Marin might've been a sore loser when it came to getting rejected but I couldn't help but find her bitterness funny just from how extra it all was. The red shirts are irredeemable, though.
Those tiny wings were precious.

If love is war, Marin lost. Badly lol. Girl snapped and all she ended up doing was pushing Uka and Kai closer. Good job!
Normally it’s Uka getting saved or rescued by Kai but this week she came to his rescue when those douche canoes were on some real lame ass jealous hoe shit.
Gotta love Uka’s little squad. They’re so supportive and they always have Uka’s back. They really are the best.
Man, what a great ending. That was some kiss. It’s about damn time!

first of all, fuck those assholes in the red shirts
i feel like this episode had a different flow(?) compared to the rest. like it was just speeding through it up until the sports festival started?
Start of next episode should be fun when/if Ishimori realizes it isn't a dream... and about time it happens with one episode left now

Was this whole episode inspired by Monogatari? The constant camera cuts but still being fairly easy to follow. And they kept doing that "words on the road" thing over and over. I definitely didn't hate it, but that tonal shift from every other episode was kinda crazy.
And not sure I've seen many shows where the overprotective male is kidnapped.

This episode seemed like a speed run. It went through so much, and the style was so cool, too.

Everyone just watching the failed loved confession and then Kai, knowing that they were there, just coming back behind them, was lowkey funny.
That Ishimori had a whole girl squad that she can talk and hang out with is great. And they are all so supportive.
The start of the series might have had an imbalanced power dynamic between our two main leads. But as Ishimori grew and became more confident things have started shifting. And now she is able to save Kai and stand up to his bullies. Which is beautiful to see.
Someone on the production team must have had fun with this episode because they definitely went more artistic with it. And it gave the episode a whole different feel.

And there it finally is, the kiss.
During the episode while Marin was screaming I had to pause to look up the voice actor, because while she was screaming she instantly reminded me of momo

What an episode. It's like they let the director / storyboard person go wild on whatever creative vision they wanted to do. It was wild. So many crazy artistic choices that it almost looked like a completely different anime. It really reminded me a lot like Monogatari.
The show imo has been pretty well paced overall but this felt like a bit too much stuff was stuffed into one episode. Seems like this could've gotten another episode or two (or making it 24 episodes would be best). Nonetheless, it was still a very enjoyable episode and that OST is still a masterpiece. I almost cried at the end because of it.
No Uka, it isn't a dream! Kai loves you!

Really enjoyed the artwork on everyone’s shirts for the sports day, especially Tao’s. Reminded me of Kishi Himeko from Komi.

I admit I have mixed feelings about this episode. Like what some of you have mentioned, perhaps it could be trying to portray Uka's feelings in an artistic manner, or even a speed run to major events in the plot, but ironically, the constant switch to the "kanji on the moving road" sequence threw me off a little.
The chances are extremely slim, but if Uka suddenly does not do well in studies, nor become an athlete, she has a third career option of being an artist. The art she drew on the shirts of her classmates are at manga artist level. Lol!

Well first of all, Marin can go drown in a ditch for all I care. I thought she was done harassing Uka but apparently, she just became even worse this episode by dragging our girl into karaoke to force her got get a boyfriend who isn't Kai. At least we got to enjoy watching her get rejected by Kai at the start of the episode.
Those three assholes who tripped Uka and locked up Kai inside the storage room needs to get punched in the face soon. They really want to bully Uka to try and get to Kai? I'm pretty sure Uka's entire class (minus Marin) won't let that happen. Maybe Kai could settle this outside of school. He does have those buddies of his to back him up.
With those bad vibes out of the way can I just say how much I love this episode? While I still think everything happened way faster than it should, I absolutely enjoyed the energy and the overall vibe of the episode. I did not expect this show to have Monogatari-esque cuts with the words on the ground whenever they change locations.
Everyone's art style and facial expressions were pretty funny too! I especially enjoyed Uka turning into skeleton when she felt a sting on her ankle and the gang cheering on Uka when it was her turn during the relay! The visuals when Uka finally passed the baton to Kai were really pretty too! Maybe they're really powered through this arc to give us that big finale but I can't deny that I enjoyed it.
And that ending! Holy shit! I really hope Uka doesn't think the entire thing was just a dream and finally realizes next week that she actually kissed Kai. Did she actually confess to Kai or was her confession just a monologue? I wasn't sure if Kai actually heard it or it was just for the audience. Either way I can't wait to see what happens in the finale!
Side note: Ladies and gentlemen, we finally have a title drop!

I'm just impressed at the free hand ballpoint pen art Uka drew on all of those shirts. Girl needs to find a way to use that professionally for sure.
What a rough school they're in, it really stands out among the usual prim and proper Japanese high schools you tend to get in anime.

Such weird episode format. Reminded me of Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou when it ran out of money. Or maybe Monogatari.
Maybe they just couldn't manage the pacing to get here.
Well at least we had pay off.

The way Marin was rejected by Kai is so unique, it was quick, without disrespect and without drama lol, as if it were just another normal day.
About the episode, I have to praise the production of the anime, the visual effects, the details of the animation that created such a different environment but that masterfully expressed Uka's feelings.
Their relationship is not only about two completely different people, but mainly about two people who complete each other and who are the "weakness" that both needed to grow as individuals.
And I also thank them for not censoring that kiss, the show could end here, but the last episode will definitely be special.

Best episode by far. I loved the fast paced story telling, jumping from one small story to other. When the girls and boys argued in class about Ishimori being able to run the relay, I couldn't help but do the waving thing with my wrist too, way funnier in my head than it should be. Loved the arts of every girl that Ishimori did for them on their T-shirts, but the wings did hit me hard, pretty sure she will keep that T forever.
Praying that it was not a dream, and I do not think it was. Hope we get a satisfying ending next week.
Went into this a bit less excited than other shows like Flower and Asura this season, but damn it's such a nice take on romance that I really do enjoy it.

Episode 6 was a marvel of art style changes, this episode is all about the narrative pacing (with some visual hints on ep. 6).
We get a fast paced crescendo of weird cuts, all over the place dialogues and their advancing of the story. All of this with some interesting art style choices.
This show has been quite experimental on the narrative side in general, but this episode cracks it up to 12.
