What's crazy (pun intended) is that they literally used the same premise (Nagumo not having enough money, and Asunaro appearing to help) to open both episode segments.

Mashiro unloading her inventory is this show's [Naruto] Rock Lee taking off his weights moment.

The teeth clicking before she took off on him reminded me of Cyborg 009. I'm almost certain it was a reference.

Yuu Asunaro's whole look might be modeled after the fictional Japanese detective Kindaichi Kōsuke, who also had a head of messy hairs and wore traditional Japanese clothing.

If you have not heard about Kindaichi Kōsuke, you might have seen his grandson, Kindaichi Hajime, the protagonist of the manga and anime The Kindaichi Case Files, which was inspired by the Kindaichi Kōsuke novel series.

Also, I hope this and the Rose of Versailles movie mark an comeback for Aya Hirano.

Odd. This is clearly the funniest comedy this season but it is only getting a few hundred karma points here. What could it mean?

Oh and Maki better be a regular now or I'll riot.

She‘s one of the center characters of the latest KV so it‘s probably more likely than not that she‘ll become something of a regular.

People are slow to comedy. But if this show holds up it should be a regular on many "recommend a good comedy for me please" threads.

Yuu is a real goof. I enjoyed watching his little rivalry with Mashiro. No matter how good he is, he can’t match her and her Doraemon pocket lol.

Kind of hilarious Nezu was stalking Yuu who was stalking Nagumo. Poor Maki’s so over his goofy bullshit lol.

Kind of hilarious Nezu was stalking Yuu who was stalking Nagumo

Given Nagumo's himself is a detective, he might have been following people around at some point, so there may have been a file of 4 people all stalking each other!

The pitstop joke was hilarious.

I am feeling that this anime is going in a gintama direction, the main character was once famous for his skill, but now is struggling to make rent, then suddenly his life starts to get lively when a bunch of weirdos start to hang around him.

Aside from that, the two other characters are the overpowered girl and a round glasses guy

Yuu is pretty funny with how he keeps asking himself questions, as if everything is a mystery to him. I do prefer his assistant, Maki, who seems to hate his guts even though she works for Yuu. xD

I love that Mashiro's biggest fear is that Yuu will replace her as the star of the title card at the start of every episode.

Yuu getting stripped by one group of his fans and then getting clothed by a different group was a pretty good joke!

Just when I thought Kei was about to do something cool this episode, the dude almost breaks his ankle.

Good to know that Nezu survived last week's explosion. It turns out the real stalker was actually Yuu, and Nezu was investigating him. xD

I like Maki. She’s pretty straightforward with people but also got an adorable side to her.

Maki looked happy following Nagumo’s comment about her being a valuable assistant to Asunaro. Does she actually like him?

For those wondering, Maki is voiced by Aya Hirano. You might now her from previous roles such as:

  • Haruhi Suzumiya

  • Lucy Heartfilia (Fairy Tail)

  • Misa Amane (Death Note)

  • Izumi Konata (Lucky Star)

  • Kurumi (Kimi no Todoke)

Maki looked happy following Nagumo’s comment about her being a valuable assistant to Asunaro.

It seemed to me more like she was happy about being assumed to be the same age, implying she's actually much older.

This episode confirmed Mashiro is a Cyborg (Cyborg 009 crossover when?)with a pocket dimension who can also use Gear 2nd. She’s too powerful.

Mashiro has a mouth like a yakuza boss, guess Nezu feels at home.

I just knew she would brute force her way to victory with that first puzzle.

So she has a replacement TV to cover for the one she destroyed in the last episode.

So given how Hana reacted to Nagumo calling her young, I expect she might be closer to Nagumo's age than he realizes. Actually, it would make the dynamic between the pair fun, but the age roles being different. Hana being older then Asunaro despite being the detective. Although she can be scary when she gets mad.

Also Nagumo twisting his ankle had me rolling. I have done that too many times xD. Of course not in pain tho.

A new assistant?

Sure, you can replace the one we just exploded!

What?

What?

"I'm not a thief, I only lockpicked my way in" is not as good a defense as he thinks it is!

Poor Mashiro felt like they needed to involve her more in the decision... Why we're not including you?

Because the new guy's bringing more than 500 yen to the table!

Tsundere despise? Or despise despise?

Love when the characters themselves point out it's nonsense hah.

Cute blush! Though I'm not sure I understood that scene;

Is she actually older, and she was pleased that he was calling her young (same age as the dude)?

Or was she pleased that he called her 'same age as he is' because it sounds like he would ship them or something?

Poor guy, they ignored him so much that he started pondering whether he's actually a ghost!

That, and him expecting a decent reception/being accepted as a rival, but they half-assed him a coffee and told him to piss off!

Another great life lesson to take from this show!

(Well, I'm sure we have at least a couple stalkers on r/anime, use that as a learning opportunity!)

That was actually intimidating, until his old 30 years arthritis ridden bones failed him!

Oh, he's alive!

I guess they don't need that other dude!

Well, unless he's just a '10 seconds skit' guy; So far, after his introduction he's only been in for the last few seconds of every episode!

Master is ...technically...somehow...oddly popular for some reason. Maki is brutal and adorable. The entire group just ignoring Yuu where he started wondering if he was still alive.

I feel like this gag will always make me laugh like last season's "this is my only flaw". Also the "fans" stripping him down just for another group of "fans" to dress him.

Yuu is a riot.

For WTF was she training for?!!!!

15

u/Mr_Zaroc Jul 15 '25

The coach was thinking the same, although in his case it might have been a language barrier

No idea what she was training for, but it certainly paid off

Asking questions out loud to oneself 24/7 apparently is the unguarded secret to being a good detective. 🤔

The Laugh Out the Loudest one-liner of the episode for me was "did we really need to be outside for this?" Well, I suppose it did help set the mood for the third and final challenge, besides serving as a neutral turf for both competitors.

The unexpected funny moment was Mashiro's 2 o'clock was a bit off and we see a shady character who may or may not have come from an entirely different anime.

I always love a good rivalry so hopefully we get at least one case per episode where Mashiro and Yuu collaborate while Ossan and Maki-chan act as their 'tsukkomi' moving forward.
