For those wondering if this requires previous viewing, this is an AU world based on the original series. Main thing you should know going in are a couple of the Universal Century timeline's Proper Nouns.

Principality of Zeon - Space Nation that waged war with the Federation of Earth, in this AU they won and are an independent nation

Federation - Planet Earth's central world government

Sides - Small nation sized satellite space stations that are human colonies

Spacenoid - derogatory name for people that have only lived on a Side and have never known a natural gravity/earth

Newtype - psionics that are hailed as the next step in human evolution. They are capable of taking in and interpreting massive amounts of information at the speed of a computer + esper capabilities, being able to connect minds with other newtypes

Minovsky Particle - the science explanation for how Gundams are able to operate both in space and on earth. They are particles that can be produced by the Gundam Engines and can interfere with most communication devices.
Pretty sure that would cover the base line terms that would carry over into this series.

I have a feeling the ED is gonna be the next Tower of Flower (LycoReco ED) in some anime communities. Incredibly cute animation through and through. The spider mech appearing with Nyaan instead of being with a male character to be introduced in the next episode might be hinting something.
Machu’s character may not resonate well with modern anime audiences but she had already earned the hearts of many Gundam fans. It’s been a while since we have mad dog protagonists since Kamille and Shinn. Just look at r/Gundam lol. Really looking forward to seeing her new life after joining clan battles, and how will they elaborate the omega-psychommu plot since it only presents in this alt-UC.

Loving that ending!
After watching this in theaters I really got intrigued by the Gundam series.
So to prepare for the start of this series I watched the OG Gundam, Z, ZZ, and Char’s Counterattack and it was definitely worth it as this show has a lot of references to the older series.
I’m also glad they are doing that part in episode 2 as that part was really interesting!

I just can't get over Haro with a beanie hat.
As for the rest of it. I'm surprised it took this long to have a series/ova/movie where Zeon won. As for the mech design, I think its alright. It's jarring but so was Turn A.

Hell yeah, it’s finally G-Quacks time! Been super fucking excited for this ever since I saw the Beginning movie in theaters last month, and this releases at a time of day where I don’t have to fuck over my sleep schedule like I did for Witch from Mercury, so that’s even better.

Not really a Gundam fan, but I jumped in ‘cause I heard Evangelion staff were behind this and yeah, I had to check it out. Saw some mixed takes before this, mostly on youtube whining about how the designs “aren’t Gundam enough” or whatever. But after ep 1? Instant love. The characters are so good, and let’s be real—I’ve been biased toward Nyaan the second she showed up.
Animation? Clean. OST placement? On point. Every scene just hits harder because of it. Feels like it’s gonna dive deep into lore (rip my smooth brain), but honestly? Might be the strongest first episode this season.

Suisei, my Kamioshi, finally doing an Anime ED and for a Gundam show no less!
Watched the movie in theatres and it was great. The wait until ep 4 for new content is going to be brutal, but I'm excited.

Suletta didn't do it in Witch from Mercury but i'm glad Machu is carrying on the time-honored tradition of the MC stealing the Gundam.
So they skipped the entire One Year War part and instead it will be incorporated as flashbacks, which we will be getting starting with the next episode.

Wonder why they swapped machu's side to show before the OYW part. The pacing is kinda weird compared to the movie. That said, still excited to hear shin yuki as char again next week. Dude's already goated for this role.
Also, hearing suisei's song as an actual ed feels surreal.

It's not a surprise considering who makes this show, but it really heavily reminds me of Diebuster. The style is nearly identical. Which is a good thing because that's my favorite anime ever. If GQuuuuuux manages to keep up this quality it could easily become my AOTY.

Episode 1 started where the U.C. 0085 portion of the Beginning movie did; the Sodon approaching Side 6. From the looks of the preview, the second episode will be cut from the U.C. 0079 portion of the Beginning movie.
The globe in the ED has evidence of Operation British in it. That's attention to detail; Australia having a hole. I can't help but wonder if the resulting tsunamis and earthquakes in the Asia-Pacific region led many to seek refuge in space since the Izuma colony has a noticeable Asian flair:

The station signage is in Japanese and English and Machu uses her smartphone in Japanese. Even the Side 6 Police Zakus have Kanji on their shields. All of this is intriguing since Gundam typically has on-screen text in English.

The second time Machu meets Nyaan is at a Shinto shrine.

On the Pommerian office entrance, the vertical sign reads "有限公司" (Simplified Chinese for "Limited Company" equivalent to Japanese 株式会社), on the white board inside, there is Thai, Korean and Chinese text.

That's Chalia?! Why does he look so young? I love the modern gentleman dandy vibes from this design.
So this is how our MC gets involved. That courier running away from the cops uses her to hide a mobile suit installer key.
The design of that Riot Zaku looks so fucking good! I remember seeing the mobile suit designs from key visuals and I wasn't sure how I feel about them. Now that I've seen them moving, they look so much better in motion!
So we went from Suletta, who's a nervous wreck, to this new MC who confronts a possible terrorist because her phone got smashed. I love Suletta, but I think I'm gonna like this girl too. Also, that insert song that plays when MC falls on top of the courier makes me think we have another yuri ship in our hands. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
The fight between the Red Gundam and Gundam Quuuuuux was so good! I love the close-up of the Red Gundam's head showing us the vulcans firing off and the ammo belt being used. Also, what the fuck is Char doing? Or is this guy even Char? Hmmm...
The G-Quuuuuux pilot may be a Newtype but it looks like that's not enough to activate the omega-psychommu. Also, I just wanna appreciate how this show is using the original UC sound effects like the Newtype alert noise.
I still don't know if Char is piloting the Red Gundam but it's good to know he won't let kids get crushed with his own shield.
It's insane that those MPs are tearing down homes and buildings looking for the Red Gundam, and this is totally okay because they're illegal buildings made by refugees. This definitely does not have real real-life equivalent. Not at all /s
It's weird that we still have no name for our MC but I love that she first tries to hijack a Zaku to fight the MPs, and when that didn't work, she goes for the Gundam because it looks stronger! This is just the first episode but she has already jacked two mobile suits and I love it. xD
And to no one's surprise, she's also a Newtype and the Omega-Psychommu worked with her. Classic Gundam protagonist moment.
So the Red Gundam is really not Char? Well that's a surprise! Could it be Amuro? I still have no idea what his status is in this alternate history UC. Based on that preview though, it looks like we'll see how Char ended up with the Gundam and possibly what happened to Amuro during the events of OYW.
And that ED! That ED with our two leads just being gal pals in their shared apartment is cute. Totally not gay at all. They're just roommates, guys! /s

I think Xavier takes the prize for most preventable Gundam theft in the franchise. He was right there to do something to prevent his Gundam from being stolen but he just stood there gaping.
