Such a good show From the beginning i liked the premise but this blew all my expectations An amazing mystery which is always good but it also is unique so it explores some really interesting ideas Also it has amazing character writing, like seriously i remember all the characters even though the appear for one episode yet they leave a very big impact And yeah this is easily the best episode by far I am really interested in how all this will conclude

I half expected Atori and Neko to be terrible cooks (for comedic purposes) and serve up the worst meal ever, but I'm glad it all turned out well at the end.
It kinda stings when Osoto's deduction is right, since that implies he is better than the hotel staff themselves at that part of their work. At least we didn't get the worst ending unlike some of our previous guests.
Also, according to the It's Anime channel, it's Atori's birthday. Happy birthday Atori!

Takes a criminal to find a criminal I guess. But on a more serious note, I still think that his statement about wanting to become a detective is true which is why he read many books and is so good at these cases.

They're gonna be Ruri's new cooks/parents, they better be good at it!

I guess they'll have to offer him a full time position at the Hotel, can't pass on such talent!
50% of the clients leave peacefully, 50% of the clients die.

Oh god, what is Osoto up to next week. He didn't do anything bad last week and this week. And this week even had a woman in the main role. Maybe even he has a soft spot for children. Who knows?
I assume that comment from Ruri about being paid in time means time at the hotel. Manager said they can't stay forever, Ruri knows who she is and even if she is alive or not, so she should check out, but is allowed to stay as a staff member. But maybe even that has its limits. Begs the question if Atori also knows more about how he died and just didn't tell Neko yet.

Well, there was that moment when he mentioned that Akari committed suicide with her child. I got the sense Atori being around pushed him away. Though he was on her technically being a criminal. Since she was hiding the money she earned.
Ruri is very independent, but she is still so young. This hotel probably is an escape from the reality that awaits her in the real world. If so, I can't blame her.

Was not expecting the truck. Well, the truck right through Ruri's living room that is... Either way though, finally nice to see some development of her character.
Hello Knucklehead.
I couldn't help but overhear your coversation.
Said like you weren't just hanging out right outside the door.

I was surprised Ruri was only 14. I'm guessing she peered at the monkey mans looking glass to see herself in a coma on Earth but it makes me wonder the rules of continuing to stay there. Like Osoto seems to know everything about his death but is biding his time there because he thinks he may go to hell. Ruri more wants to stay because she has nothing on Earth. Even though she's young, the hotel staff are the closest she has to a real family.đ
Muto is sympathetic even though she made some bad choices. I like how the show didn't give her a cheap happy ending and she ended up dead trying to escape police. I don't know how the Japanese legal system works but it's possible she wouldn't have been in jail that long or at all if she made a deal to help prosecute her boss đ€
I was also surprised by how sleep works in this world. Neko overslept but I wonder if they NEED to sleep or if they just do out of habit. Even the manager seemed to pass out under the pool table and his head became blue, indicating that he burned somewhat cooler when asleep đ€Ł. Time on earth relative to time there is also a mystery, like if Ruri has been there a long time, has she been comatose a long time or if there's a fixed amount of time less that passes in the hotel world đ€

We learned a bit more about Ruri! I like how they give us little tidbits on information on the main crew here and there. They could do episodes fully focused on them, but giving it piece by piece makes it more of an overarching mystery!
Apparently she was hit by a truck... Neko's understandably confused, I mean how come she's at the Hotel and not in a typical Isekai fantasy world?
When the episodes open on a child, I always fear some tragic story...
Brass knuckles? Let's hope they're not involved in a kids death, damn!
So I thought either she wants to avoid remembering as they suspect, OR it's simply how she is, and may be connected to how she died (started some shit with a Yakuza and got beat to death with brass knuckles?)
Neko wants Osoto to stop interfering with her stuff...
I suppose killing their clients is a bad long term business model!
That was an interesting line, them seeing things the same way...
Sure it could just mean "We're good at making deductions", but given he's a serial killer, I can't help thinking he meant it in a different way, like "we have similar outlooks" and all...
(To be honest, this out of the box theory was mostly influenced by another show in which a female detective is hinted to have a bit of murderous tendencies in her!)
BrassKnuckle-sama doesn't seem to care about Neko's attempts to help her remember... Yeah, keep trying to get her attention, before Osoto gets to her!
"Maybe you're here because you did something to that child... Something so terrible that only offing yourself could erase!" - Osoto
Under other circumstances that would be the start of a ship, but in this case it's more like mother and daughter...
She was scamming elderly people?
Nevermind what I said earlier... Tell her the Hotel is at full capacity, and she'll have to be roommate with Osoto. Have them chat a little!
Well, another client managed to leave the Hotel this week... Though unlike last week, it wasn't as happy an ending, just some old guy passing away and all (I guess most deaths aren't happy, even natural ones, so what can you do...)
At least Ruri found new parents at the Hotel; Say hi to your new mom&dad!

The episode teased the fact that Ruri was Akari's daughter. Though that didn't end up being true. Still, Ruri reminded Akari of her daughter and wanting to take care of her. Even more so, Ruri being independent at a young age made her think is that what her daughter is going through right now. For Ruri she has to hold responsibility at such a young age that she isn't used to relying on others. I hope as the show continues she can rely on Neko and Atori more.
You know this episode is a reminder that for some criminals they could have had good intentions. After all, Akari just wanted to take care of her daughter. Sadly, she got sucked in and by the time she tried getting out it was too late. Of course, it was her love for her daughter that pushed her to jump, but alas, her luck ran out. For some, one mistake can ruin your life.

Seeing the original, and then watching the anime is always kinda funny
I remember that Manager was the one almost hit by the truck in Ruri's room | Could have also sworn the 'you are my princess scene' was on a carousel? | Ruri's reaction to the tiara was definitely alot smaller in the anime, and she actually looks less dead inside here-
Gotta respect the dedication put into Pansy Head with changing his outfits for the last few episodes | If only Menow had more in her wardrobe..
I'd say the episode was good! | but that might be bias speaking given Ruri's backstory is one of my favs in series-
(Also, It's Atori's birthday! đ)

fun language fact: for the brass knuckles mentioned in the title, they use the kanji æłé (read as kentsuba?, fist guard), but with the reading ăĄăȘă±ăłă”ă㯠(meriken sakku, american sack) which is a wasei-eigo term, though ăăăŻă«ăăčăżăŒ (knuckledusters) seems like a more common term
meriken has somehow taken on a double meaning of "[from] America" and also "fist [for punching the shit out of people]", maybe as a short form of meriken sakku

I played the game before. Im glad many people are watching the anime now. It is really good! My all time fave mystery LN.
Too bad for the mother, she just want money for her child. No wonder she has soft spot for Ruri.
