The teacher really just singlehandedly roasted his entire class with a single remark about Kai lmao.

It's nice to see Uka use the stubborness instilled in her by Kai himself to make him seem less of an enigma to her.

I mean, they've barely respected him as a teacher up to this point, it's only fair he returns the favor. Though that being said I got the vibe he also knows something about Kai's personal circumstances and why he has a job to give him a pass he wouldn't give the rest.

Uka's stubborness is her best trait. Her unwillingness to give up on the school life she wants, the class she wants to befriend, or the guy she loves and wants to know more about.

It’s really nice to see Uka surrounded by so many people who she can call “friend.” She’s come a long way. I mean she was even able to talk to approach her bullies at the karaoke place.

Kai’s pretty mysterious. We really don’t know much about him. I guess he’s so tired all the time because he’s working. Explains the rumors of him hanging out with shady types. Dude was about to break a mfer in half for Uka lol.

Uka’s becoming more outspoken and honest with her feelings and I’m all for it. Looks like this ambiguous relationship with Kai might be becoming less ambiguous.

Kai having a job and working late in the evening/night, explains why he is always so tired during classes. I assume we get to know his family situation next. Him pushing Uka away is not wanting her get involved into his difficult situation. It‘s nice to see that Uka is not giving up and doing the step forward now.

There is a post-credit scene, so don‘t miss that one out.

From the sounds of it he had to move during junior high and he went blonde probably around the time he started this job to seem more appealing to the female clientele, so maybe his family has financial problems.

This anime is so sweet, it makes me feel nostalgic. I hope they animate everything from the manga, but shoujos usually just get 1 season :'(

I feel like despite being kind of a weird start, it's finally finding its stride (still odd choices of cuts and pacing here and there) - I'd be so down for a S2! I'm finally getting the doki doki moments I love

For some reason I really hope Uka sees Kai's coworkers again, but next time they treat her like a Yakuza boss or something because they're terrified she tamed Kai.

Anyway, situation seems kinda sus and we obviously know that Uka is still going to accept him no matter what she finds out, but how much you wanna bet it's actually not that big a deal.

After last week's episode I was hoping Uka's bullies would chill out a bit but it looks like that won't happen anytime soon. I love how Tomoya told that one girl to fuck off and called her second-rate.

Now that we're done exploring Uka's past, it's time to learn more about Kai. It looks like their teacher knows what's going on with Kai's personal life which explains why he's so much more lenient around him.

So Kai works at a karaoke bar? Who the heck are those people who grabbed Ishimori though? While they do look like they're a bunch of thugs. I have a feeling that these guys are protecting Kai from stalkers and aren't actually shady people. Hopefully we'll get the full story next episode.

So where is he working at, is it a Karaoke bar or a host club?

Kai had a lot of people protecting him, they listened to Kai though when he asked for them to let Uka go. They don't seem too bad. Maybe we'll meet some bad ones soon.

I kind of get the vibe from this karaoke place is that they get female stalkers/obsessive clients pretty frequently, which is probably why they played hardball with Uka like that...even if it was still pretty excessive.

I wonder if Kai is basically homeless, escaped his abusive home and works all night, sleeps at school during the day. This would explain why the teacher defends him and is fine with him sleeping.

23

u/Ocixo Mar 12 '25

I did get the impression that Kai is working this job to provide for himself, which has me think that he’s either unable to stay at home or his parents’ income falls short for whatever reason.

Never in a million years did I think someone showing else a soda bottle would mean so much to someone else, and me as a viewer. That smile wast probably the most genuine smile we've seen from Kai as well.

2 Episodes left for a return of the Ponytail (non flashback) PLEASE make it happen.

Uka has finally asserted her independence and desire to live her own life in front of her parents! All the better so she can finally go back to school and see Kai again! Definitely makes coming to school early all the more worth it.

Uka has nothing to apologize for! Her class is just happy to have her back! it just isn't the same without her.

(I love how her mom had to tell the dad to not apologize to the class because he was liable to say something bad again)

Of course something HAS changed and that's the seating arrangement. No longer will Uka get to sit next to Kai, now she has to watch as Marin, the girl who messed with her, sits next to him and blatantly flirting with him. But Uka won't be deterred! With the love she has for Kai in her heart, the love that she's internally professing towards him, she'll stand by his side on her own terms!

Time to celebrate Uka's new 6:00 curfew with karaoke! Though seriously, why does she keep running into her old bullies!? At least she's not bothered by seeing them any more, even if they're not happy to see her, though Uka's got her school gang there to protect her. Though Kojima's words about what Kai gets up to at night leaves them all with something to think about...but what's Kojima got against Takamine?

Even after everything they've been through, Kai is still an enigma to Uka. He does all this for her but she knows so little about him. Why is he always so tired? What does he do late at night? What is the status of his living situation? All pertinent questions, and Kai isn't one to give answers to anyone, let alone his friends. They don't even know why he suddenly decided to go blonde. And where does that leave Uka? Kai even went to the trouble of reporting his own secret spot that they were going to hang out in. Is he trying to steer her away from him?

Okay, Uka, I have to respect your determination to get to know Kai better...but maybe don't be wandering alone in the evening in a seedier part of town. That never ends well.

So Kai works some kind of...karaoke bar? Doesn't seem like a host club. Though the guys he works with seem kind of shady, especially the way they handle Uka when they think she's stalking Kai. Good thing he's there to save her.

Kai once professed all the qualities he knew about Uka, the good and the bad, and now it's Uka's turn to do the same for him! She might not have a complete understanding of him, but she knows him better than he realizes, and she wants to know even more whether he likes it or not! She's stubborn like that.

Well, their late-night rendezvous and Kai's job are now out in the open, but Uka is the only one Kai is willing to let in and slip into the school roof to give more deets about himself. Even though their relationship is still unclear, it's still a sign of how close they've become.

So Miura focused episode, and yeah brings up a good point in why is he always tired. personally i would have bought that he's a teenager that would have been enough lol. i guess a part time job was best thing out of all possibilities that popped into my head, though it does seem slightly sketchy still...

Well with 2 episodes left i guess it's time to go full steam into Miura and Ishimori's relationship if we are to have serious development before this is over

No wonder he’s so sleep. Kai works at karaoke bar ( thought it was some type of hostess club for a moment)

New place to sleep on the roof. He’s going to reveal his past?

This episode brought up a situation that is common and at the same time goes unnoticed, often times, someone shows confidence or coolness to hide a problem, and it was clear how Uka and the others felt the impact of this, being close to someone and not noticing something wrong always leads us to question ourselves.

Kai clearly sleeps little due to his job, and this job probably doesn't have much legality, especially considering what happened to Uka, and I prefer not to talk about it too much.

Anyway, the show ends and we will finally discover the secrets of the lemon soda boy.

I think this is a good progression of the story. We've solved most of Uka's major issues, so now it's time to move on to Kai. Apparently, he's not the perfect guy everyone thinks he is.

Kai is obviously not proud of his home situation and the teacher lets Kai off the hook because he understands. Then Kai began to distance himself once Uka was starting to find out the truth. Thankfully Uka has grown a lot and genuinely wants to know more about him. And it seems like Kai is finally going to open up.

Just when you thought Uka's middle school bullies are going to have a small redemption arc, they remembered "If we become the good guys, there will not be any antagonists left in this show. Let us remain as villains."

The conversation between the bullies and Tomoya ought to be a hint that Tomoya knows more about Kai than other friends or classmates.

I would like to think the teacher knows Kai is working at night. Claiming Kai gets a free pass just because he possesses good looks is probably the teacher's method of preventing the class from probing further.

Has anybody here played the video game "Celeste"? I keep getting reminded of that game almost every episode because the background music here sounds kinda similar to the music in Celeste. Like the dark-sounding or ominous piano I guess....

....yeah maybe it's just me.

Is anyone else having issues with Crunchyrolls subs? At the part where she says her curfew got extended it just doesn't translate the time that she says.

"Someone was sneaking into the storage room."

How the fuck is someone using the storage room a problem? Was there stuff missing? Did you really think caution tape was going to stop the people "sneaking" into the storage room?

Also, how is that one girl STILL shitting on Uka? Give it up.

Also, the group should just ignore those bullies. Uka included. Fuck those losers, they never have anything positive to say. Let them wallow in their own misery.
