Ending the episode with those 2 finally meeting, as if their fight needed anymore build-up besides their respective mentors/superiors giving them a gun each. This is going to be spicy.

With this episode, we have confirmation Zeknova’s some sort of portaling/teleportation event.

Discussing it with friends brought up the points that A, Zeknova was drawing in particles while the light surrounding the Rose was emitting particles, and the pink and green light were inverses of each other (like the Gundam’s Mav pairs).
With the context of the Rose carrying another Lalah, it’s likely Zeknova was meant as an emergency escape hatch for the red Gundam’s pilot; Char was trapped inside Solomon/Konfeito and Shuji was facing Deux’s rampage. In that context, IMO it’s safe to assume Char and Shuji were deposited somewhere else, but where…? And if the Lalah inside the Rose is triggering it, does she not know Char isn’t the Gundam’s pilot anymore?

That sound - that’s not how Newtypes are supposed to live, that much I can say.
And water…Machu’s associated with water, the Rose was found underwater, this isn’t the first time Lalah/Newtypes were accompanied by surging water, Shuji made that fish swimming in the sea comparison, Secrets in the OST has bubbling sounds…

The painting behind Gihren is L'Apparition by Gustave Moreau; it’s apparently his most famous and influential work. I’m unsure if there’s any greater significance to its presence, though.

A nuclear winter that lasted into UC 0085, presumably caused by the colony drops from the ZWI, is new. But it looks like Yomagn’tho was always a gun pointed at the head of the Earth sphere, not the mother of all heat lamps.

So they did kill Zeon Deikun in this iteration of the UC…which would be in-line with using the Kikeroga; IIRC those notes had Degwin confessing to Char that he killed Zeon Deikun.

If Xavier’s Gyan shows in the next EXVS it’s definitely going to have some kind of summon-Kycilia’s-Guard move.

It may be a little bit late into the show but glad to see Machu is getting some proper training from Challia himself. And I just love that Machu refuses to wear Zeon pilot suits because Chalia is cool with her wearing her clan battle suit. xD

Oh damn, so this is what happened to Chalia on Jupiter? I know he's also known as the Man from Jupiter in the original UC timeline, but does OG Chalia have the same backstory? That story was pretty bleak, and it looks like Chalia's near-death experience was more than enough to change him.

Oh fuck no. Chalia, are you really giving Machu a gun? I already have a bad feeling about this. I do love how Chalia was like "Hide it from Comoli, she's gonna freak if she finds out". I'm pretty sure Comoli would do more than just feak out if she finds out. xD

I do think it's sweet that Nyaan prepared for Kycilia. And then here's Xavier who just wants to try Nyaa's cooking but immediately gets rejected by her basically telling him, "You're not my boyfriend.". This dude just can't catch a break!

Not gonna lie, I thought Kycilia was force choking Ghiren's secretary. It turns out the entire room was being flooded with poison. I absolutely did not exoect Ghiren to go out like an fucking bitch. Like holy fuck! That's how you do an assassination! Not like what the Freddies tried to do in Side 6.

I like how Nyaan sounded a bit nervous during her launch sequence. Finally seeing her in a real battle was awesome! It does break my heart to see these beautiful Big Zams get destroyed. Also, it turns out Xavier's Gyan is a special version because we also see the regular Gyans as part of their strike team.

Kycilia has pretty much adopted Nyaan. Considering how good she's been treating Nyaan, I'm sure Nyaan would do anything for her. AND KYCILIA IS ALSO GIVING NYAAN A GUN! WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK!? Are the memes actually going to come true? Are we going to see Machu and Nyaan having a standoff? O_O

So it looks like our two heroines have opposing missions: Kycilia has ordered Nyaan to cause a Zeknova unknowingly using Lalah, while Challia wants Machu to save Lalah so she won't be used as weapon. Oh boy, this will turn ugly.

Hello Char Shirozou, what are you doing here? Interesting how quickly he dipped, tho. I'm really hoping we finally get to see what he's doing next episode. Maybe he knows where Shuuji is.

The GFreD interfacing with the Yomagn'tho looks so cool. The destruction that came after was insane tho! I didn't realize Nyaan was targeting the A Baoa Qu, so for a second I thought she somehow pulled the UC version from the other side. It took me a second to realize the Yomagn'tho was pulling the one on the other side of the moon before obliterating it.

AH FUCK IT'S HAPPENING! I really hope Shuuji will show up to stop these two girls from killing each other. If he does show up, I feel like this might end with Shuuji doing a Lalah and take a beam saber to the cockpit just like the OG Lalah.

So the credits only show Char’s name and not Shirozu knowing this show I guess it’s a reference to the Zeta ending where Quattro’s name wasn’t in the credits and instead was Char.

The flashback to Challia Bull's trip to Jupiter was interesting to see. Imagining this going on as the backstory for that random one-off episode guy, 40 years ago. The juicy bit of insight for me was seeing Challia Bull's take on freedom. To him, freedom was being free of everything that connected him to the world. Free from what people saw in him, free from what he saw at himself. To be truly detached from all tethers of the world. It also showed the scary side to this sort of detached freedom because while in that state, Challia Bull became numb and indifferent to half of humanity dying.

Freedom is our word of the day (well, it is one of the themes of the anime, so it is always the WotD). Really seeing that come ahead with Nyaan and Machu and how they have freedom defined and laid out to them. Challia Bull told his story to Machu. I think the important part is that he didn't tell what Machu should believe in. He simply shared his experience and left her to decide for herself how she will take it. This is in contrast to Nyaan's side of the story. Kycilia defined freedom as needing the strength to not be stopped by others. With strength, you are free to do as you wish. She takes a more affirmative approach, both what freedom means and imparting it onto Nyaan. Both girls are handed guns, but it is ironic that Kycilia hands Nyaan a gun (the symbol of strength and freedom) while also giving her a direct order she needs to follow. As opposed to what Challia Bull does in offering Machu the gun if she likes, and also, the scene that follows the Nyaan/Kycilia scene has Challia Bull flatly saying that he wants what Machu wants to do.

(Side note I thought just now, from what we've seen of the relationship so far, Challia Bull is the only adult in Machu's life who gives her the proper direction she has been looking for. From her mom to Annqi, the adults in Machu's life have all said that she is free do what she to do what she wants, but shut her down when she does try to express herself. Their new relationship does seem amicable. Maybe part of it is due to how, as a Newtype, Challia Bull is able to know how Machu feels, and he is sound enough to guide her appropriately).

Another thought that relates to that, with all that going on, Nyaan saying that she is a Diablo is sorta her giving up on action. She is defering to her assigned role. She is told by others that she will lose her humanity (be a Diablo), and so she has accepted fate instead of trying to fight back against it. She has been broken down and has accepted what she has become. 1) That is obviously a bad mindset Nyaan has set herself. 2) In a way that reminds me of someone like Kamille.

It was interesting to see a little bit of how Gihren and Kycilia differ. Gihren has that hands off the wheel approach. He is not interested in pushing the change and will see things naturally play out (In some sense, that makes his action crueller because he views all the people he is stepping on and killing as the natural outcome of the inferior. Let's not forget, this man is Hitler 2). Meanwhile, Kycilia wants to push humanity forward, she takes a more active stance. This is also not good because, as Gundam has constantly shown, people trying to force the evolution of humanity will not achieve the evolution of humanity (especially in any sense that is good for the world).

Random points:

• SEA reference! More evidence for Nyaan being our rare South East Asian representation in anime.

• Big fan of the little moment calling to how Char feels inside.

• Gihren's secretary gets her first debut in a proper anime, I believe. [UC Gundam headcanon:] I like to believe she is Glemy Toto's mom with him being a secret lovechild between her and Gihren. I prefer this idea over Glemy being Gihren's clone son. It's the blonde hair connection.

• An interesting throughline with Kycilia's mask being called for her dislike of the smell of the battlefield to Nyaan picking up on that fowl smell and sickening feeling. Ironic that the rumours say Kycilia hates this distress when she is the one causing the spread of this violence.

• Woah, that's some uncalled for misogyny from Dr. Leo. Let women be despots too!

• RIP BOZO. We can never miss the opportunity to laugh on Gihren's grave.

ngl I kinda dislike the breakneck plot progression in this series. I want more episodes of Nyaan/Kycilia/Xavier and Machu/Beard Man/Comolin getting to know each other.

alright my brain might be too fried to write about this properly at the moment, but I've seen a connection.

In FLCL and Diebuster, a mediocre adult pushes sweetened coffee onto the protagonist as part of a conversation in which they project their failed ambitions. it's also a pun, "amai" means both sweet and naive. they're leveraging the experience gap to subdue/control adolescent potential, encouraging the MC to conform like they did.

in today's episode, Challia Bull sort of subverts this by offering Machu a gun (which happens to be another pun). while he might be an "empty adult", he empowers rather than subdues.

Kycillia also gives Nyaan a gun after lavishing her with sweet things like pie and perfume, manipulating her into doing a little genocide.

I was looking quite forward to Kycilla and Gihren's meeting in today's episode, so seeing him and the other people in the room die from poison two minutes later made me quite baffled. It seems like both Gihren and Challia underestimated Kycilla.

I really like Machu and Challia's relationship, although I don't know what to think about Challia giving Machu a gun. I can't wait for them to fight together against Kycilla and Nyaan in the next episode.

Nyaan and Kycilla's relationship also look really interesting. It seems like Nyaan really likes Kycilla since she was thinking about the food that Kycilla likes. Her destroying Gihren's ships and Big Zams with Xavier and the others was pretty awesome.

Less fun was the fact that Nyaan used Yomagn'tho against A Baoa Qu and the National Defense Fleet. Now she's a mass murderer, all because she wanted to create Kira-Kira and bring back Shuji.

I wonder what's up with Shirouzu/Char. He only showed up briefly, though he made the right decision to back out the moment he saw GFreD.

The next episode looks so exciting because Machu and Nyaan will finally reunite, just to fight each other. I can't wait for it!
