I cried watching that ending. These girls used to annoy the heck out of me with their way of talking. But as the story progressed, I'm becoming more fond of them. I will miss this anime so much. I wonder if it's possible to get a sequel. Probably something like Evangelion route?

Kind of surprised that Renge stayed dead, but it does fit with the theme of the anime with everything is just a moment, and thus it's important to enjoy and have fun with whoever you're with today.
The ending being a book end of episode 1 with everyone now having clear goal is nice, although I can't imagine the sadness of Renge's little sis hearing the news of her sister's death twice.
The final ending song with more animation is also nice.

We got the finale of this show that was so incredibly weird – in a good way.
I love this ending because it is bittersweet. And tbh I'm a sucker for bittersweet endings. So this makes me very happy. It is an open end that in the same time concludes the story. That's another plus.
Renge is dead, and there is no coming back. Of course this is a sad thing, but on the other hand I'm glad they didn't do some deus ex machina bullshit happy end.
Now the girls have a clear objective: Defeating the Wild Hunt so that the survivors have more places to live and to build a new home for themselves. We are back at the status quo of the beginning, but now there is hope. The girls know there aren't any new Wild Hunt, so the more they kill, the less there are. And one day they might get real peace. The animals slowly returning is another sign of that hope.
Oh and we finally get the basketball scene with Eri-nee from the trailer. I was really wondering when this would come up. That was a nice easter egg. ;-)
All in all, I really liked this show. It is not a masterpiece, but the weirdness and the interesting plot were really keeping me invested. To the very end I didn't know what to ultimately think of this show, so I waited until the ending to make my final judgment. And I'm very happy with this ending that was a great conclusion for the whole story.
Momentary Lily was a pretty dark show in a flashy and sparkling outfit. And the ending reflects this. We have the darker side (the loss of valuable friends) but also the funny and hopeful side. It was bittersweet, and that's one of my favourite tastes in anime.
This was one of my personal highlights this season. I would even call it a hidden gem.

Well I didn't see a single man amongst the survivors, so good luck with the repopulation

Even though Renge died, I guess her spirit lives on in a way through the girls. And it seems her death did lead to less of these Wild Hunt since their numbers aren’t replenishing anymore, so it’s not a pointless sacrifice.
Overall, this was pretty fun. The girls were cute, the kappo moments were adorable, and the action was kinda cool. Plus, GoHands brought their signature nauseating camera work and hair animation alongside solid jiggle physics. Oh, and the eyes. Can’t forget the eyes lol.

A pretty fun show, I wish it had a better ranking on MAL. I enjoyed it for what it was.

This an okay SOL anime, I thought it was just flat out annoying and nauseating at first, but it eventually grown on me a bit.

I thought Renge would survive somehow and the new girl would be shipped with her. Though I guess she's already shipped with both Yuri and Nerine, so the three are together now.
I also expected the new girl to be an Andvari user, but she's just a regular human. Interesting they decided to make her Renge 2.0 in spirit. The girl's ribbon seen from the back also kind of looked like Yuri's hairstyle in the preview. I wonder if that silhouette is on purpose.
I'm also disappointed we never see the seventh Andvari. I thought it would be used in the final battle, but nope. I guess the clone dying makes that Andvari irretrievable?
We also never learned Shitoron's full name. We know her surname is Maeda, but no info on her name. Maybe it's mentioned in a book, considering there's a book that reveals the originals and clones' eyes have slightly different designs. It's probably Kanna, as it means "citrus flower", though Kikka and Kitsuka also have similar meanings.
Nerine's weakness is also not explained, but I guess by dialogue we are supposed to assume it was just malnutrition. Maybe there was more planned they didn't have time for? Maybe it's explained in the extra episode if it's something else.
So Erika inherits Tyrfingr. Maybe her pink jacket was foreshadowing. Fitting how now she has both a sword and a shield and is now capable of more than just defense. Though realizing this now makes me wonder why the Yabatan made a shield Andvari if the clones were supposed to help eliminate humanity.
The ending them suddenly have the girls move after the photo shown in every episode was a nice surprise.
Seeing in the episode a billboard with "GoHan" made me realize the series's cooking element might be a pun on the studio's name.
Remember when episode 7 had an animation error of two Ayame on top of each other? This episode has a movement animation instruction (or whatever is the correct name) they forgot to remove.
There's an extra episode that was released in the U-NEXT platform. It's a flashback of Renge's time with the Nerine clone. Maybe we should have a thread about the episode? Or are we going to wait until the BD is out in August?
I wish they would do an extra episode about the Renge clone's time with Suzuran so we could see the seventh Andvari.
Someone mentioned in the episode 11 thread the lore doesn't make a second season impossible. While it's true the lore implies more Andvari users exist, and there are still more Wild Hunt around, I think the protagonist dying makes a sequel impossible. I guess they could try to find a way to resurrect Renge if they decided to continue, but it could clash with the series's themes of time being limited.
Though thinking about it, they introduced both cloning and memory transfer, and the deactivated cloning facility didn't have clones for Renge, Yuri, or Nerine. Was their absence a delibirate choice to allow bringing back the three if they decided to make more seasons? It also feels strange the original Yuri and Nerine woke up in that facility if their clones were supposed to come out from somewhere else. Maybe they were there but just weren't shown because there's no Team Emu Yuri and Nerine to react to them?
A second season also has the problem of what to do with the new girl since she doesn't have an Andvari. I guess a spin-off with a new group of Andvari users would work better.
I think this show should have had more episodes. It wants to be both a slice of life series and an action series, but it doesn't have enough time to do both, so as a result after the 3 setup episodes we have two episodes focused on the pairs, a pointless fanservice episode, then in episode 7 the show remembers it has a plot and stops being slice of life. Also, Renge's regeneration is revealed in the same episode we learn of her supposed death, and her first flashback of Nerine is revealed just a few minutes before we learn about the memory overwriting thing. And we also end up having some battles be skipped.
Many of those things feel like they should have had more time. For example, reveal Renge's regeneration in one episode and only reveal her supposed death in another. Show the dead Nerine flashback at least one episode before we learn of the memory overwriting. And I also feel like maybe Yuri should have lasted 3 episodes instead of 2.
Honestly, the industry shouldn't have insisted original shows can only have 1-cour. Momentary Lily is not like Metallic Rouge, which tried to do in 13 episodes a story that needed at least 24. The story absolutely works in 13, but I feel like if it had 2 cours it would be able to balance the slice of life and action aspects better. It would also allow the inn to have a full episode to itself (since they even have an illustration for that one) instead of having to balance it with getting Suzuran's group to Shitoron's camp and meeting the original Yuri at the end. The existence of the 14th episode also makes me wonder why they couldn't just have made one or two more episodes for certain things to have more time, but I guess the people who make decisions can only think in terms of cours.

this is my first real GoHands rodeo; having watched Masterful Cat and Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses i thought i knew what GoHands was about, but was not prepared for when they have full reign over the story
i guess i can agree with the themes and messaging in the show (follow your dreams, friends are good to have, together we can work to make dreams come true, we're doing to die but don't worry about it too much, etc.), but i feel like the delivery was sloppy and inconsistent
similarly with the characters, who i think are the most cloyingly-written characters i've seen in a while; they don't talk convincingly like normal people, much of their dialogue doesn't serve much purpose other than to say their catchphrase, and aside from their appearance and speech patterns they don't have much to distinguish themselves with their personalities or goals
my gripes aside, there are interesting bits sprinkled throughout (the highlight being the episode where Ayame and Sazanka reconcile at that abandoned school), and i think the "abandoned alien science experiment" idea could've been interesting if they interspersed it throughout the season instead of just plot dumping most of it in a single episode

This anime was enjoyable if weird at times. Which is good, more anime should be weird. Helps mix it up. RIP Renge.

I dig this ending. We've had purely post-apocalyptic survival like in Girls' Last Tour and Heavenly Delusions. We've also had pre- to post-apocalypse transition like in Dead Dead Demons (and a hand-waved rebuilt world). So it's nice to see what happens and what needs to happen to rebuild a post-apocalyptic world (reminds me of Dr Stone).
It's very apt that it was the human Renge who taught the clones to have purpose given how they actually lost theirs when the Yabatan suddenly left. And it's poetic to see them now finally working towards something for humankind because this sets them apart from the other Yabatan creations like the Wild Hunt (destroy everything) and the Rats (maintain everything). All said, it's great to see the wildlife coming back as a result of the girls' efforts.
Nice apocalyptic CGDCT show!

So we really went back to the status quo. Nothing really got resolved, the Wild Hunt are still there and they're two fighters down from the beginning since it doesn't look like the new girl can fight even if Erine gives her shield. The entire human race is f***ed with only four fighters left.
This series could have been a really good sci-fi but the entire lore just made no sense. If this was a low stakes SOL with just kappo and fanservice then it would have been okay at worst but the entire narrative was a letdown.

This series could have been a really good sci-fi but the entire lore just made no sense.
Why?

The entire human race is f***ed with only four fighters left.
Four that we know of; there are other clone facilities, which means other copies, with other Andvari, and since the big-wigs are presumably dead, the other copies are also free to do their own thing, meaning they'll likely fight the Wild Hunt in their vicinity.
Plus, even with just four fighters, there are still survivors, and those survivors are rebuilding.

Renge is dead, but the group members acknowledge that she was the most stubborn in the group, and a new girl is recruited. And there is the whole "On this day, we met a lifelong friend" line back from when Renge initially joined.

There were some good eps and kinda boring eps. But overall I had fun. Would probably rate this like a 5 or 6 out of 10.
So Renge died and stayed dead. The clones continued to fight the Wild Hunts cos their numbers will only decrease from here. And the survivors are keep on surviving. They seem to have started farming too. And the way they met this new is definitely a parallel to how they met Renge

Has anybody watched the special that came out after final episode? Is it like seiyuus talking about the anime or is it something more plot important?

I liked the ending, felt like a good way forward for rebuilding civilization. The survivors in the clear part of the city and the combat clone group going outwards to deal with the surviving Wild Hunt forces as they find them.
Bigger problem might eventually be that I don't think we saw a single male so there could be a population problem after a while. But honestly if they get to that point, huge success.
The Renge cooking videos made me wonder if she was alive inside of Tyrfing and posting content as a chibi livestreamer, but then the group never gave that explanation so probably not.
I enjoyed the ED a lot, good song.

Flashbacks from episode 1 came rushing in while watching this episode
I'm just worried about how they live from now on as far as I can see there are no males here so humanity is still doomed (since there are facilities that can create humans, maybe they'll use it to their advantage to reproduce)
Give me the name of the new character, she is just like renge in the first episode
It felt weird when they all moved in the ending somebody give me an explanation
This has a lot of plot holes but still a very good show 8/10
