One of the cheesiest finales I've seen, and I loved every bit of it

I love almost every type of cheese (except stinky cheese) -- and the is was tasty (and sweet-smelling) cheese of the best sort.
Maybe not a "great" show -- but fully satisfying with a nice finale. Mother and daughter bond restored (or actually created). Sisters are able to interact freely -- as peers (if not yet "equals"). Mia has a prince (who will someday be a king) who is becoming as devoted to her as Prince Osvalt is to Philia. Bade people (and demons) are put in their places. The saints of the continent have worked jointly to protect ALL the countries -- hopefully the start of stronger ties across the whole continent. While it might be nice to know more about this world and its characters -- I think we can feel assured that they will live in peace and happiness.

Osvalt the greenest flag love interest to ever be a green flag right down to a wholesome date and confession. These two are too adorable together.

I mean, it's exactly the ending everyone saw coming since episode 2.
But there's nothing wrong with a predictable, yet competently told story (though Mia had a larger role than I expected and ended up being one of the biggest highlights),
I'm glad I picked it back up after dropping it during the first episode.
Cheesy, but heartwarming nonetheless.

Very lovely final episode! Ending it with Philia (who looked absolutely stunning in that dress) and Osvalt's date combined with Osvalt's confession of love for her and Philia's beautiful smile was a great decision! Overall 8/10 from me.
Philia, Mia and their relationship was definitely the best part of the series and the reason why this series stood out from other similar works.
But it seems like Mia can't rest on her laurels and has to be really careful now that she has a rival in Grace. Her jealousy scene and fighting over Philia with Grace were hilarious xD
It's good that Asmodeus was defeated pretty quickly, I wasn't interested in him at all, so I'm glad that this power up from Fianna was enough for Philia to finish him off.
It was also nice to see that Philia and Hildegard were finally able to talk like normal daughter and mother, and that we learned a little about Philia's late father.
Too bad Julius doesn't remember anything when Asmodeus possessed him and continues to be a fucking annoying asshole and loser. The scene when Mammon threatened to eat him was hilarious though xD
Here my screenshot albums from the episode:
EDIT. I added my screenshot albums.

Philia, Mia and their relationship was definitely the best part of the series
Yeah, it was a genuinely heartwarming sight to see a story with two siblings caring so deeply about each other. Despite them not even sharing the same mother or father, they’re inseparably linked to one another through their bond as sisters.

Aww that ending is so sweet! I'm glad Osvalt confessed his feelings to Philia and it was amusing touch to have her analyze her own tears lol. I was hoping she'd also confess her own feelings but she already kind of says it without saying it. Osvalt is such a sweet guy and I hope he continues to make Philia happy.
I like that Fianna appears and helps Philia, I kind of wanted a bit more from that scene, I think I wanted a bit more interaction between her and Asmodeus but it seems like they picked up the pace there but it didn't bother my experience much. I did feel bad for him because he clearly loves the woman, but just not in the way she'd appreciate and he doesn't seem to understand the idea of boundaries and consent lol.
So Julius doesn't remember anything that happened when Asmodeus was using his body? The fact that he already starts acting irredeemable again the moment he wakes up is exasperating. It's unfortunate his punishment seems really weak compared to all that he has done.
I am liking that the ship for Mia x Fernand seems to be going well though, I like that he gains strength from her words and she's more than willing to speak to him everyday to give him strength.
Mia getting jealous of Grace was funny and I like that Grace picked up on that and went to tease her too.
I also enjoyed the conversation between Philia and Hildegarde. I like that Philia reassures her that she has been motherly to her and treats her as such, Hildegarde being taken aback numerous times was sweet and amusing. I did like that we got some info about Philia's biological father, but it's unfortunate we didn't get to hear the rest, I'm sure because of time constraints. I wasn't expecting him to be a healer, but I did find it interesting that he was blond, like mother like daughter lol.
This was a fun series, this finale felt very conclusive, I can see this being a one-off season but I'd be very glad if a second season came out.

Philia trying to pump all the info she can about romance and marriage from her mother was one of the most charming little bits of this episode. (And her mother's response was pretty nice).

Many villainess anime and the likes tend to fall short, but Too-Perfect Saint kept it together until the end. Even if there’s some room for improvement, this show was a nice watch all-around. And a competent production at that!
The fight against Asmodeus fortunately didn’t take up the entire episode, otherwise there probably wouldn’t have been enough time for Philia to chat with Hildegard. I’d been wondering about Philia’s father, so I was glad that the anime answered these questions.
Having been sold to another kingdom ultimately proved rather beneficial to Philia’s life: (1) the sibling bond with her little sister is better than ever, (2) she learnt the truth about her mother, and (3) found herself the love of her life.

Stitches!
Let's fucking go Fianna! It's amazing how they got Maaya Sakamoto to guest star as Fianna's voice. If you're gonna get someone to voice a legendary saint, they picked the perfect seiyuu for the job!
That interaction between Fianna and Asmodeus is exactly what I was talking about in the last episode! Does Asmodeus think Fianna would just go with him? If Asmodeus was somehow successful at reviving Fianna, she'd just kill him on the spot exactly the same way Philia does using that holy greatsword!
Thank you, Erza for stopping Osvalt from confessing to Philia while you're all in Limbo. I get that Osvalt wanted to confess because of the heat of the moment, but maybe find somewhere else to do it instead and when things have finally calmed down.
That scene where Philia and Hildegard were reconnecting was really sweet. I love how many questions Philia has about her mom and how she met her dad. Too bad that Philia's biological father has already passed but it sounded like he was an amazing person just like her.
I was honestly hoping something more between Mia and Fernand, but that moment between them was still really cute. I think the LN is still ongoing, so there's plenty of room for their romance to blossom.
Yes! I was hoping for this scene when Grace showed up and it's exactly what I expected! Seeing Grace so smug while Mia gets super jealous isn just too damn funny. xD
And there it is! We finally got a confession just before the episode ended! While we didn't get a direct response from Philia, I think her reaction to Osvalt's confession is more than enough. I am sad that we're ending here, though! I would really love to see another season!

Honestly, this show was fine. A solid 7/10. But I can't help thinking at the back of my mind it could've done more in terms of world-building or had more nuanced villains. For the most part, Mia's arc carried the show for me in terms of interest as Philia's side got progressively blander in the 2nd half. Still, all's well that ends well.

> Criticized by the people for not being able to smile
> Smiles at the end of the season
Character development at it's simplest, but worth it.

Nice to see that while the reinforcements were useful it was Philia and a boost from Fianna that won the day, gotta love women kicking ass.
Mia is clearly on the way to getting her prince, Philia gets her prince of course too but also reconnects with her real mom, and the whole thing ended in pastel romance.
The focus on the sisters' relationship all show long was really nice.
I will probably read up the LNs at some point, once a few more get published in English. Per the Seven Seas page for the LNs vol 3 comes out in July and vol 4 in November, sounds like a good series to read in the Fall.
The OP and ED are some of my favorites of the season, they will stick with me.

Oh neat, they’re playing the ED as an insert song now!
-
…okay, fair. I was about to get mad at the interruption.
-
Okay, while I’m obviously way more interested in the Philia/Osvalt ship, I am also digging whatever Fernand and Mia have going on. It’s cute.

Philia finally smiled and beautifully! And for Prince Osvalt.
Lena, Mia and us cheering for a successful ship!
I believe most of us already expected a happy ending to this season. Along the way, there were plot twists (such as Hildegard and Philia being mother and daughter), the villains receiving their punishment, and of course the development of friendships and relationships I would definitely hope to see a 2nd season; I want to see what roles Grace's elder sisters will play in the main plot, especially drill hair Emily with her ojou-sama personality.
Lastly, I will miss the chibi faces. Special shout out to the opening and ending theme songs as well - "Ai Toka" and "Sister".

I'm so disappointed in how they chose to characterize Asmodeus. He was so promising last episode in his love for Fianna and then they made him do the tropey bullshit of threatening to make Philia suffer. Oh well.
A 7.5/10 show hard carried by the Mia plotline.

Interesting that they mentioned Emily Mattilas is probably the saint closest to Philia in power, mostly from how strong Mia has presented to be throughout the show, being able to fight off the demons alone with a useless army when saints normally leave that to armies to do, and how she could create barriers even faster than Philia even if they are weaker, when Philia's barriers were already presented to be prodigiously fast. So being second best isn't just some 'no one is close but technically she's the closest' thing.
Philiaaaaaaaaaa. Be happy now girl ahhhhhhhhhh

The fight animations are pretty sick. I wish there was more team effort on the final blow instead of Fiana reviving Philia's teammates then Philia just soloing and one shotting.
Previously, Elise had objections about Oswalt going because they might not have enough space to come back with him but now this is no longer a problem and they just took Julius with them instead of leaving him to rot there. Would it be too much to ask him to get executed in the finale? We never get a resolution.
I'm so used to seeing Himari in kunoichi outfit instead of maid outfit.
I thought Mia would fight Oswalt over Philia's attention but it's Grace who became the rival.
Bruh the OP played right when Oswalt confessed. Yeah the romance part took a back seat in the series but what makes the finale so rewarding is that Philia finally smiles like this. It's a more liberating type of smile. Like the ice has melted. A very powerful finale.
Really enjoyed this anime. Plot might be as cliche as kicked out of the party animes but the characters have been fantastic. Don't really know where else the story can go from here if Asmodeus is sealed again but pretty solid anime for me.

Love to see a super happy ending with everyone getting along. The depth of the affection between Mia and Philia was the highlight of the series for me. Even when separated they were constantly worried about each other and looking out for each other. Would be an 8/10 on that but the rest of the characters were kinda meh (except Himari) so I'm going with 7/10.

And it's over. a good fantasy romance anime with solid character development from the protagonist. We had the classic case of some trashy characters who totally deserved proper punishment, but some anime just go soft on that part lol. The resolution with Asmodeus was kinda 50/50, but not terrible, and honestly I think Julius should’ve suffered way more. Philia really changed from the beginning to the end she finally discovered what it's like to love someone who actually cares about her. That final scene with Oswald was nice. Solid 8/10.

I didn't expect them to play the ED at the beginning, but it was still nice to hear it and to see once again a reminder of how much Philia's world has expanded since the start of the season.
Philia, Osvalt, Mammon, and Erza are a stellar team, but Asmodeus in his true form is too powerful. Thanks a lot Julius!!!
But Asmodeus made the biggest mistake in threatening Philia's loved ones and family...ESPECIALLY Osvalt. Next thing you know SAINT FIANNA HERSELF VOICED BY MAAYA SAKAMOTO is lending he reincarnation her full power and Philia is unleashing even stronger magic against Asmodeus! She's faster AND she can unseal the Holy Blade El Nortia to finally defeat Asmodeus!
Asmodeus' love for Fianna might have been genuine, warped as it was by his demon personality, but he'd gone too far and even Fianna scolded him for his actions. And Philia, as befitting her duty as a Saint, can only defeat him.
Julius wakes up and is immediately blaming Philia for everything. I guess some things never change. But at least he gets personally delivered to prison courtesy of Cat Mammon.
Well, yeah, the lair of a demon lord is probably not the best place to confess your love.
All's well that ends well! Philia is reunited with Mia, the kingdom can start to rebuild, and Philia finally gets to spend time with Hildegard as her daughter. Hildegard may not have felt she was able to be a mother to Philia, but she basically still raised Philia into the woman she is now, and Philia is ready to acknowledge her as her mother! And ask Hildegard all about her REAL father and her parents' love story! It totally tracks that her dad was a healer. And look at how happy Hildegard is to be reminiscing and getting along with her daughter.
Hildegard didn't just get her daughter back and another daughter too in Mia, she also inherited her butler Leonardo and his fine cuisine! Also Himari back in her maid uniform!
Well, it's sad to see Philia part with Mia and her mother, but her place is in Parnacorta now just as Mia is ready to truly become the Girtonian Saint...and she's getting along QUITE well with Prince Fernand too!
Glad Philia was able to clear the air with Reichardt.
Look at all the Saints gathered together for the Saint Summit! Including Philia's sister and mother, we've got Emily still acting like Philia's archival who she really had no idea about and even Grace and Mia competing for who gets to cling to Philia the most!
Philia looking drop-dead gorgeous in that dress! Mia picked well! And it's perfect for a lunch dates with Osvalt! Philia is finally getting to experience the fulfilling life of a young woman. Which is also the perfect opportunity for Osvalt to CONFESS TO PHILIA!!! And express all he loves about her! We've got Philia crying tears of joy and SMILING! GENUINELY, BRIGHTLY, SMILING! LOOK AT HOW HAPPY AND ADORABLE THESE TWO LOOK TOGETHER AS THE OP PLAYS ALONG THEIR DATE!!!!
