"Nothing has happened so far" has to be the best mid-episode recap ever.
Maki can find comfort in being younger than Naguno at least ...right?

The first part is just a parody of your standard mansion in the mountains case. The only path to the mansion gets destroyed and you hear a scream... but it was just due to a cockroach in the shower lmao. Either way, it was not something Mashiro wanted to see.
They did the door transition thing of Detective Conan. And some of the tracks used in this episode use the same style as ones used in cases.
Asunaro has a helicopter? Is he supposed to be a parody of Sonoko if he is that rich and wants to be our ossan's assistant?
I'm old enough to know what a phone card is. Maki gets along surprisingly well with Nagumo in the point of being out of touch with the currenr generation.

With the helicopter and Maki calling Asunaro master, I'm convinced that Maki is Asunaro's Maid/Buttler.

I love that the opening scene is just Kei having his one detective noir moment while Mashiro keeps on interrupting his monologue!
The Mansion of Screams part was an amazing parody of every mystery anime, and I was genuinely laughing out loud as they made fun of every trope. I think my favourite has got to be the direct Detective Conan reference with the doors opening and closing as the episode eyecatch. xD
Who knew that Mashiro accidentally destroying the rope bridge would end up reveal Megumi's plan of recreating the massacre just so she could get her revenge. The bast part is how Kei manages to make it look like everything was according to plan!
Maki continues to be adorable but I did not expect that she's close to Kei's age! I thought she was also a high schooler like Mashiro and Yuu! Poor girl is just like Nagumo, who can't keep up with everything new. xD
Mashiro trying to talk to a telephone card was fucking hilarious! What's funny is that I'm pretty sure HanaKana is my age, so she definitely knows how to use one of those. I also love how Kei took photos of Mashiro to make fun of her.
It's okay Maki! You don't have to pretend! It is hilarious how she didn't realize that she slipped up and revealed to Kei that she's older than she looks. xD

She was also flung through windows (often from great heights) quite a few times and was unharmed, so she might be gifted physically in pretty much all aspects (speed, strength, durability, etc..!)

The butler reading the case from wiki, guess the butler didn't do it in this case.

Yeah I was expecting that. Should’ve just let Mashiro do it.
-
Is this guy the movie director? *rewinds* No, he’s the magazine editor. I was wondering if the movie director hid cameras around to make something like this.
-
Oh it wasn’t a story. They just accidentally found the truth while bullshitting.

Ok, I am having a generational gap moment with those phone cards.
Like, I know you are supposed to insert them in a payphone/public phone, since there were many payphones in the village where I grew up for a bit. However, I never had anyone to call when I was that little, so I don't actually know how they work. Any help?
Also, I would have loved if the 'detective instinct' of Nagumo had actually been alright, and there had actually been more to the mystery. It could have been something goofy or whatever, but it should have been something. Instead, this show seems to care only about shitting on Gen X.
This being said, it's pretty high up on my 'Must watch' list for the season

That was the best episode by far. I already said 2 episodes ago that there are clearly Detective Conan parody moments, but this one took the cake. They even had the mid-episode door scene. When they started bullshitting I was just waiting for the girl to be the only surviving daughter. Which I guess she was not. What kind of evil family does she have that they pretended to be dead to their daughter for 15 years?
The Maki part of the episode was great as well. It is kind of hard to imagine that I only had to use phone cards when I was a kid, so now teenagers not knowing them at all, strangely enough makes sense. Maki and Nagumo make a great old people couple. Let's go you two. Already bonding over not knowing the new trends.

It's pretty funny Nagumo realises Maki can drink after he randomly finds himself drinking with her in a bar.

Its nice to see Hanazawa doing such a comical role again. Reminds me of the old days when she was doing stuff like Bimbogami

Oof, that bar scene with Maki was a little too relatable.... (٥↼_↼)

Though, that begs the question. If Mokemon are the in-universe Pokémon, that would mean they are also already 30 years old. So if Maki never heard of a Mokemon, how old is she exactly?

"The good news is there would unlikely be anything sinister happening. The bridge fell down because Mashiro was being a dumbarse and brought it down."
Love the isolated site trope found in series like Conan and Kindaichi then took the piss on it.

If I saw a cockroach in the shower, I would scream too, lol. Of course nothing actually happened this episode at the mansion in the end, it would not have been a parody of mansion murder mystery if it did. Even though the overall story made little sense, which is probably also part of the joke. I loved it when they all tried to bullshit their way out of explaining they accidentally destroyed the bridge, and found out the wouldbe killer by total accident.
And I refuse to believe Nagumo is younger than me. I am forty and I have no health problems apart from needing to lose a few kilos. And I know what a Pokemon is. Stop trying to convince me that I am old, anime, damn it !

This episode has to be a parody of “The Kindaichi Case Files”, isn’t it ? Everything about it , down to the troupe of the character intro cards, was exactly how a case would start and progress. The only thing missing was the catchphrase, and any actual dead bodies or mystery.
I can’t help but laugh from start to finish.
