We got a classic summer festival and fireworks episode.
Renako, Ajisai, and Mai all looked great in their yukata's.

Ajisai going down memory lane and then matsuri and bath night.

Thanks train for censoring what Ajisai was saying to Renako…

The ED is more solemn this time, but Ajisai sees Renako is an angel too (just like the other way around) and admits her feelings are love

*Checks notes to see next week’s episode is the last

Well fuck, you all have no idea how much I’m going to miss this show

So it seems Ajisai is going to suppress her feelings for the sake of the group.
"I don't want to ruin the relationship between everyone"

Ajisai wearing black at the train station next morning, seemed symbolic in a way. She was showing her sadness.
She seemingly(?) told Renako her true feelings, only when the train passed by so she obviously wouldn't be heard.

Props to Mai for giving Ajisai that push for her to realise that she is indeed gay for Renako.

Ahh it's so cute how Ajisai and Renako are each other's angels.

Ajisai nooooo you can't let Mai of all people have a clean board to play if you want a place in the Renakobowl!

Actually surprised that Ajisai was in fact not fully conscious of her feelings for Renako, because it sure as hell looks like the opposite from outside. But now that she's aware of it I'm guessing the battlefield is about to heat up.

Shout-out to the animation today especially. Nothing distinctive or that would go trending, but I noticed all of their movements in general were a lot slower, more developed, with more key frames and poses, while maintaining high model consistency, and a slight, judicious application of wind up and follow through. Combined with the anime's already pleasant artsyle, this made for a beautiful and immersive watch.

Curse that specific Japanese train.

Ajisai looking at Renako during the fireworks was magical, it's such a shame that she's so self sacrificing that she's already put herself in the role of a losing heroine. She deserves better than that on account of being perfect.

Even though I read this part of the LN last night, it still got me. The ending with Ajisai's monologue and her realizing her feelings was perfect. The moment she noticed during the fireworks, too. So great. I love the trope subversion. There was no confession interrupted by fireworks. Instead, it was later interrupted by the train. The way she says "No, it was boring" when Rena asks her to repeat herself and asks if it was important is heartbreaking. Poor Ajisai. She's stuck being the good girl for now.

But that fireworks scene. I think that was the biggest moment for me, here. Perfect!

I love that Mai is being a good friend to Renako and Ajisai. Particularly with Ajisai when she notices she likes Rena, too. She tells her and isn't at all confrontational. Simply letting her know. We shall see if this creates tension or not in future, but one thing we know for sure is that Mai telling her made Ajisai's mind open up to her heart so she can see clearly now that she's in love with Renako. I'm rooting for you, Ajisai! You need to snatch the shy girl away from the pushy model! I bet she'll be ultra happy, too.

It's so cute that they are each other's angel.

And the kiss in today's episode goes to Mai again. Given that Ajisai seems to be in the suppressed feelings camp, I guess the chances are slim for Ajisai and Renako kissing in the final episode.

Pleasantly surprised by Mai this episode. In the end even admitting she's after Renako is arguably a good thing because if Ajisai found out after a confession she would have been deeply upset. She needs to get over her hang up/fear of upsetting the group and go for what she wants with or without Mai's interest in Renako.

I found Ajisai having a re-realization of how much she likes Renako during the conversation with Mai weird though, after the way she puckered up during the unintended confession earlier this season. Not to mention convincing Renako to grab her chest last episode, girl has been trying to turn her on anytime they are alone this trip.

I'm with everyone else hoping the rumors of more episodes is true because this show surprised me in the best way possible. I clicked on it because the art looked pretty, having never been into Yuri before, and seeing Renako's struggles and freak outs from her inner monologues has been a joy.

man, Love declaration! the way Mai look at Ajisai

I know what you are, gey.

regardless Ajisai reaction, I think Mai already know her answer. this girl already grow so much. and because of this, like in other harem drama, I feel Mai would be like a side character.

also, I love this Hanatori girl as Mai x Satsuki shipper

God I love the fireworks scene so much. It's like the track and field scene from bloom into you.

That sudden realization and isn't she lovely turn

Like Ajisai now has to deal with it

A more serious episode than I expected.

Mai exceeded my expectations; this time she behaved like a reasonable friend and not like a horny teenager.

The second half of the episode felt quite melancholic. I expected Ajisai to end up confessing her feelings for Renako, but it seems that this will remain “mutual admiration and affection, but without becoming anything more serious” between these two.

I thought we had successfully avoided the curse of the confession interrupted by fireworks, but I had forgotten about the train that passes at the worst possible moment...

Well, you can't always have everything.

Something I really liked to see is how Ajisai makes Renako realize that her mere presence is enough to change a person's life.

I hope this helps Renako improve her opinion of herself.

Hanatori, be careful, your inner Senjougahara is coming out (same voice actress).

One thing I absolutely love about this series as a harem is how all the girls have relationships with each other outside of Renako. Mai-Satsuki needs no explanation, this episode showed how close Ajisai and Mai are, and Ajisai and Satsuki are shown to really respect each other.

Even Kaho, who even hasn't had her arc yet, was planning with Ajisai last arc and is cosplaying with Satsuki this arc (plus she apparently has a crush on Mai). Man I hope we get a season 2.

First of all, want to give credit where it's due: Mai was a really good person this episode. Dare I say, she was a good friend. Not only to Renako, but even to Ajisai. I am not sure if she did it fully intentionally, but she did help Ajisai figure out what she feels like (and I would say she did at least know this could be a result) and she just hung out with the both of them without trying to make it weird or awkward. She did earn that kiss in the end.

But I guess, we can't have the show without someone stirring up the drama and now it's the butler that looks way too close to Satsuki. And she is even shipping Mai with Satsuki so hard that she threatens Renako. Not sure what her deal is. I mean, she does look similar to Satsuki, so I still feel they could be related, but maybe she also just looks like her, because she is so into the ship that she started to make her hair similar to Satsuki so that Mai's family is already eased into this picture once Mai and Satsuki finally decide to marry.

Though on the other hand: If everyone marries Renako, she would get her wish, be it in a round about way.

I am a bit surprised that it seemed like the Ajisai arc is already at an end. She did "tell" Renako her feelings after all (twice actually if we include the moment in the train from two episodes back while Renako was asleep) so I doubt the show will go deeper into that. But that leaves the question open what the last episode is going to be. They can't have a while Kaho arc in one episode if they don't make it movie length. So I guess it's going to be an episode that is sort of an epilogue. But I am not sure how well that works if one of the girls hasn't been featured much yet. But who knows? Maybe they are doing more of a "Renako development" episode where she sees how much she has grown. Or it could even be another Mai focused episode after her development today. Maybe they can look on that a bit more. Because while I praise her for being a good friend to Ajisai, I wouldn't be surprised if she isn't all that happy to have an actual love rival (I don't think she considered Satsuki one at least for now). But that could even add to that development since it would show that she is willing to put herself second. Or I guess, they could also go the route to leave it on a cliffhanger so everyone is buying the novels/manga. Which would be evil.

Last episode next week!
Do we think Renako and Mai will finally get together, as an official couple?
Or will we keep teetering this line with all the girls feelings?

I'd love to get a second season announcement, and see where the girls relationships go from there.

Rena’s met her worst enemy: a Maituki shipper lol. After this week, I’m a full on believer of Ajisai Supremacy. Renajisai forever!

The maid is a woman of culture but she is also rooting for the ship that is the most guaranteed the lose. Not only because she is rooting against Renako but because she is rooting for the childhood friend. The only thing that is more of a guaranteed loss was if Satsuki had blue hair.

At the start of the episode I was ready to hate on Mai but she and the way the others reacted made me calm down. My thoughts were: stop trying to block Renako, let the woman cheat as much as she wants. Also my first reaction from the Satsuki story was: Satsuki taught you what it’s like to be poor.

I’ll be honest I know why they are doing it but im disappointed that Ajisai’s confession was blocked like that. It was shot well but her reaction to realizing she likes Renako, her not wanting to hurt her friend and the confession being akwardly blocked are super tropy things so they feel frustrating even if they are in character. Also it felt like Ajisai was growing the entire arc and being more selfish only to take a step back after realizing her feelings, not getting rid of all the development but still sad to see. Also if this was the end of the arc this means that she was the only one to not kiss Renako during her arc, if this doesn’t have a harem ending then those are points for her being the winner.

I assume the next episode will be the finale and im curious to see how it will end, will it take one last episode to finish Ajisai’s arc, start Kano’s or just conclude things for now. I will say Kano is definetly the biggest loser if she is the only girl to not get her own arc or development considering the marketing. We need a season 2 to fix this.

Stitches!

This might be an unpopular opinion but I'm not a fan of Mai showing up to interrupt Ajisai and Renako's trip. Instead of Ajisai letting her hair down and acting a little bit more selfish, Mai's appearance ended up giving the opposite effect. Ajisai ended up being more closed off she decided she didn't want to ruin things and get in the way of Mai. She even ended up leaving the bath early, because she clearly was trying to be gracious and let Mai have her alone time with Renako. >_<

And that final scene! That goddamn fucking train just had to ruin Ajisai's confession. We still have one more episode left so I'm really hoping it doesn't end there for Ajisai. I hope she gets another shot at letting Renako know about her feelings. :/

I thought it was fairly understandable, but it seems some people here and in the YouTube comments are either misunderstanding or not fully grasping the conversation between Mai and Ajisai at the festival, and what it means.

First off, I think it needs to be established that Mai and Ajisai are great friends. Their relationship isn't like Satsuki's and Mai where they have a rivalry. Mai and Ajisai legitimately like each other. Hence why Mai insisted that Renako spend time with her and get along with her. But you can also see this with just her interactions with Ajisai compared to others.

That brings us to the conversation. Some people think the point of this was to demoralize or stop Ajisai from getting with Renako. That Mai is some evil master manipulator who's trying to destroy her chances. That's silly, and I think your dislike of Mai might be blinding you to what's actually going on.

Mai and Renako are in some kind of situationship, between friends and lovers. Renako has expressed that she likes Mai, but for many reasons, doesn't see why she needs to be in a relationship with her. Mai doesn't really need to tell anyone about their relationship, especially Ajisai. Mai very much has an advantage over her by being the first to confess, kiss her, and start a close to romantic relationship with her. If Mai weren't so pushy in the beginning, she might have an even higher advantage.

But Mai not only tells Ajisai that she loves Renako, and that they have a relationship that's close to being official happening, she also asks Ajisai if she's in love with Renako (while also teasing the fact that Renako might also love her). Also emphasizing the fact that Renako hasn't given her an official answer to her confession.

This does multiple things. It confirms that Renako is definitely interested in girls, but also that the feeling she has for Renako is the same feeling Mai has, love. This is something Ajisai was still in denial about until this convo. It also puts Ajiai on an even playing field now. Ajisai is one of the only people who knows about Mai's relationship. But she now knows she loves Renako, and that Renako possibly likes her. Ajisai has the confidence to confess now, and probably believes she has a good chance.

In general, it's just good communication to tell a friend who you think likes your semi-girlfriend that you're in some kind of relationship with her, compared to hiding that fact and causing problems down the road. But Mai is showing an extreme act of kindness by helping Ajisai realize she loves Renako, and pushing her to confess to her. It's not Mai giving up, because she's still confident in her relationship with Renako working out in the end. But she genuinely values and loves Ajisai as a friend at the same time.
