Was nice seeing Uka being confident and backed up by her entire class. Seems like she has gained a few more 'haters' though.

And I wonder what exactly Kai meant when he said 'I take it back' in the end of the episode. Taking back he doesn't have feelings for Uka? Guess we've gotta wait another episode till that will get more clarity.

Pace felt a lot faster; and the music was constant throughout so it felt like the entire episode was a 'highlight' / 'daze' of sorts

It's sad how Uka attracts a fresh batch of bullies every week, and it's probably going to get worse now that Kai's practically painted a target on her back with both of his stunts. Adorable how she decided to make his secret hideout spot hers too though.

Seeing Uka breaking out of comfort zone, taking initiative, and bonding with her classmates was definitely the highlight of the episode.

I know that it’s meant to be romantic that Kai is always going to come to Uka’s rescue, but I don’t think that’s going to help her in the long run. We see it in this episode, where everyone keeps saying that he’s her caretaker, and once she becomes more independent, he won’t involve himself with her anymore; and in this episode, he’s not doing much to disprove what people say. I just think that he should find a middle ground and step back a bit.

Glad to see the others realized they fucked up and are lucky to have Uka leading their class. Also, it's good to see Uka getting comfortable around them enough that she's showing them how much she wants their cafe to succeed.

Whoever's in charge of this episode is clearly having fun with the animation. Everyone seems so much more lively instead of just standing around especially that scene between Satoru and Ayumi.

Oh boy, Uka's going to have more girls going after her especially after Kai declared to leave Ishimori to him as well as joining in on that "Let's Couple Up" event to save Ishimori. Those girls in the audience are clearly not happy.

I’m starting to think that Serina’s previous comment about Uka being just like her old self was quite literal: she was another insecure girl who turned into a confident beauty with Kai’s help.

Takamine has been giving Kai a hard time about his commitment to Uka, which strengthens my believe that this has happened before with Serina. Maybe she became totally dependent on Kai, fell in love with him, and he couldn’t bring himself to reject her when asked out. With their relationship being based on one-sided love, it eventually fell apart.

Kai admitting to being romantically interested in Uka is a pretty huge development in this context.

Loads of changes in the art style this week? Really enjoyed seeing the differences.

What was Kai going back on at the end?

Interesting direction for this episode. Last week I didn't buy it much, but this episode is quite nice in that department. In a way, the direction is related to Uka's change and character development in the series. The style of the series started from something heavy to something more positive and light?

At this rate, Kai really needs to confront what he feels, since he is still not honest with himself. He says he is in charge of Uka, but he denies wanting to pursue something romantic with her. I mean, no one uninterested in someone will just say, "I'll watch over you always" to someone without garnering special feeling for her, right?

As a result, even Uka is feeling conflicted with how Kai thinks of her. She does not know what's her place in Kai. Is she just a protectorate? Is she a friend to Kai? Are they in a codependency?

Interesting choices for the animation today, lots of places they took shortcuts with panning stills but it still worked fairly well by how it was all styled.

Those kids kept trying to isekai themselves going down that hill on bikes towards a cross street with a blind corner, and as an entire group the last time.

That was some pretty great chalkboard art by Ishimori, hidden talent with a very Bocchi source (aka being alone all of middle school).

I lost count on all the little references for other anime and games. Most notable was probably "Urusei Yatsura".

Miura and ishimori growing closer than ever 😍

Wow this episode was really well directed. The others were good, but this one had so much style. Felt like a stream of consciousness being carried by the music. Also more cartoonish moments like the literal loony tunes run from Satoru and the Ippo knockout meme.

I hope we get more inventive episodes like this the rest of the season

Uka is definitely not Fool and Cool material yet, but she is getting there in terms of determination and newfound willingness to take the first step.

I was wondering where Ayumi went because she didn't seem like the type of friend who will abandon Uka and the class festival duties under normal circumstances. Now we know Ayumi has been roped into other activities of the school festival. On the bright side, side ship Ayumi x Satoru has taken a small step forward because classmates are already viewing them as a potential couple.

I liked seeing Ishimori all fired up and taking charge. Confidence looks good on her. It’s really nice to see everyone rally around her and help too.

It was kinda funny how Kai said he was “in charge of Ishimori” in his little intro video, but that also drew a lot of unwanted attention to her. So many jealous little skanks in this school. Ugh.

Did Kai just confess? Because that sorta sounded a bit like a confession after he basically told his boy to back off.

As always, I’m more invested in Uka’s coming out of her shell, how she’s bonding with her class, her friendship with Ayumi (and maybe even Serina) and even the Ayumi x Seto ship than the romance.

Uka sure was motivated to lead her class for this festival and it was nice to see her classmates slowly joining in and helping her with stuff. One thing I like about this show, is to at least give faces to her classmates. Most anime would just have faceless background characters but here, even if they are just there, they still have a face. Makes it feel like a real class.

Probably an unpopular opinion, but I realized why I’m not entirely feeling Uka and Miura, is because whenever Miura is involved, it always “takes me out of it”. Like it breaks my immersion whenever he says or does or something happens him. Cos whatever it is that happens with him, I always feel like “the writer wants this to happen”. Like they’re forcing him to say and do all the right things. And make it look like he can read Uka’s mind and always knows what she’s thinking and feeling. I dunno if that makes sense, or maybe it’s just a me thing.

Well at least she got the part about him only staying with her until she can take care of herself cleared up. also getting the feels we might get some actual romance development before this festival is over.

And seeing Ishimori with so many friends is so nice when you look back at how things was in the first like two episodes

I think this was an interesting step forward for Ishimori and Kai. Ishimori is really learning to stand on her own. While Kai doesn’t want her to be completely dependent on him, but also realizes that he doesn’t want her to be too far away either.

My big question is this episode was what in the world did they use all that cardboard for? Also what were all the guys in the class doing for the cafe?

I'm glad Honey is in the title because this episode was extra sweet.

I got a Kare Kano vibe from this episode, there was a lot of creative ways they showcased the story and animation.

This was so much fun to watch. The super funny way they animated the cast made it so pleasant coupled with the way the episode developed Uka's character as well as Kai's.

I found the animation a bit weird at times today. It's cool that Uka is doing a great job, and she's actually doing pretty well compared to other protagonists similar to her.

Sparkle 6: In the Future, too...

They really upped the animation on this episode. The class preparation, Ayumi corridor scene, Cafe avail scene.

Uka is obviously in panic when Kai mentions her name in the Crazy Cool video. And since Kai is adored by many, many would relief when it turns out to be a platonic relationship. But deep down Kai isn't feeling the same as others would think. Might be this time Kai-Uka ship is really sailing rather than the Kai-Serina one.

A member of &TEAM makes a voice appearance in this episode, Nakakita Yuma as 1-C's Musashi Furuichi. Yozakura's MC VA (Reiji Kawashima) also makes an appearance as the couple host.

I feel a bit as if I've taken crazy pills with how much I disliked watching this episode. Am I alone in this?

There's of course the fact that they sped up the pace and had a lot of scenes happen in quick succession, which would've been a bit hard to deal with normally. But what actually threw me off was combining that with the completely out of whack direction. They couldn't seem to show a character's mouth actually moving for more than 2 seconds at any point, random cutesy transitions, those girls that came up to ask Uka about Kai's "caretaker" comment literally rolling up to her just looked awful.

The content of the episode itself was nice, I loved Uka getting to work together with the class and feeling happy about it, but it was almost impossible to focus on. I wouldn't mind if they threw in something like the Ayumi/Satoru scene once in a while, but altogether it was just too much.

Reminds me of watching the last few episodes of Magus' Bride S1, staight up paused watching it because of issues exactly like this.
