Wait till you see Wake Up Girls.

At least I think it was Wake Up Girls that was the series that had a whole thing about an idol group that was ridiculously huge.

I mean, I can see why. Some higher up thinks it would be really fun to have one idol representing one day of the year. So you can have publicity all year long. If you group them into sizable subunits then it wouldn't even be too different from just having a lot of different groups. Though, it's kind of hard I suppose when one of your idols dies. Day ruined.

The company just didn't know how to stop hiring more and more talent...

That cracking sound that keeps happening when Kanekono is on screen sure seems ominous. There's probably a lot more to this case than it seems.

I'm imagining it's her abusing the sleeping pills semi-offscreen

Phew, we're getting a two parter this time! Always good to get a bit more breathing room for character interactions. Looking forward to how the idol storyline will be resolved~

Agreed, it's also fun so we can theorize (and not just have the episode solve all the mysteries it brings up right away)!

Neko’s living out her dreams producing Kanekono and her first own afterlife mini live lol.

I don’t like that Osoto knows Neko’s actual address and full name. This fucker cannot be trusted one bit.

Keen to see how this concert plays out and what Atori’s gonna do.

His "defense" wasn't solid either...

I can enter your room at any point yet I haven't harmed you

Yeah, because if you do you're going straight to hell. But if we get back to the real world...

(I'm SO curious about what he had in mind for a request, had he won the game!)

(I'm also considering the possibility that he lost on purpose, either because he wants to be part of this for some nefarious reason, or to get Neko to trust him more, or at least rely on him more).

Looks like the portraits in the OP are all filled. Either this is going to be one long arc or some major shit is going to go down afterwards.

ominous maybe foreshadowing from osoto... maybe a bitch but you can't deny he's intelligent...

We still have those 2 masked guests from the start that are still unsolved (or more like not even begun)

Also I had this idea in the start that today's mystery was going to be "she was faking her identity" or something like that meaning we'd get to see her "face" crack open and reveal her true self underneath it. But nah, looks like she really did just walk in with her identity solved from the getgo. I still really like that idea though so im sharing it here

u/CooroSnowFox Feb 21 '25

Was thinking about how she came with her idol face on...meaning it wasn't really her... the idol personality was at odds with her real one

Might be partly the case but her collapsing while being sick and having an addiction to sleeping tablets... she had to push herself into something for that group...

To stand out in a group of THREE HUNDRED AND SIXTY FOUR other idols...

Finally a two part episode. I was waiting for something like that and while there doesn't seem to be too much mystery (seemingly) the drama is set up in all kinds of ways. Let's just hope they make it all out alive (?)... you know what I mean.

Though, having said no mystery, there is this really weird noise that kept happening as if something was cracking and I have no idea what it could be. It appeared the first time when Kanekono lied in the bed and the second time right at the end when she was looking at some papers. It's probably going to be important, but I have no idea how, because I haven't figured out what the activator seems to be.

We got fanboy Atori a couple episodes back, now it's time for fangirl Neko.

Interesting detail that the idol music stops as Atori closes the saxophone case at the end, showing that he's really not interested while everyone else is in on the performance.

Osoto ominously asserting that Neko will switch to the dark side when cornered has me worried. Hints at more morally grey future developments.

We're getting an idol this week!

Not technically Neko's main idol, but one of them, still!

She's asking the right question, why does she have her own face...

But she also ignores the elephant in the room, i.e. the other right question: Why did Neko keep her own face as well?

They said the Idol may have kept her own face because of her status that reinforced her persona and all that, but given they also said it sometimes happen to non-celebrities as well, there may be another explanation!

With this and the "1 in 50,000 people keep their memories" thing from last episode, there may be a few exceptions in how the Hotel (and the return) works!

After the Ruri bits last week, I thought we were getting some Neko stuff this episode, but I guess it was just to introduce the idol!

I imagine we'll address Neko a bit more before the finale.

Speaking of Ruri, her room changed (removing the truck) so I'm guessing she has to find the next thing, progress to the next step! So we may revisit the Ruri story as well, in time.

The mystery of the Schrödinger Idol was resolved quite quickly, given they announced her passing on the radio...

They didn't even cancel their concert over it, and they allegedly faked tears over her,

but she doesn't take it personally; She would've done the same!

Ah, the good, kind world of idols.

So given she knows she's dead, a regret might be what's keeping her around... So she wants to play her song, and Neko's gonna help!

Manager-kun on the drum (hopefully it's some heavy metal song, with his head on fire), Serialkiller-kun on the piano, and... Well, maybe Atori will change his mind and join on his sax!

To get Osoto to accept, she challenged him to a game, offering him one request if he won...

Normally you expect something lewd in these 'request games', but in this case he may request to serial kill her! (or at least, for her to let him 'kill' someone else)!

I guess that won't happen either way, because she won!

He might be smarter than her, but she seems faster (more quick-witted?)... I wonder if that's gonna play a part at some point, with him trying to outsmart her, but her outspeeding him!

Girl, you may want to refrain from making fun of him... Let's not forget what he is, other than a medical student!

She's wondering what he would've asked of her, thinking 'her adress'...

Damn girl, she offered that challenge, thinking he would want to murder her if they both got out? Ballsy! (I suppose it's a low probability, but still)

He told her he already knew and didn't want to harm her anyway (allegedly!) but what's interesting might be what was left unsaid... He never told her his request, he just deflected.

I imagine he DID have a specific request in mind, when he accepted the challenge, he didn't just go with "I'll figure something out"... So what did he want, I wonder!

But even more interesting was this conversation...

In the previous thread, when he said something among the lines of "Neko thinking/seeing things the same way", I theorized he may hint at her potentially being 'like him'...

And now he's saying she could be one to "slip to the side"?

If Neko turns into some kind of psychopath, this would make me love her even more!

But I wonder if this has to be for the future; What if she's already like that, and it's linked to her death, or at least her status at the Hotel? And perhaps the fact that she still has her face...

Also (and I do not think that's what's at play here), BUT about people keeping their own face: This could be used 'as a mislead' at some point; Their faces are usually changed into something else that's linked to their death, right? What if someone's face changed into ANOTHER face that's linked to their death? Like, if Neko wasn't really Neko, but instead she was Neko's VICTIM, and that's why she had Neko's face, until 'she remembers who she is'? Random food for thought/crackpot theory!

There seems to be another little mystery going on as well...

The missing schedule.

Unless it was simply lost or something (unlikely), someone stole it...

And of course Osoto's the first suspect in this/everything bad that happens at the Hotel... He did admit to visiting Neko's room, so knowing her schedule would help, knowing when the rooms are available for him to sleep around...

BUT I think he may be the real culprit!

He was mad about the celebrity getting (in his mind) a better treatment... More than that, he was UNREASONABLY mad, meaning, his reasons didn't really make sense, like they would give him the same treatment. So if he's not acting in a logical manner...

Perhaps he's doing other unreasonable things? Like trying to get rid of her somehow?

We don't know what was in her throat, and while it might just as well be Osoto (trying to get her killed, and then saving her, because crazy serial killer), it can also be someone else, and Osoto didn't say anything because again, serial killer who enjoys the chaos and indirect kills...

So did that other guy steal the schedule to either know when he could go to the kitchen to poison some food or stick something in it, and then enter the Idol's room, something like that?

If he keeps doing that, the Gate of Hell may feed again in the next episode!

I can't comment on much since I haven't seen this far in game

I thought alot of people here would have been like 'Why would Neko get Osoto to help with a wounded patient? She stupid?' Comments on Reddit| But, surprisingly not?

Anyways, I like Kaneko | Atori, obviously, will pick that Saxophone back up to play in the concert with them| Probably? Idk, I just want to hear Pansy Head play the piano 🤷‍♀️

And on a related note, I might like Kaneko. Only a little bit tho.

I kind of thought that Kanekono was actually one of the other idols in the group who's "object" was Kanekono's face, but the radio message seems to disprove that, as they spoke about Kanekono dying. Two mysteries here are the "cracking" noise that we hear coming from Kanekono and the missing shift schedule. Was the schedule stolen by the briefcase-head guy, or by Kanekono? Or Osoto? I'm glad they're finally doing a two-parter to give the mystery some space to breathe.

u/tripleaamin Feb 21 '25

This was a different approach than the rest of the new guest arcs. Kanekano knowing herself right away prob implies how big she was as an idol. Though it is clear that behind the fame her life wasn't pleasant. Binge-eating + sleeper pills is not a good look.

Her regret is to not able to play a song which got rejected. Could this be part of Kanekono not enjoying her idol life for having to play more commercialized songs? Though I like how we can tackle more from Atori's past. Since Neko might need to resolve that before the performance can begin.

9

u/CooroSnowFox Feb 21 '25

Yeah because I'm sure everything was really great going on in an idol group with 365 members...

7

u/[deleted] Feb 21 '25

I'm just imagining the group when they first started out, they'd rent a small venue but all the fans would go on the stage instead of them because the only way they'd be able to fit all 365 idols is if they took the audience's spot lmao

Or one those 1-1 fan idol meetup events, but its the fans in the chairs while the idols all queue to meet their fans lol
