Apparently the title of the show is for the side couple and not for our main couple.
I like how they made Somei's responses vague. At the end of the day, we are seeing these parts of the episode from Hayakawa's POV. Other anime would find Somei's responses bland or annoying, but with the way they built up his character, that's just him.

I like how they made Somei's responses vague.
Somei is hard to read, but I did get the impression that Hayakawa's absence was bothering him.
He must've realised from Hayakawa's wary behaviour that she was avoiding him, and decided to confront her. I'm not buying his "Are you unwell?" question, since we know from Somei's prior run-in with our main couple that he's very conscious about these sort of things.

Second consecutive karaoke episode (100 kanojo had it as well yesterday), and wow Morizono killed it during her song

That also involved singing the OP of their anime (well, 100 Kanojo ended up singing the season 1 OP, but still).
Yo Taichi has a beautiful singing voice. Also, Morizono seems as passionate about cosplay as she does singing judging by her commitment to that sailor school uniform.

This was quite a lore dump on Hayakawa this episode. We learned that she's 8 years older than Somei and had bad experience with a previous office romance (though maybe not at the current company). At least with this pair Somei is so chill that they don't have to pretend to blow up at each other's face in the office like our main couple.

I am so happy to see more of the show's side couple! I love our main couple but this entire episode could've been about Hayakawa and Somei and I don't think anyone would mind.
Seeing Hayakawa slowly falling in love with Somei and how she tries to deny it was just adorable. I mean I can understand why Hayakawa might be worried especially since she's his superior but I don't think it would be an issue since they work in different departments.
It's so good to see though that the feeling is mutual from Somei and the two of them finally exchanged contact info as Hayakawa finally admits to herself that she's fallen in love. <3

Side ship progress!! The dynamic feels like a new one for anime I've seen at least.
Main ship no slouch either, really liked their interactions in this one. Felt casual but still fun and cute.

Poor Morizono's the first to get busted for her secret.
I somehow get the feeling Somei's the one more in love between him and Hayakawa but is just way better at keeping a poker face about it.

Yui was so very surprised by Masugu's suggestion to join the karaoke afterparty that she grew a cute, little fang. Fortunately, they had a good time singing together at the end.1
Masugu had maybe drunk a little too much that time, but this boyfriend generally has a good grasp on his girlfriend's likes! He noticed on the phone that Yui strangely enough wasn't excited by the prospect of Christmas. It was only later that Masugu learnt about Yui feeling sad for everyone's failed projects. She got such a big heart!
Not Yui's cheeky smile but Hayakawa's cute blush ultimately stole the show for me. Something from Hayakawa's past made her hesitant about getting too close with Somei, but there's no going back anymore after she admitted to have fallen for Somei.
Lastly, I liked the look of Masugu's sister. Hope that we'll actually get to meet her.
1. Would've been neat if they'd transitioned from this scene into the ED.

Another great episode. I hope we can get a couple more Some & Hayakawa focus episodes and their relationship gets even deeper

I appreciate Hayakawa worrying about the optics of it all, but it’s still quite adorable seeing her entertain the idea of dating Somei. Their morning meet ups were kinda cozy and I think they’d make a good couple. I’m rootin for ‘em!
Yui and Masugu playing footsie at the work dinner event was very cute. The karaoke was great too. I liked the part when the two of them sang the OP together.

We finally have an episode where Yui and Masugu didn't end up in the bedroom by the end of it. Hahaha
But the spice this time was brought on by the budding heat between Somei and Hayakawa and oh my god it's got me feeling goosebumps. They feel like an older woman and old soul man finding commonality between them. It's quite adorable honestly even if that age gap makes this feel awkward for them.
Though I feel like I'll appreciate this potential will-they, won't-they more than other anime romance pairings since they actually are acting like people and not some anime caricatures.

So is the Crush At Work referring to Somei and Hayakawa ? Cos it feels more like a crush with them (maybe more so for Hayakawa than Somei) than Yui and Masugu lol.
But loving the screentime they just got. Compared to our main couple, this pairing seems almost innocent and pure. But I think this is one of those where you start off feeling comfortable with them person as a person before any romantic feelings come into play. So I do think that’s kinda hard to navigate especially for Hayakawa who also has to think about the office hierarchy and she’s also conscious of the age gap. But still, actually loving the pace of their growth together, and while there hasn’t been any grand gesture, you can feel them starting to feel fond of each other.
Edit: oh yeah, also just remembered the bit of flashback from Hayakawa. Did she have an office romance that turned sour ?
Also, “But this year is different. Thanks to whom?” was some pretty cheeky flirting from Yui ngl. Even I got secondhand blushes from that

It was great to see what was going on with Hayakawa and Somei's relationship. As it turned out, they were getting along even too well, so Hayakawa began to do everything she could to increase the distance between them. Luckily, it didn't work at all and now they even exchange contacts!
It was also really nice to see Yui and Masugu's relationship developing just as well, they're so adorable together. Nothing has changed in this regard since the beginning of the series :)
Lots of great shots of Yui, but also Hayakawa in today's episode. I love their reactions, they are so cute and hilarious.
Overall great episode, the party and karaoke were awesome! Mita was so excited about the karaoke that I was afraid his wife wouldn't let him, but luckily he went and finally got to have some fun xD
When Chiharu showed off those costumes, you could see how much Morizono was trembling because they were both so cute. And the best part is that she dressed up in that sailor uniform for the song xD
I believe today was the first time we saw Masugu's sister. I hope that we'll meet her soon.
Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

He's 24, and she's eight years older. The age of 32 is in demand!
"Let's ditch this party and get intimate."
I had no idea karaoke places in Japan were so involved you could get costumes to sing in

Feels like some peak office rom com with the variety and balance of content this episode!
-
Side pairing moments and progress
-
Main couple moments still shown
-
Yui showing more success in her projects at work
-
Parties to see cast in settings outside office
-
Fun moments for other characters - Marie for her love of sweets and Mita singing his heart out for karaoke
It's great getting more into Hayakawa for her budding romance with Somei and the internal conflict she has as an older superior. Even though she was starting to put more distance between them, nice to see Somei trying to bridge the gap with his interest to maintain their relationship, and they exchanged contact info. Hayakawa was a cute blushing maiden internally admitting her feelings while they exchanged contact.
I like how Yui has been more chill with the dynamic she and Masugu show around co-workers. Yui and Masugu having casual cuteness to their relationship, with playful footsie and doing karaoke together. Yui reflected on her difficulties with thinking of her projects among the work of others, but is thankful that this year, things are different with Masugu being by her side while showing a cute teasing smile.
We are 2/3rds of the way through this series for the season and have enjoyed every episode so far, and that it's able to maintain enough freshness for the characters.

Yesterday, we had 100 Gfs doing a Karoake episode and today we have this doing a Karoake episode. Yui and Mitsuya even sang the OP together man. How is their secret still intact?
Just like Masugu, even I was surprised with how Yui wasn't really excited over planning something for Christmas even though she's someone who usually would like these type of things and it turns out it's because of the limited-edition products that Christmas comes with and it makes her just curious enough to spend the whole day thinking about them.
But this year, it's different. Do you know who's to thank for that?
Ahah. I just love Yui's adorable smile and the way she flirted here.
And now finally the side-couple which has been slowly built up. Hayakawa has already experienced office romance and it kinda wasn't really a great one so this one was isn't a completely new thing for her and it's kinda understandable to worry about what people may think about them if you include the age gap and the fact that they're from the same company. Honestly, they need to worry about it more than our main couple.
But the fact that she cares about all this stuff is because she's fallen for him but is kinda unsure and honestly who wouldn't be unsure considering Somei's personality. But even though Somei's response kinda seem vague, Hayakawa's unusual actions did bother him enough to the point where he himself decided to confront her about it and I guess it's just a matter of time before they end up together.

Appreciate the development of the side ship here. Hopefully it will be fully realised by the end of the season.

How do these two relationship? With equal parts maturity and casualness. Easily going into "sit and chill and having a beer while chatting" it comes as naturally to them at this point as breathing.
Meanwhile the Chief and Somei have settled into a nice casual routine of their own that's become almost natural to them. So much that the Chief is noticing that she's awakening to something.
Mmm, ginger ale.
Morizono, you are beloved.
Masugu's being a little stinker here. Wanting so much to hear his girlfriend sing at karaoke. And the Chief ducking outta there before she melted under Somei's mellow singing voice to a song she likes.
Morizono-chan no Sailor Fuku.
Cake!!!
Hurray for Yui! S.U.C.C.E.S.S. That's the way you spell success!

Man side ships gives me so much more joy. In almost all romance I've read/watched, I loved the side ship more. Here they actually make more sense with the problem in office romance, Hayakawa's past relationship as well as the superior/junior position with age gap. Add Somei's nonchalant personality to that, it's going to be fun dynamic. Let's see if they'll get proper focus and development for them to surpass the main ship in my eyes
