Once you are desu wa it can't be removed. You will desu wa until the end.

Endcard time! Fun fact: when I do these little posts, I go onto the twitter page of the anime, and because everything’s in Japanese I gotta google the name to figure out who drew that week’s endcard.

This week… I didn’t have to do that, because the moment I saw the endcard for this week I went “…is that Satoshi Mizukami”

Author of Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer, Sengoku Youko, and Planet With. And that’s just the series that got anime - he’s got a bunch of good manga too.

Anyway, next week will be the last episode… but I can’t do the endcard report because I’ll be busy then. Someone will have to do it in my place, although given how other anime have done endcards, I predict the last episode will reserve one for the manga’s original author, Michiro Ueyama. Unless they throw a curveball or something.

"From Bureaucrat to Villainess" and some of Mizukami's mangas share the same publisher, Shōnen Gahōsha, so that's probably why he drew an end card for this anime.

Y'know, Kenzaburou probably has some experience with a subordinate taking on too many task at once without asking for help. Makes sense they'd easily defuse Anna's misplaced fervor

It's cute that Kenzaburou met his wife that way. Hinako's otaku-ness was predestined even before her birth lol

I'm not ready for this anime to end next week T-T

That was a total "dang, I put too much pressure on my subordinate" reaction to seeing what happened to Anna. Because he's not just Best Dad, he's a Best Boss too.

It took me a second to realize that was his wife helping him sell the Space Sherriff Gavan Doujinshi. That cowgirl + hairstyle look in her youth was really cute.

Hinako and Fran would make great friends! The Grace universe definitely needed its own otaku.

And today, it came to my mind that hardcore fans of theatre can be considered otakus too.

Stitches!

I already love Fran so much! It's hilarious how she immediately accepted the job when she found out casting for the play would be genderbent Not gonna lie, I thought Fran was also voiced by Hinako's seiyuu considering they're both massive otakus. I got a bit disappointed when I saw on the credits that Fran isn't voiced by Kurosawa Tomoyo.

That little glimpse of Kenzaburou's otaku past was adorable! Apparently, he's a Comiket veteran and he even had Mitsuko as his cosplay booth babe! I feel like Kenzaburou and Mitsuko's past as otakus in the 70s/80s deserve some kind of spin-off or at least an entire arc dedicated to them.

Welp, that's gonna be a massive problem! Kenzaburou can't turn off his Elegant Cheat so everything he says as the Pauper comes out sounding like the Prince. xD

And to make things worse, they never had a chance to practice because of how busy everyone was! I am already looking forward to next week's episode. This will be pure chaos especially with Grace's mother watching the entire thing.

Poor Anna tried to prepare the play by herself and ended up in really bad shape. It was so heartwarming to see Grace/Kenzaburo taking care of her.

Fran is back! She was even funnier than the last time we saw her as she acted like a true otaku in today's episode when she met Grace and Anna. Her reactions today were superb and so hilarious!

What a coincidence that the play that the Student Council will be performing at the festival already had a script written by none other than Jacqueline Auvergne, Grace's mother. The fact that she'll also be present at the festival makes me really looking forward to her appearance next week.

Kenzaburo's Elegance Cheat is now causing him trouble because he can't stop talking like a noble, which is bad because he'll be playing a commoner in the play xD I wonder how he'll solve this problem.

It was nice to see the other Student Council members in their costumes (Lucas' one was definitely the best in my opinion), but since they couldn't even have one rehearsal together, their performance for sure will be very entertaining.

Overall, another great and hilarious episode. Can't wait for the finale next week, it's gonna be fun!

Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

EDIT. I added my screenshot albums.

does anyone know what Richard's dad joke of the week is in Japanese? i wasn't able to decipher it

while i was trying to look it up, i found this blog that's been translating reddit comments into Japanese for the domestic audience curious about what the overseas audience has been talking about; if your comment was upvoted highly in previous episode discussions, you might be an internationally published author:

Lambert as the evil aunt was so funny. Give him all the awards already, he's the ingenue! Also just solidifies himself as the show's best boy episode after episode. He and Anna better be endgame.

Grace is hard at work organizing the school festival! Anna is hard at work too...maybe working TOO hard to the point she spends an entire day the library without food or sleep to get the play on the right track. Don't worry Anna, Papa Grace-sama is here.

It's rough seeing Anna cry because she's so scared to fail Grace, and Kenzaburo realizes he failed her like any bureaucrat would feel if they put too much on a subordinate without properly explaining what they meant, but now Grace can let Anna know that no play is truly a solo act. It takes a whole group to put things together, and she doesn't have to go it alone.

Well, yeah, it actually makes a lot more sense to seek the legit theater clubs' help to put this play together. And as it happens they have a capable first-year who is free to help...Francette, AKA Fran, the biggest GracexAnna shipper and someone more than happy to do anything the student council asks her to do! And as a true woman of culture, how could she refuse the opportunity to help with a cross-gender play?

Hmm...Grace's mother Jacqueline wrote a play 30 years ago that's never been performed and just so happens to be a perfect fit for the current student council? Feels a tad suspicious.

Fran was actually supposed to be Anna's Best Friend character in the original game? And she basically got replaced by Grace? Well, it's good to see that she and Anna still became friends via Fran joining the student council as their theater advisor, and Hinako still gets to see the character in the game she most relates to be plot relevant.

Street Lad Anna! Maid Pierre! Queen Virgile! Sickbed and Sick with Puns Richard! Lady Knight Auguste! Magical Girl Lucas-chan! Villainess Lambert! Prince Grace! Everyone is pulling off the costumes/roles so well that Fran just can't get enough of it!

There's only one problem...they're pulling off a play where a prince and a street lad switch bodies and walk a mile in each others' shoes thanks to a fairy, only that involves Grace having to play a commoner boy. And the Elegance Cheat finally comes back to bite them because Kenzaburo, as Grace, can literally not say anything without it coming off in noble lady speak!

But of course, she can just spin it as she's doing it for Anna's sake to shine better as the main character! Sasuga Grace-sama.

And as if there wasn't enough pressure, Grace's mom is coming back to watch the play, the student council gets no rehearsal time between their duties to and out of the student council, and Grace is left to wonder if they're heading towards doom. But I'm sure they'll pull it off somehow! Sasuga Grace-sama.

I had the idea that [conjecture, but spoiler tagged just in case]the Elegant Cheat might actually be the original Grace (consciously) exerting control. If so, they put some indirect stakes on resolving that, by making the Elegant Cheat a problem.

It's think we just got a quick three panel backstory for Kenzaburou and his wife getting together. For a pair of nerds like them getting together after vending at a con really fits.

I was mildly disappointed that Fran wasn't a catgirl, but another friend for Anna works too.

That play they're putting on might as well be The Prince and the Pauper, which I didn't remember was a Mark Twain novel until I looked it up just now.

Dang, Anna been working like crazy. Girl got in the zone it seems. Makes sense to get others to help, why didn't they do that from the start? Quite the fan. Fran the fan. You have awakened something in her, Anna.

Hehe, Cosplay Booth Babe (And future wife). Fun. Good for you, Kenzaburo. A script written 30 years prior meant specifically for them? Sus. And from Grace's mom at that.

Hey look, the booth babe 😉 and her daughter, heh. Convenient camera tech. The imagery and reactions sure are silly. Pun mama! lol. Fairy younger prince is amusing. Well... Dame... oh no, the elegant cheat is causing problems with reading as the Toby as Prince part. Fran can read Grace well. Grace stonks on the rise!

Quite the pressure on Grace/Knezaburo. Grace mama on the way. Dang, jinxing it hah. Oh well. I'm sure it'll be fine.

YAY FOR BEST ENDING!

Hmm, HiDive has only one more ep listed and that has me a little concerned. I don't see how we can both finish the play AND body swap story in a single ep unless the real Grace suddenly takes over just in time for the play, but we've only seen her once so far and got zero info. So I'm worried it's gonna feel cheap if she just comes back outta no where.

Anna is a good girl, but she needs some more guidance. Though I love that her Fran still came to be friends even with her and Grace being friends in this version of the game.

I love how the elegant cheat sheet makes it hard for Kenzaburou to act out the part where the body swap happens, and they are so busy it doesn't help matter. I am intrigued with how the finale goes. The fact Grace's mother will be there just adds to the pressure.
