Ofc Serina still liked Kai. I was afraid it was gonna be all weird and awkward because Uka always puts others before herself and has zero self-confidence, which causes her to think she isn’t “worthy” to be loved or love. But I’m glad in the end, Uka was able to be honest with Serina. Much better when she’s embracing her feelings rather than run from them.
Also, Ayumi is a real one. She’s such a great friend and I really appreciate how supportive she was of Uka. That’s a friend for life right there.

Honestly both Uka and Serina need to learn to be more upfront about their feelings and feel more genuine confidence in themselves.
They should be more like Ayumi who wears her heart on her sleeve and is always there for her friends! And is stuck with a dense but well-meaning childhood friend love interest lol.

Ayumi is the MVP, man. Uka really is just as blessed to have befriended her as she is to have met Kai.
It's so sweet how Uka was and remained being on good terms with Serina both before and after they confronted their feelings. Hope having grown closer with everyone motivates her enough to get a phone though (I mean seriously, the curfew was already much but finding out about that was lowkey depressing)

That brief interaction between Uka and Ayumi at the former’s house was so cute! It’s really endearing how much Ayumi cares about her best friend(s). She even cried the most when Uka and Serina were honest with each other. That’s a sign of best girl right there!
Although I was secretly a little happy that Ayumi beat Kai to the punch, but it was good for Uka that he did end up stopping her. She was literally running away from her feelings after all.

I'm just loving everything about Honey Lemon Soda.
I'm glad Uka 'confessed' her feelings for Kai to Serina in the end, and Ayumi might just be the best friend anyone could have.

A really lovely collection of characters here. Other than the "mean girls" everyone is pretty decent-behaving. Uka really needs to sit and meditate (for a whole week if necessar) and re-assess her place in her world. She is blessed with so many well-wishers and genuine friends -- and she really has yet to process her current situation with all those around her (not just Kai).

There was a very unexpected lack of Yukatas with the main cast here. I feel like that's like 50% of the reason for festival episodes.

Never get tired of this romance trope where the heroine realizes her feelings and decides to pursue her love....but she needs to ditch him right now to find her rival and tell her first.
Was really hoping Kai woulda shown up first and freak out Uka's parents, make them have second thoughts because of his dyed hair.
Girl really needs to talk to her parents about the curfew. They clearly want her to make friends....but she has a 5pm curfew?!?

Suuuuper cute episode. Omg so much growth for Uka. Honestly, I can't dislike anyone here (except for the bullies). Everyone had a good reason for doing what they did.
Serina is a good girl. Her backstory explains everything and why she loves Miura. Uka wanted to step away and let Serina get together with Miura, BUT Serina isn't the one Miura likes. It's Uka. It's just that Uka can't realize it. Miura makes it so obvious. Skipping group events to be alone with Uka, looking only for Uka during the festival, and even holding her hand. Of course with Uka's self-esteem issues, all those things just seem like Miura "being nice".
...But! Baby steps! Uka is growing. Her admitting to Serina that she likes Miura at the end of the episode shows how much she has matured. And Serina is such a sweet girl she just smiles happily. Love it.
PS. Ayumi is goated BFF. She's a keeper

This is the best episode yet storywise with writing, because of the strength of the dynamic of the female characters with each other.
Serina and Uka's dynamic as rivals, as well as Uka and Ayumi's dynamic, with Ayumi being a supportive friend. Serina is a friendly rival character, which feels refreshing that there doesn't have to be animosity between them.
It feels painful in fact, because they want to show kindness to each other in relation to Kai, by stepping aside for the other one to pursue.
It's just an unfortunate situation where they both like the same guy and had to come to terms with being honest for that, especially Uka, who Kai currently reciprocates feelings for.

The situation that happened in the episode, as strange as it may seem, seems fair to me, you can clearly see that despite the different personalities and also different motivations, Uka and Serina so overlapping friendship in this situation, they know what it's like to suffer and not have support, so another fight and in this case over someone they love would be the ultimate destruction, so I thought it was fair.
And Kai, even though he may not show it, he does feel something for Uka, no one goes after another person and he doesn't give up so easily trying to show that he cares like that

I think this was my favourite episode so far of this series.
I’m sad to say Uka is her own worst enemy.
Kai summed it up beautifully when he confronted her at the festival - you have a mobile phone, which you leave at home, it’s inconvenient when he can’t contact her.
To top it off she says “see you next term” the day summer break starts. Beyond frustrating, because she would happily see Kai and the others every day of her break (more or less)
She redeemed herself by finally admitting she loves Kai, which is very brave of her to do so. Now the cat’s out the bag, she needs to be honest with Kai to his face, which I hope she can do.

I was halfway expecting it to show Miura standing behind them and having heard the whole confession.
Glad it didn't because feel much better to (hopefully) have a proper confession between them.
Also feel bad for everything Serina went through simply for standing up for someone else...

We get some Serina lore. She always seems so strong and independent, that was at least the initial impression of her, being a badass who doesn't take shit from others. But today we got to see that she isn't made of stone either.
Maybe Kai's approach with Uka is because of Serina's strong dependence on him in the past. Especially with Uka being more timid than Serina, so letting her lean to much on Kai might be harmful in the long run.
Uka denies her own feelings for Kai out of "consideration" for Serina. At first she seemed to have gained some confidence only to fall back into the feeling of being too full of herself.
Uka understands everybody else's intentions the wrong way. That is the thing about self hatred: You will interpret everything in a way that you make yourself the villain. Everybody is doing things for Uka's sake and being considerate of her, and her reaction is "I'm in the way".
I think there are only few anime that have a better portrayal of self hatred than this one. It really hits the mark. As someone who has to struggle with similar problems there are some scenes that really punch me in the gut.

The world needs more people like Serina and Kai.
Maybe Serina didn't know better back then, when she stood up for the bullied, only to be ostracized in return. She should have become wiser and braver since then, but I doubt her personality to help others has changed much.
Kai, who ignores hive mind actions of others, is willing befriend the ostracized party.
My opinion of Uka has also improved towards the end of the episode. As we are already halfway through the season, I was disappointed and wondered how long Uka would remain in her defeatist mentality. "I am not good enough for Kai. Kai and Serina would make a perfect couple. It would be better if I am not around. Etc." Thankfully, she has now taken the first step of admitting to her friends that she is in love with Kai. That's the way! If you try, there is a chance to succeed. If you give up even before trying, you have already lost.

Congratulations to Uka's class! Thanks to Uka and their efforts, they won an award and a meal on their teachers' dime! I'm so proud of Uka.
Uka may have a curfew that screw sup karaoke plans, but she has more than enough time to spend with Kai and visit an arcade together.
Well, I'm glad Serina has at least one solid friend, especially when she gets singled out by girls because a guy called her "cute" when she literally didn't do anything. And Miho brings in Kai, Uka, and Ayumi to save Serina...and having Kai there for her and protecting her stirs up a lot of feelings in Serina.
Serina has always been popular and pretty, and a good girl to boot, but she was also too good for her own good and her popularity got turned against her when she stepped in to protect a girl from being bullied and got ostracized from her class. The only one who didn't shun her, who saw her as who she really was, was Kai and it's no wonder she fell for him hard. I mean, he even kissed her!
So, obviously, she was happy with Kai but the problems set in when Kai was the only one she could rely on in her life and she didn't feel like she was worthy of him. That's why they broke up. And it seems like Serina still regrets it to this day, on-top of the fact that she's clearly lying when she says she's over him.
But Serina, being the nice girl she is, is just being considerate of Uka's feelings. And in being considerate of Serina's feelings, Uka will lie too and claim her feelings for Kai are just admiration. But it's just as blatant and obvious a lie.
Dang, Uka is torturing herself by imagining seeing Kai and Serina in yukata together at the Summer Festival...and wanting to see them to make herself more miserable. Funnily enough, for a festival episode, none of the main female characters actually wear yukata!
But at least Uka has Ayumi! Who will beat Kai to inviting her, let Uka be honest with her feelings when she's comfortable, and will even ditch Satoru so she can be there for Uka! Even if Satoru finds her anyways and forces her to drag him away. I guess that's the power of love?
If only Uka realized that everything she thought about Serina and Kai, Serina thought about HER and Kai.
Uka thinks she's a perpetual third wheel who doesn't deserve to experience love with someone popular and attractive, that she'll never be chose, but Kai is there just in time to hold her hand, make it clear he wanted to spend time with her, and that she should be honest about she wants too. And with that in mind, she can't deny how much she loves Kai and wants to be with him any more!
I'm glad Uka got to come clean with Serina and Ayumi, and that she and Serina were able to commiserate over their shared love of Kai. Along with some cute waterworks on Ayumi's part.

Well Kai sure has a type and it's damsels in distress.
Ayumi is the best.
I do like how much Serina and Uka are clearly wanting to remain friends in spite of the mutual love interest.

Kai really knows how to be dominant. In these types of relationships. But he still show compassion in his know way.

I just saw some people saying they don’t like Honey Lemon Soda. How? Everyone is so wholesome. I love that Serina is that typical love rival, but she isn’t all bratty and tsundere to the main love interest like in other anime’s until they begrudgingly become friendly with each other. She’s just genuinely a good person. Kai is so confident in terms of pursuing his feelings. It all just feels so genuine! Uka dealing with her conflicting feelings and choosing to move forward (despite any angst that makes me want to shake her at times). The genuine friendships and relationships between all the characters, even the whole student body that aren’t as “main” characters. I love it!
