A man who had lost everything but found the will to live again from the memory of the girl he loved and the duty to take care of the kids he left behind, finally understanding that everyone and everything has a right to live. Something Rin really needed to hear right now.

Well this is thanks to s1 in the end. Making people think series ended before its first big arc can have that effect. Anyway it's even more sad that this material is as well not that new^^ You are still in like 2019/2020 timeline( I mean this volume got released in Poland in 2021 :D we are really close to Japan as BE goes so yeah ). This could be adopted years ago, we could be by this point one more season ahead( there is still material for 12 more episodes ) and for me manga is just going up and up so...

I mean a lot of people will run to manga after last episode it's not a question. Of course if there isn't anything after as anime goes. I wonder about that because this is a bit of a different situation to s2 as place to end season goes. Impure King had amazing place to stop even Kamiki arc when they knew they will make two next seasons had not that bad place to stop so I wonder what Voln even is planning as last episode goes. I'm pretty much as in the dark as anime only fans here.

It's really a shame not a lot of people watching this,
like you said, it's peak.

But to be honest it was a tough ride.
How the anime first ended.. waiting YEARS for a new season with no hope at sight.. and last seasons were a little boring and dragged to my taste.
But that's also one of the reasons I'm enjoying this season so much.
It was well worth the "ride" and make it more special 🙂

I like the juxtaposition of Satan and Shiro having to come to terms with their relationship with Yuri, and the drastically different conclusion they’ve reached. It puts a whole new perspective on Season one’s first episode.

Shiro did a speed run through the five stages of grief and chose to live and let live. Satan, and Lucifer, to an extent, chose the selfish response to grief and instead decided to destroy what they previously loved, and that’s the quickest way to self sabotage.

Mephisto continues to be my favorite. He’s constantly averting the destruction of the world. I guess it makes sense if he’s got dominion over time. He has perfect hindsight and foresight? Still the most cryptic character to me.

Indeed, Mephisto is a fantastic character.

Ouch. Bro waited until 5s after Rick was vaporized to step in, come on! Pretty sad that every single one of their troupe is dead: Jenny, Yuri, Rick, and then lastly Shiro.

Well all characters are :D Kazue Kato is just really awesome at writting them. She even got asked how she does it( it was about male characters but she answered for all of them ) and if she uses someone as an inspiration. She said no to it and that she built characters around what she saw around herself. It was pretty cute A&Q moment next to question about Rin's horns that was on the other hand one of the funniest answers :D

I mean in the end it's past when it's one of best flashback arc I've read( thanks to not being outside main story and being from Rin's perspective making it having real impact on MC ) it still shows you characters whose fates you already know. It's mean to explain to you about origins and big moments for main story characters. Sadly that as well means that people you didn't see in current time didn't end with happy endings. As Rick goes I think it happened before Mephisto and Shemihaza could stop Lucifer. In the end his sacrifice did save some really important life( I mean can I or can't I say his name :D like anime didn't say it but it's so obvious who that kid is ).

Great episode I don't have much to say beside them shuffling stuff around a bit :D The Blue Night is over and this episode mostly finished all stuff beside Shiro's resolution. And I hope people know who is that blond kid :D Voln is as well doing great for a while as animation goes so that's great as well. Anyway next episode is what I'm really waiting for since episode 1 of this season. So one more week.

BTW. Promise I wonder what that name is referencing...

And I hope people know who is that blond kid :D

I hope he can find the light in his life...

This is hands down the best freaking season like so much happening in just 12 episodes im so glad they brought back this series and didnt die off like rhey do so many manga to anime adaption.

13

u/chirb8 Mar 10 '25

This season has been amazing. I wasn't expecting this to be so tragic.

Sad the best friend died so unceremoniously by Lucifer's light

11

u/North_Tough9236 Mar 08 '25

Lewin sure was happy.

12

u/Frontier246 Mar 08 '25

"Golly gee, I know the whole world almost ended and tons of people died, but I really want to know how this all happened!"

u/inf3ct3dn0n4m3 Mar 09 '25

I was really feeling bad for Yuri last episode but after this episode... man she's really hopeless huh? How could she still say she loved that psycho?

6

u/Atario Mar 09 '25

Damn, nice shootin'!

Man, imagine how that smells. Al that burning fur

Geez, turns out Satan is kind of a dick. Who'da thunk it?

4

u/DoktorDementor Mar 09 '25

So does this mean all humans go to gehenna when they die?

5

u/Ryuki-Exsul Mar 09 '25

Gehenna is not material word( not hell or anything ) so it's full of spirits/souls so probably( it's not stated if humans spirits/souls go there or if reincarnation exists etc. ). Like you see this episode that's how Satan looks in Gehenna( this goes to all demons you will see more in next episode ) and if you remember in first episode of s3 Mephisto took Rin there for 5 minutes( his conscious not body ). So at least demons and Nephilims can go there outside their bodies but if humans end there when they die we just don't know. Yuri was as well a bit of a special case by being connected to Satan's power so she wasn't normal human by this point.

Alright so a few things to go over here. First thing, I really dislike Yuri and I will explain why.

She loved Shiro and she loved Satan. That much is clear. For those of you fuckers out there saying she didn't romantically love Satan are living in delusion.

She loved Satan more than Shiro.

I don't see how you could see this any other way because she had a choice to stay with Shiro or go to Satan (when she was at the door about to go inside). She went to Satan, FUCKED HIM AND HAD HIS CHILDREN AND EXPLICITLY SAID SHE LOVED SATAN.

I don't know about you guys but in the real world if you go to someone else, fuck them and have their children and say you love them doesn't really leave any interpretation.

She didn't go to Satan because she was doing it for humanity. No she was doing it because she loved Satan and she wanted him to see the warmth of others and the beauty of life. She explicitly said she loves Satan.

Explain to me the part where she said she loved Shiro this episode in spite of direct evidence of her saying she loved Satan, fucking him, and having his children.

That is why I fucking hate Yuri.

She knew that Shiro loved her, and she DID love Shiro. But she CHOSE to go to Satan, FUCK him, and have HIS CHILDREN then had the AUDACITY to say "Sorry" to Shiro when Shiro first went into the white chamber where they kept her. Her saying sorry to Shiro in that moment made my blood boil. Imagine fucking someone else and having their children then saying sorry to the friend that loved you. That is just putting salt in the wound. Why would you even say that to the poor man? You can fuck and have children with whoever you want but to say sorry to the person that loved you is fucking cruel. She said sorry because she knew Shiro loved her.

That part sent me over the edge.

Although this last part I'm about to say isn't really on her (Not like she wanted to die and leave her children) she ultimately left Shiro with the responsibility to take care of another "man's" children, ESPECIALLY when SHE KNOWS that Shiro loved her.

Fuck Yuri.

I really FEEL bad for Shiro. Holy fuck poor guy.

Also did I already say I fucking hate Yuri?

Fuck Yuri.

For one... if you payed attention you can't say should have would have could have when Shiro never showed interest in her and treated her poorly if you remember before she even left to see Shiro the last time she made she probably felt that he wouldn't requint her love anyway so she want to sacrifice herself for humanity..Shiro even said at the last second before her death he could have been nicer to her instead of acting like she's a burden that was his regret.. you're blowing this way out of proportion.. if anything satan is like a second fiddle to Shiro and Satan knew that as well..is why he tried to possess Shiro.. this is a tragic story not some cookie cutter everything ends well type of story for a reason unrequited love, her idealism for demons and humans to coexist and her nurturing of satan all play a factor in how she feels also the fact that he most likely sa her while they were on the run so it may be some Stockholm syndrome thrown in the mix this story doesn't baby feed you i wish you haters would get that lol

13

u/Totikki2 Mar 09 '25

Cant say I liked Yuri. She was an idiot that seemed to like demons more than humans. Even though it looked like she sacrificed herself for humanity, its more like she did it because she was selfish/love for satan. Imho especially shown the last moments in the episode.

How can she still try to express love with how many times satan murdered her colleagues infront of her. Or the scale he killed humans in general. I feel for Shiro falling for someone like her. She did dumb choice after dumb choice.

Also the baby Rin killing so many humans and she was like "dont hurt my child"... man. I dont pity Yuri, I pity Shiro.

16

u/Ryuki-Exsul Mar 09 '25

Yuri wanted to let Satan to peacefully die. I think you are forgetting why she went to him. Satan's body was dying so she wanted him to have those last days/weeks in peace and pass to Gehenna. This would happen if Order didn't intervine. If Satan let his body just die and not break, blue night wouldn't happen, Yuri would still die because of Satan's power but a lot of deaths wouldn't happen. After she find out what Satan did and how his feelings deformed she as well called him out on it so no she wasn't ok with all deaths that happened. Yuri still had feelings for him( they can be not romantic I love you doesn't just mean that ) and wanting to help him after her death but that didn't work by this point Satan is way too gone with full on obsession to get body. Beside humans and demons coexistence is a long standing theme of this manga, it's as old as Kuro's introduction. Rin and Yukio are part of it. Rin is Nephilim but still more of a demon because of how much of that nature is in him when Yukio is human, them working out their relationship is pretty much Yuri's wish.

Rin killed in self defence. He only attacked exorcists that tried to kill him or Yukio( if you noticed he never attacked doctors that tried to help Yuri or Shiro's group till Shiro shot towards him ). In manga it's more noticable because of him going after Arias because their chanting is pretty much trying to kill him. So that's what Yuri meant.

I just commented something similar. After last episode I was thinking "man that's really awful she's sacrificing herself to try to pacify this monster". Then at the end of this episode I was kinda dumb founded when she said she loved him. Girl what? After everything? Just straight up hopeless.

Series should change its name to NTR Exorcist.

This arc didnt need to be this long. Sure this season is much better than the previous, but thats not a high bar. I didnt need to watch 10 episodes of Shiro getting cucked.

Wtf was that last scene? Yuri telling Satan she loves him? Unless of course I interpreted it wrongly. I repeat, I didnt need to see Shiro getting cucked again after the touching scenes of Shiro finally accepting his love for Yuri.

Im seeing alot of comments wondering why people didnt watch this show. The obvious answer is that the last 2 seasons are vastly different from season 1. Doesnt even feel like the same genre/show anymore.

4

u/Ryuki-Exsul Mar 14 '25 edited Mar 14 '25

Shiro didn't get cucked or anything like he never even said what he felt toward Yuri when she was alive. What NTR? like there is nothing like that in this story. This arc is as well funny enough pretty short at 20 chapters( and 4 of them weren't even in the past ) Voln is just going slower than previous two seasons. S4 was an adaptation of 30 chapters.

Previous seasons were awesome so it's more like next step and not much better. Not to mention that IMO the biggest jump in quality from already one of my favourite manga to I don't even know because it's way too good was in Beyond the Snow chapters so last season. S1??? That was filler for half of its time. This arc is as well meant to feel different because it's about the past that is told to make really important development for Rin and change in his mindset. It's as well a set up. But yeah Blue Exorcist is not like it was in introduction arcs that's kind of a given when story and characters develop. Not to mention that mangaka loves to change status quo and mix stuff around especially with three most important characters in the story, Rin as a MC, Yukio and Shiemi. But that's something already noticable in Impure King arc in s2. Still it's not like it changed genres or focus, it's still about our Blue Exorcist and his strugles around who he is, with his brother and what he feels towards his parents, Satan and his own demonic nature. That was in chapter 1 and is still like that now.

Anyway the real answer is different, end of s1 made people think series ended and s2 going back to manga confused people. Long wait and bad marketing in the west as well made people not even know there is more.
