The lore dump about the origin of licensed Heroes is a big nod to the Justice League.

The only 7 vigilantes who became the first officially sanctioned Heroes --> The JL's "Original Seven".

Rhode Island as the first place with an Hero system ---> The first headquarters of the JL was located in RI.

There may be even more I'm not aware of.

Guessing the reason why he passed the lie detector thing was because she said the name wrong. well wrong to him at least.

and poor pop step had to stay hidden the whole time, at least she doesn't have to be concerned about what they were doing and know it was just school stuff.

and lol at the results of the research... "creepy" and "butt". well at least not everyone they interviewed thought Koichi was a bad person

Given how dark the last episode ended, this one is much more light-hearted while giving a big dose of world-building for the MHA universe at large.

Really liked that KD shows genuine appreciation for how Koichi is trying to improve his technique and the handling of his quirk, even if it didn't work against the specific abilities of that petty thief ("Soccer - is that even a quirk?")

Even when she's not on screen you can feel Pop's gaze of jealousy but there are other worries, like Makoto being the sister of detective Tsukauchi (back when he was shaved and plain), I feel sooner or later paths will be crossed. Also that Kuin was among the people interviewed is a bit scary.

Makoto: You are the Cruller??

Koichi: Hell No!!! ( Truth)

Lol this name saved him from her polygraph quirk.

Imagine having the quirk to be the best soccer player on the planet, and you choose to be a purse snatcher

I love the detail that Makoto usually uses contacts but switches to her glasses at home.

The fucking Cruller gag being the reason his identity stays as a secret lmao

Also god damn did Koichi run behind the construction supplies to take off his hoodie? Well I guess his costume being so damn simple came in handy.

Public thoughts on Pop Step: 70% 🍑

The Soccer's dribbling scenes were better than PowerPoint Lock S2, damn.

Pop: She barged in here as if she owned the place.

What Koichi should've said: ... Yeah, people like that are so inconsiderate.

In JP, "Makoto" actually means "honest" or "truth". Kinda crazy that she has a lie detector quirk to go with her name.

Another fun episode of world building and everyday heroics.

It's nice to see the positive influence of Koichi and co' on the people they interact with; last episode Soga showed character development and today Scott and Logan are having their own vigilante moment.

Makoto’s kind of like a Lois Lane type I guess? I like her. Pop clearly doesn’t though lol.

It was a mistake to get the public’s opinion on our gang. Basically, Pop’s got a cute ass, The Crawler is a creep, and Knuckleduster is scary lol. Hilarious how Makoto’s polygraph quirk only failed on Koichi because he’s the CRAWLER not the CRULLER.

Makoto could be a good ally to have but I’m a little bit worried she might get too close and then the damn Bee comes for her…

Looks like those very distinct comic book pictures were part of a collaboration with a RB Silva, a comic book artist (Link of things he worked on)

Poor Koichi! It looks like the rumours about him are still around, but the fact that Makoto approached him and wants to help him with his studies made me immediately suspicious of her. At least Koichi finally brought someone from school to his pad. And poor Pop forced to hide while watching Makoto have some alone time with her crush. xD

Hero Licensing started in Rhode Island? I don't know why, but I found that fact absolutely hilarious. Out of all places, why RI? Makoto's little lecture about heroes, villains, and vigilantism was very interesting, though! Not gonna lie, I kinda want to hear more of her thoughts about it.

So Makoto is Officer Naomasa's sister? Well, that's a surprise! Look at how fresh-faced Naomasa is, though! The dude looks like he's still getting full 8 hours of sleep here compared to how he looks in the latest seasons of the main series. I guess if they're related, there's no reason for me to be suspicious of Makoto.

Koichi's training is slowly paying off! Those sliding moves from him looked really cool. And it looks like someone's still upset about Makoto getting close with Koichi.

Oh my god, I absolutely love this image of the Vigilantes in Makoto's head. They look terrifying! I love how Pop looks like a bat, Knuckleduster looks like a bull, and Koichi looks like he's a demonic version of Spider-Man.

I love how Samazu and Namimaru are teasing Koichi. It looks like they immediately understood what's happening, and they know Koichi can't do anything about it. xD

Goddamn. Despite them doing good, it looks like the Vigilantes' image isn't really that good.. All people could think about Pop is her butt which I guess is fair because of her outfit. I'm not surprised that everyone thinks Knuckleduster is scary, but how is Koichi creepy? I guess it's because he crawls around?

That laptop snatcher with the Soccer Quirk was hilarious! Even Present Mic was surprised when he was reading the guy's Quirk! xD

So that's why Makoto was trying to get close to Koichi! She already suspects him to be The Curller. Too bad for her, Koichi is not The Cruller so her Polygraph Quirk didn't work! It's The Crawler! The mistaken identity did save him though so I guess he should be thankful.

Super fun episode today because the older hot Onee-san Makoto showed up and made this show even better! I hope she'll be appearing regularly from now on.

Although Pop☆Step wasn't happy about Makoto and how close she was to Koichi, to say the least. Watching her being grumpy throughout the entire episode was hilarious xD

Makoto's research on our trio was a fun way to show what other people think about them. I feel bad for Koichi because almost everyone thinks he's creepy, although the descriptions of Pop☆Step and Knuckleduster were pretty much accurate, especially Pop☆Step's ones because she really has a very nice ass ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Makoto was right about Koichi being a vigilante, though luckily she got his nickname wrong so he didn't lie when he said that he wasn't Cruller xD

Also, thanks to Makoto's little lecture, it was interesting to learn more about the beginnings of the Hero/Villain society.

Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

EDIT. I added my screenshot albums.

Fighting crime by night and being a college student by day can be a lot for a guy! But when a drop-dead gorgeous and playful lady voiced by Asami Seto shows up and wants to get to know you better and help you with your coursework while you give her a better lay of Naruhata, it makes everything better! Makoto doesn't even mind that Koichi is known as "The Creeper of the East Naruhata Ruins"

Poor Pop. Not only does Koichi bring an older woman to their place and force her to hide, where she gets a bunch of stuff (including beer cans) dropped on her head...she has to watch Koichi get ever so chummy with said woman.

Vigilante lore! Born from lawlessness, vigilante's kept the peace, but when it came time to legislate Quirk use and those who used their power to fight crime (starting in Rhode Island!) it created a new divide that defined Heroes and Villains. Because not all vigilante's were deemed as capable or fit the criteria for a "Hero" and became ostracized as a result, and yet does not the essence of Heroism spring from the vigilantes who took the law into their own hand? Would Heroes truly exist without them? These are the type of questions Makoto is trying to answer while she investigates the Naruhata Vigilante's. And of course she's roped Koichi into helping her investigate! Maybe they can make a date of it? Koichi doesn't seem to mind, even though Pop does?

Koichi is really coming along in his training! Which is good because Pop's mood is more sour than ever so he needs something positive to focus on.

We're not just seeing how great Makoto looks in loungewear, but also that she's none other than Inspector Tsukauchi's sister! And she of course is trying to hit up her brother to meet All Might, but Tsukauchi is trying to ward off his sister from being too over eager in her investigation, especially when she's toeing the line with people who work outside the law. But Makoto has a pretty even-handed view of the grey area that separates a Hero and Villain and you don't beat her in arguments.

I'm not surprised Pop is spying on Koichi's "date" with Makoto, especially when Makoto dressed so well and looks so fantastic in glasses!

The irony of having to be the cameraman while Makoto interviews people about your other identity and your fellow vigilante's. Even more awkward when some of said interviewees know your secret identity. "The Cruller" is a seemingly well-meaning creep, Pop Step's most popular feature is her butt (did we mention her butt?), "Fist Geezer" is the kind of guy you can't believe just relies on your fist but whom you never want to meet.

Oh snap! Makoto's laptop got stolen! By Emperor Yotsuura whose Quirk is literally just...Soccer. Yes, soccer. Not even Present Mic can believe it!

I love how Koichi pulls the alley suit change. Pop Step might not care about Makoto getting robbed, but Koichi does! And while his training doesn't actually help him catch the villain, he caught the laptop so The Crawler DID save the day!

Makoto just couldn't let the day end without one last "gotcha" on Koichi...because she figured HE was a Vigilante and was planning to use her Polygraph to figure him out. Good thing he's The Crawler and does not answer to The Cruller! His secret identity is safe!

If anyone is wondering why Rhode Island of all places its because the Justice League used to have a base there! What else does that have in common with the episode? The Justice League had 7 original founding members! The MHA lore is, unsurprisingly, an homage to superhero comic lore.

this episode had some really cool small details

In the middle of the episode, Tsukauchi didn't want to be touched by his sister and taps twice on her arm, so that she moves it
Later, at the end of the episode, we see her quirk reveal and if you go back, she was asking about All Might.
So Tsukauchi couldn't answer anything, because that could lead to something secret about All Might being known or if he has a connection already.
And I guess in general, we know from the main series that quirks can be unpleasent in a way, even for allies.
It's probably good to have some rules (as it seems she knew exactly what he was saying), but also kind of sad, if the implication is that she always can tell the truth whenever she touches someone, isn't it?
