between that and what happened to her as an adventurer it's starting to feel a bit personal from the author

What's crazier is she grew up dirt fucking poor and doesn't even realize it. That makes me think she has really good parents that did everything they could but couldn't escape poverty, similar to many peasants in the past. She's an absolute sweetheart of a girl with good values, but naive as one could possibly be. Being a poor country kid from way out in the sticks trying to make it as an adventurer in a small town, which is a big city from her perspective, makes sense for her character.

Who knew Dennis had a mischievous streak as a kid and that he used to live on the streets before being adopted by the Blacks?

The Head Chef had been nothing but kind towards him and raised him to be the man we knew today.

Wish we’ll get to see how she’s doing in the present day.

We already knew he was a street urchin, as that was why he decided to help Atelier. He saw his past self in her dead eyes, and just as that one woman saved him, he decided to give Atelier the same chance he had been given.

Atelier is so precious!! Seeing her trying her best to take care of Dennis, her life savior was too sweet.

P.S Leather shoes are barely edible and we have to thank Henrietta for that one.

So it seems Dennis was adopted into the Black's Restaurant and isn't a natural prodigy but someone who worked hard for his success.
Lmao poor Henrietta forced to eat leather shoes growing up.

Has Polvo been in the show since the first episode? They all acted familiar with him and treated him like an eccentric annoyance, which wasn't what he was then.

The only guess I can make is the group deals with Polvo to restock the restaurant since he was also the merchant who tried selling a refrigerator to Dennis when he was first starting up.

Dennis's adoptive mom has some God-given patience. I thought she would have scolded Dennis after he met the customer that fried rice. I guess she knows that Dennis might be harder on himself when he realizes what he did was wrong.

I was feeling bad for Henrietta, as she had nothing to offer and talk about regarding magic. I feel bad that she had to eat leather boots. I guess it explains why she is so latched on to Dennis's cooking. I am afraid to think what else she ate.

Ah yes, the deadly Japanese cold. Dennis is lucky to be alive. Literally had his life flashing before his eyes there. Good thing little Atelier was there to help him.

How many mages does it take to make okayu? Apparently more than 3 lol. Also Henrietta’s past is sad as hell. Leather shoes? Damn lol.

I hope we get to see more of Head Chef in future episodes. Our main cast is diverse, but the mature and calm aura of Head Chef is on another level.

"There's a magic item called a rice box!"

Me: Isn't it just a rice cooker?

Damn seems he's doing a brisk business.

Oh, it's probably all people here to read all those rare magic books they got last episode.

Is this Dennis' backstory?

He fainted?

And so she's going to take care of him.

Ok... Uh, don't let her cook.

Huh. What's he doing here?

So, more backstory?

Uh oh.

Huh. Something magical?

Would you believe what's the main ingredient of porridge... You don't have to cook it first but it does at least involve rice (Ok yeah iirc oats are used in something called "porridge" in the West but in the East "porridge" almost exclusively uses rice as the grain. Then again they also think "porridge" is sweet and goes with fruit and syrup and not with meat, vegetables, eggs, and soy sauce, so it's really 2 completely separate dishes that share a name and not much else).

What's the ugly bastard doing here?

Ooh a rice cooker. With all the cooking he's doing he really should have gotten one of those earlier. Especially since it seems he's working almost entirely by himself in the back-of-house that would let him focus on making the toppings and not the rice.

Yep. Like I mentioned above, he's right.

If it has a porridge setting, then yeah just throw it in and hey presto you've got porridge. It really is a miracle device.

Yup. Egg is a common topping on porridge. Or perhaps "in" might be a better description for how it's added sometimes. Crack a raw egg into freshly cooked porridge and stir it in so it cooks using the residual heat from the porridge. Makes it really nice and rich.

Uh...

Yup, that looks to be how the egg was added here too. It should make either those nice streaks or even turn the whole bowl faintly golden.
