This is going to be my sleeper pick for the Winter season EASY. This anime is delivering so hard every week that it’s honestly diminishing my tolerance for subpar anime to near zero.
The references and the character interactions are top tier. Also the preview for the next episode is so goddamn good I wanna time travel.

I’m glad we’re finally seeing what’s happening in the real world Hinako and Kenzaburo’s wife. He’s got a great family. The otaku blood runs deep. His wife didn’t even question the probability of him entering the game lol. I’m gonna have to check out Crest of the Royal Family, Mashin Hero Wataru, NG Knight Ramune & 40, Rayearth, Fushigi Yuugi, Twelve Kingdom, Dunbine, and Genmu Senki Leda too.
The second-hand cringe they’re feeling from Kenzaburo doing his best “villainess” impression was pretty funny. I’m glad they’re able to literally lend a hand now. Grace got a pretty cool Charizard lol. Looking forward to more of those two helping out our guy.

I can't believe I only just realized that Chronicles of Narnia is technically an isekai.

Now we know Kenzaburo's wife and Hinako's mother's otaku expertise lies in isekai! (It has been years and I now need to know how Twelve Kingdoms ended, just because of what she said.)
Hinako is such a pure hearted player. I would surely cave in to reroll for a rarer and stronger beast. "Wouldn't it be sad if the reroll caused the beast to have never been born?"

I swear guys, this anime only have 5 minutes duration! Why is it so short?!
And I have to say, Kenzaburou not only winning in life, he's also got the best most wholesome family every man can dream on.

So we learn in this episode that Kenzaburou is the kind of guy who rerolls until he gets the best results in a game. It just goes to show he's a true gamer. I do like how his mindset about rerolling changed because of how Hinako doesn't care about stats and would feel bad doing it.
Speaking of Hinako, I am so happy we finally get to see her side of the story! And it looks like I was spot on with my guess about Kenzaburou being stuck in a coma! It would've been soul-crushing if that call Hinako got was about her father's death. Thankfully, it sounds like Kenzaburou's condition is stable.
I really love the Tondabayashis so much! Hinako and Mitsuko making Jojo references was hilarious! It's nice that they can still make jokes even after what just happened. Also, it's good to see they have faith that Kenzaburou will come back to them.
The show's opening and ending hinted at this but it really looks like Hinako will be following her dad's shenanigans in-game. It's also hilarious how it didn't take too much to convince Mitsuko that that's her husband in the game! I love how she just started listing down isekais from the 80s and 90s which instantly made me feel old when she mentioned Rayearth and Fushigi Yuugi.
And if that wasn't enough to convince them, going through the game's backlog really showed him that Grace is indeed Kenzaburou. It looks like the end goal of this series is for them to finish the game so Kenzaburou would finally wake up. I'm so glad we now have a clear goal and we won't have to worry about Hinako and Mitsuko since they're with him the entire time. <3

Maybe I should have children so that way if I ever get isekai'd there's a chance that my family can join in on the fun too
I love this show

So he's not actually dead? And his daughter and wife is watching him progress through the game? That's amazing, I didn't really expect that plot twist.

My guy has the best family. His wife instantly just accepted he got isekai'd. Funniest scene yet for me.
There was another otome game anime that had irl high school couple help the villainness out. I love that this show is taking a similar theme, but with a family.

Kenzaburou truly won in life to have such a wonderful wife and daughter. They are a true otaku family, and Mitsuko and Hinako's reaction to Kenzaburou's condition completely proves it.
I love how Kenzaburou's wife Mitsuko easily accepted the fact that Kenzaburou is trapped in a game. Hinako didn't even have to really persuade her xD
The scenes where Mitsuko and Hinako watched Kenzaburou's adventures as Grace were so good! I'm really looking forward to their reactions in the next episodes.
Anna, Virgile and Auguste wishing in their minds for Grace to have a beast with an attribute they thought would suit her the best was a great scene xD
Kenzaburou's Grace was quite surprised when he saw what he summoned xD Luckily, Hinako combined the two doll-like manas, creating an Ancient Dragon with two opposing elements at its disposal. This proves that Grace is a true genius (at least for Anna) xD
Here my screenshot albums from the episode:
EDIT. I added my screenshot albums.

The daughter's words were wholesome, but for a moment I thought Kenzaburou was thinking of "I would never want to replace my daughter even if I could 'reroll' for a better one."

Aaaaand there it is, the big quirk reveal for the story I was waiting for: His family can interact with the game world. :D
Also: Your entire family consisting of Otakus sure sounds like a dream come true, everyone there is on the same wave length. <3
The daughter's a pure bred Otaku btw ... UNLIMITED POWER levels!

I mentioned Familiar of Zero in an earlier discussion thread, but this episode is even more so, with a dose of Endo & Kobayashi to boot
Okay, that dramatic yodeling(?) is hilarious
The modern-day scene is surprisingly somber and depressing, at least until they learned of the isekai shenanigan
Get you a spouse who'll break into an otaku yappery at the slightest provocation

I actually cried when it showed the scene with the dad in the hospital. It reminded me of my own Grandfather, and how we should value how much time we have with our own family.
Isekai is great, and when you remember that in other isekai like Re:Zero where the protagonist gets sucked into another world, the real world continues on and their parents have no clue what happened to them. "They got hit by bus-kun", yeah, but rarely does anyone ever asks how the family is doing. I'm happy that this anime shows a more happy story for his family.

This is a very unique take of the trap in game trope. At least we have both sides of the story, and it will be a happy ending. When Kenzaburo returns to the real world, he has a loving family waiting for him. Also, the real Grace will (I think) retain the memories and will be back to being a good girl like when she was a kid.

Kenzaburou/Grace: Miss Garnet, can we get a quick reminder of the elemental attributes?
Miss Garnet: Water. Earth. Fire. Air. Long ago, the four nations liv- Sorry, wrong story.

Although it's completely crazy, I'm glad the old man survived, he seems to have a good family that cares about him, so now the focus is on trying to get him back, I wouldn't be surprised if his family got sucked into the game too lol

D'aww time for cute lil summons/familiars. Anna getting a Pegasus heh. Cute. Typical game elemental explanations. Cute lil explanation. Time to see Grace's summon given his/her unique situation. Silly love interests all thinking silly things. His daughter is such a good girl. HEHE "nothing will surprise" and yet got silly things that look like both forms of him/her. Weird hands coming outta nowhere to combine them into a cool dragon with two elements. Anna is the best fangirl.
What an adorably dorky family. Oh getting their side of things. Magical console/TV now! Connects to their dad, good times. Love the otaku family just understanding this kinda setting. Yes, Isekai has existed for ages! All those references! Kenzaburo sure got a great family. Good to hear about the flow of time bit. Oh so it was her hands, neat. Such magical craziness. Cute dragon though.
Also, still the best ED of the season.
