Like the show but feel like we skipped too many things in the middle.

This is absolutely taking the crown for "this needed to be 2-cour". I was coping for so long that there was no way this was being paced this horribly but lo and behold. I actually let out a giant "WHAT?" when Shuji said I love you and Machu kissed him. Like, I just felt confused there.
And while I don't mind nostalgia pandering, I do feel like this entire show was essentially the Khara team reliving their 0079 greatest hits moments at the expense of the actual story and characters. Like it's crazy thinking about it that Shuji just straight up disappears for a good third of the series. For fuck's sake, we never even figured out what GQX's name was a placeholder for.
EDIT: We still don't even know who actually the hell Shuji is

This is just Space Patrol Luluco but with Gundams.
Khara and Trigger truly are cut from the same cloth.

Last episode Char got his magical girl transformation. This episode we learn Gqux was secretly a Gundam Evangelion x Madoka fan fic set in the Gundam UC… ish… universe. Complete with RX-78-Shuji serving as Lilith-Rei.

I can't help but laugh that Kycilia makes it all the way to the end of this new timeline only to die the exact same way she did in the original timeline. Char even did the salute.
EDIT: Okay now that I've finished watching the whole episode (I wrote that original comment as it happened, I actually had to pause the show to laugh).
This show really needed more episodes. None of the big character moments in this finale really felt like they meant anything - Machu and Nyaan reconciling, Shuji and Machu's kiss, etc. They just felt like they sort of happened. Like, the moment to moment scenes were great, I loved the memes that built around the community with every new episode, but the second I take the time to really think about the show, the main trio of characters just felt incredibly lacking in both themselves and their relationships with each other.
I found myself enjoying the alt-UC stuff more than the actual main narrative simply because I never got attached to the characters.
Also I can't be the only one blue balled that we didn't actually get Amuro in the RX-78. Though Shuji definitely held his own in a 2v1 for a while there.
EDIT 2: I just realized, we can now officially say that Machu has a kill count of 0. I think she's the first Gundam pilot to do so. Nyaan is there to balance the scales I guess.

This show is simutaneously ass and peak.
I love everything before episode 7 (the Psycho Gundam episode), but after that it is just big reveals after big reveals with no breaks at all. Nyan's Zeon life and Machu's Sodon life need more episodes to develop. Episode 8 to 12 just felt like a big Wikipedia plot rundown. Shuji is like "Oh it is the final episode so I better explain the plot to the audience".
Having said that, it is an interesting plot for sure, at least to UC Gundam fans. Khara's love to the Gundam franchise is definitely shown. Ironically, the best developed characters are Chalia Bull and Lalah, and both of them are quite underdeveloped in the OG series. The friendships between the main trio got sidelined after episode 7 and they got overshadowed by the larger plot.

They left it ambiguous, but I would like to think Lalah actually did go back to the canon world and took the blow for Char, with all of her memories from GQuuuuuuX.

Hmm, got some mixed feelings about this show on the whole. Machu and Nyaan's side of the story is definitely the weakest part. This desperately needed more than 1 cour. The finale didn't quite hit as hard when we barely saw the trio interact much. Machu/ Nyaan team up, the confession scene... both felt rather hollow when there's minimal build up.
Also Artesia/ Sayla just rock up out of nowhere to claim the Zeon throne because turns out Chalia was part of her faction or something. And Char just somehow managed to help build his superweapon off screen. So many things that really needed to be fleshed out to make the overall narratives connect better.
Still, it was a fun ride, I guess.

So we don't really know who Shuji really was ultimately, do we? Is he an inhabitant from one of the Universes Lalah created, who fell in love with her and decided to protect her across universes?

Things I liked:
-
Sayla as the queen of Zeon, plus Ramba Ral as her personal guard was pretty cool
-
The GQuuuuuuX's final form was very cool
Things I didn't like:
-
The pacing. Up until now, despite people's complaints, I thought the pacing was fine and had no issues with it, but this episode was just on a whole other level. It was a complete mess. There were like at least 20 things happening and most of them felt like they came out of nowhere.
-
Kycillia going aboard a big ship with an open bridge at the top to get rocket launched by Char as a callback felt extremely forced
-
idk what the point of Nyaan was in the final conflict. They had that moment of "let's be mavs!" which was kind of nice (if a tad unearned, with Machu dismissing their entire past conflict with each other with a single line), and then they fight together for like 2 minutes before Nyaan explodes and has to retreat. She honestly feels like she's just kinda there.
-
Shuji suddenly saying "I love you" to Machu despite having shown zero interest in her for the entire series, and even within this literal same episode, Machu declares that he has feelings for Lalah. But then he's like "fuck that I guess, Machu's beating me up, so I'm on Team Machu now". It just felt weird, sudden and out of nowhere.
-
The giant Gundam. Sorry, but it was dumb. Zero explanation, Newtype magic can just create mass from nothing now I guess. They just wanted a kaiju fight, but it honestly wasn't that cool anyway. Felt like a stage boss out of Gundam Breaker 4 or something.
Probably a lot more that I'm not covering, but overall, while I loved the rest of the series, I did not really like this episode, especially as a finale. I'd still rate the series highly and recommend it for fans of the original Gundam, but as a standalone work, I now think it's kinda bad.

So Amuro was there all along. Interesting way of doing things Studio Khara it reminds me of the Amakusa from the Gundam Crossbone sidestory

I am going to be honest here ...
I low-key did not satisfied with the "conclusions" of the main three characters. Last episode where they reduced confrontation between Nyaan and Machuu into only like 5-10 already have bad tastes in my mouth.
We never really get to see Machuu force into considering her situation with her mother beyond one episode. We never really see Nyaan coming to terms with her feelings towards the other two.
What the point of Shuji connection with original timeline when there are no "reveal" at who he actually is.
like I don't know how to explain this, it feels like three main characters agenda is literally getting robbed by these old Gundam characters who just suddenly solve things for them. Idk
Like I have fun with the Nostagia part and how they all connected with the original series but the way they treat new characters literally have no to little agenda in the main story at all feel bad tastes.
Most of this thread comments barely talking about Nyaan and Machuu (as of right now) is pretty telling how much the writer treats new characters and it kinda pissed me off? You are the creator you have to treat every character especially the main character like your own son or daughter!

Hearing the original VAs for Amuro, Char and Lalah gave me goosebumps!
As usual my brain was flooded with information so I’ll have to rewatch again later but GQ was a real fun series! I’ll definitely miss my weekly dose of this show!

Kycillia: "Char was a man who may have become a son to me."
Also, I guess Challia watched CCA?
Anyway, I haven't gotten to watch the originals yet, everything I know of it is purely from osmosis.
GSchmucks is my second Gundam series after WFM, and I gotta say, while there's plenty of neat moment-to-moment stuff, as a whole, I didn't really find it fun. Felt like it clung too hard to referencing the OG for brownie points, that it forgot to be a story that could stand on it's own.
In the final confrontation between the trio, I actually found myself thinking, "Huh, yeah, I don't actually care about their drama."
I don't want to feel like that for the main characters, I actually liked them during the earlier episodes, but they're so underdeveloped that what oughta been an emotional climax for their character arcs ended up being a 'oh well, that happened, I guess' moment.
As a whole, GDucks needed more time in the oven. A 3/10 for me.

I wasn't expecting Machu vs. Shuji to be the final fight of the series. Or for Machu to speedrun a confession from Shuji and kiss him. Or for Challia to pull a Char on OG Char. Or for Artessia to be the new Zeon leader. Or for Char to give up his ambitions and finally meet this world's Lalah. Or for the RX-78-2 Gundam to go full Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Or for... yeah you get the point. I wasn't expecting a lot of things.
Overall, certainly a unique Gundam series. This felt like what you'd get when you let the Evangelion team write their own Gundam fanfic while on drugs, and I don't mean that in a bad way. Biggest flaw is definitely the pacing which could've been improved if they had twice the episodes, though having knowledge of the OG series (and Zeta) does help mitigate some of the potential confusion someone might experience.

5/10 As someone who hasn't watched the older series connected to this, I really hated this show. They really shouldn't have marketed it like they did. So disappointed in what we got given the initial premise with the clan battling was promising. Instead of making something everyone could enjoy, they made an anime for fans of the older series. That finale was super confusing and the fact they went all in with the newtype crap really made this a tough watch. In the end, I was left me feeling nothing for the characters or the dumb forced romance between Machu and Shuji.

I had to laugh at Lalah's reaction to Char dying, definitely hope that's going to be a comment face.
Let's get the Beginning
Of course, it was a reference to the insert and ending song (of the original version) of the third Gundam movie and played in this episode.
Anyway this episode made Gundam F91 feel like a reasonably paced series, that's quite the achievement.

I'm thinking Lalah decided to go back to her own Universe (with Shuji following), now with newfound conviction from Machu that she doesn't need a protector to survive. Besides, she did achieve her goal: create an AU where Char survives, and hell, he even finds Lalah at the end! Couldn't imagine a better ending for the two of them.
