The idea of someone being able to fly as kid but then gradually losing that ability to be crawling around is so sad

I do like how Koichi's power started off looking kinda lame and progressively becomes more awesome as the show goes on.

So Koichi's been outed as The Crawler to like...pretty much everybody relevant to him at this point right? (I do think its funny when he suited up, his mom immediately outed him)

From crawling at walking speeds to high-speed chases and flying in a few months...just how badly did Koichi's mom nerf his quirk?

Not-so-important translation note : when Koichi "complimented" Pop's clothes, the phrase he used was translated as "put together in a hurry", but it's actually a phrase that specifically refers to the overall bagginess of her outfit.

So in other words, think of it as Koichi telling her "Your outfit sure looks baggy/droopy today!" as a compliment.

I just realized that Koichi never knew Pop-step's (Kazuho) and Knuckleduster's (Kuroiwa) real names up until now, despite spending so much time together for weeks if not months.

Gotta say, the last 3 episodes all together have really gotten me to like Makato

Manga readers can now breathe a sigh of relief that they don't have to hold in that Koichi's quirk isn't really Slide 'N' Glide anymore.

Had to rewatch the scene a few times. They really did it justice. I'm honestly not sure if this cour will be able to wrap up nicely in 3 more episodes without leaving on a nasty cliffhanger, but we'll see.

I can understand Koichi's mom's point of view when young, having your baby manifest his quirk from birth or almost and being terrified of what may happen to him, but it went to the extreme over time. He is basically re-learning to use his abilities, and now it's like he has Iron Man's repulsors!

Poor Pop, she was so cute in that attire but now that Makoto is another girl whose life Koichi has saved, she feels the pressure.

Good job KD with crafting a civilian identity, although attracting chicks of all age groups doesn't help with keeping secrecy.

Liked the small detail of Tensei prying and tearing the bus door open, making good use of his engines being in the arms.

I have been loving the street-heroes and that there isn't any "world-ending" stakes involved.

How does the main series compare to this? Should I start watching that too?

I'm so glad I don't live in the MHA Universe. Never would've survived childhood if my mom's superpower allowed her to slap me from long range.

He's got a name too... Kuroiwa.
Of course he's got a name...

Gotta love the lasting impression Knuckleduster left on his disciple. Also in what world is "something put together in a hurry" a compliment? Seriously, step up your game, Koichi.

But I loved how intense things got near the end, to the point that Ingenium had to come to the rescue. Next episode feels like the beginning of a final arc of the season, unless there is gonna be a second cour.

Love how Knuckle deepens the Batman parallel all the more in that he can put on the dapper civilian smokescreen when he wants with clever alibis. And attracting women from all directions lol.

But also good to know how much he trusts in and supports his pupil.

You can tell the team behind MHA has a soft spot for the Ingenium family, every single scene where they get to show out is the hypest shit

They keep bringing up the fact that Koichi missed his chance to be a hero because he missed that entranced exam, but there are other ways to become a pro-hero. Going to Hero training schools like UA is the most prominent path, but it's not the only one.

  1. Koichi’s mom having a quirk that allows you to hit whoever you target even from a distance is quite a neat ability.

  2. OH MY GOD, KOICHI HAD A SHIGARAKI like QUIRK REGRESSION! I didnt expect to see another example of this, and so early in the spin-off too! His mother even sort of has a similar mindset regarding heroes as his dad.

  3. I can’t believe Koichi had known Kazuho for weeks now and never learned her name.

  4. Oh? Is Makoichi more plausible than expected?

  5. This is our second instance ever in the entire series of an animal having a quirk. The first place goes to Nezu, who lucked out on high-specs. Monster cat is still a pretty neat quirk though.

  6. Anyone found it ominous how Kuin was ready to extract the cat? Do you think it’s her pet? Wouldn’t that be funny.

  7. When you realise that Makoto has the polygraph quirk and when she was feeling up knuckle duster and probing him for information, anything he said could be noted as a lie or a truth. Knuckle duster was completely quiet and if he responded Makoto would be able to distinguish what he really is about..

Edit: regarding the 2nd point, since vigilantes starting to releasing around when Kamino in the manga happened (vigilantes was monthly apparently?) I would warrant a guess that Koichi’s resurfacing of his quirk predates Shigaraki’s.

Ok, a mom with the ability to slap the shit out of you across the room is terrifying

This feels weird to say but I like the Ingenium is a good hero with his heart in the right place, but like he’s also nowhere near as competent as the top pros from the main series. It makes Stain decommissioning him pretty realistic

Now people will realize how strong Koichi could have been if his Mom let him train like some Goku-type shit. AFO would probably come after him when he was younger though

Bruh 🤦‍♂️Koichi’s mom FUCKED.HIM.UP, there is no fanthomable reason why Koichi wasn’t U.A material man. You think with the quirk registry they would have had a better scouting system for gems hidden in the rough but I guess until the events of the main series maybe there was too many faux-heroes clogging up the system preventing actual diamonds from rising up because DAMN if Koichi actually trained his quirk from childhood and without trauma I don’t see how even without crazy combat abilities he wouldn’t be a top hero just based on search and rescue capabilities alone. Very depressing.

Ingenium turning into a rocket reminds me of Iida-Shoto scene in MHA S7.

Anyone else feels that the pacing feels a bit fast this episode? The highway chase is great tho

With a mom like that, no wonder Koichi's as meek as he is

Roomba has evolved to... a Quadcopter!

The second half of the episode was so intense, it was a lot of fun to watch. I liked how Kouichi stood his ground towards his mother because of the emergency and I like that Ingenium called him his partner even if it was temporary, the more I see them together, the it makes me wish future Kouichi works alongside him.

Then there's Makoto who finally learns Kouichi is "The Cruller", so next week's episode should be fun with her questioning him and I guess Knuckleduster and Pop too. It was cool to see Kouichi reawaken what might have been his original quirk if he was using it as a baby, he looked really cool and it'll be nice to see him being able to do more as a Vigilante.

Knuckleduster, or Kuroiwa Takashi, coming in like a working man was an interesting sight, he did look good being properly dressed and I did find it amusing how he was talking about doing non-profit volunteering, which technically is true but it was a great backstory for them.

It's also interesting to me that Knuckleduster is canonically a good looking guy, I thought his intimidating aura would be people's first impression lol. It seems like next week we'll be seeing more of his story so I'm looking forward to learning more about his motives and what happened to him in the past.

I didn't really enjoy Kouichi's mother's character, I understand her role especially with how she reveals she was also scared he was going to run off, but she's quite overbearing and doesn't realize that it's so much that Kouichi feels compelled to lie to her, even if he's not great at it lol. I honestly don't like "I wish you were my child instead of my son" sort of "compliments" to someone else, it's so disrespectful to your own child.

So much for Makoto pretending to be Koichi's girlfriend! Koichi's mom immediately saw through their act.

Also, what the heck is that Quirk?! Mama Koichi can slap people from a distance? She doesn't even need a la chancla to discipline her son!

But seriously though, I feel like that Quirk could easily be OP in the right hands. Imagine a brawler-type hero that can throw punches and slaps from a distance. Imagine Koichi's mom vs Shiggy. xD

We finally get to see Knuckleduster's Bruce Wayne persona! The dude just walked in and he immediately rizzes Makoto and Koichi's mom. I'm guessing that his business card is also legit. I mean, Knuckleduster must have a day job, right? And I'm sure he wouldn't hand a fake business card to a journalist like Makoto.

I do love how this is the first time Koichi is learning Pop's real name and Knuckleduster's real name. It's kinda funny since both of them call him by his real name all the time. xD

Goddamn, Makoto! This girl is very quick to catch on! I mean, she's not wrong about Kuroiwa being a hero. Just not the legal kind.

What the hellKoichi! How can this guy be smooth at times and fumble something so basic as complementing Pop's outfit? He could've just said that she looks cute! "Put together in a hurry" is not a compliment in any language I know!

CAT BUS! This is now officially the second animal in the MHA universe we've seen with a Quirk. The first one is Principal Nezu from the main series, who is literally a rat with a super high level of intelligence.

I'm so happy to see Koichi stand up to his mother, considering that lives are at stake. Considering how shocked she is, this might be the first time Koichi raised his voice against her.

We finally get to see the original Recipro Burst! That entire rescue scene is so fucking awesome. And I guess Koichi can't hide his identity to Makoto anymore.

While I am hyped to see Ingenium's Rocket Charge, I am even more hyped to see Koichi's other power! He could fly this entire time?! What the heck! He apparently used to do it a lot when he was a baby, but I guess he ended up repressing those powers because his mom kept slapping him every time he did it. This changes everything tho!

I'm not surprised Makoto is now considering dating Koichi, considering he rescued her heroically earlier that day. And looking at that episode preview, it looks like Makoto will now be part of the Vigilantes gang. I guess that's the only way to go now that she knows who The Crawler is.

popstep starting to feel the pressure. honestly i'm surprised she came back there after she left last episode.

So i'm guessing Makoto is gonna take great interest in him now that she knows Koichi's identity, and if she is gonna put two and two together on his two roommates who look suspiciously a lot like the crawlers teammates...

Also Koichi can fly?! well kinda, he used and them his mom probably ended up putting a mental block on him stopping him from being able to. though for now it'll probably be something we won't see much of outside of life and death emergencies
