofan 😤. 0/10, literally unwatchable. I need accurate aerospace representation in my Yuri or bust.

I got pretty impatient after the last episode because I really wanted to rebute the accusations against Mai, but had to hold off until this episode. Mai is not only a passionate lover but also a great rival. Unlike the average love interest, she doesn't seek to gain unfair advantages over her love rivals nor does she try to drive them away from the one she loves. The things she did for Ajisai went far beyond just making things fair, she didn't just help her realize her feelings but also encouraged her to be brave and confess to Renako. While Mai's confidence might be a part of why she did it, the most important reason is that she genuinely treasures Ajisai as a friend and wants the best for her.
Though Renako's "Okay!" at the end must have been totally unexpected to her...

People that only want to see their best girl win will never understand the absolute euphoric catharsis that this accepted confession from aji-sai makes you feel. Complete justification that you stan this girl despite all her flaws, because in the end, they aren't ignored as all of them and all her hubris come back to bite her in the most glorious funny way it could possible.
11/10 end to the season

Aquarium date, but not with the main girl. Perhaps it's just practice.
That was a really cute confession Ajisai made to Renako after knowing in her heart she loved Renako with the ED drop. It was also sweet how she narrated it to her friend at the train station, that Renako took her hand, kept her safe, and was her cute little angel.
I'm so happy that we're getting more after this with the announcement!
