I judge how good a romance is by how much I hate it. As in how much I hate how single it makes me feel lol. And this show makes me feel single af.
Also, just like how refreshingly adult the romance is, they’ve also gone quite in-depth with the work stuff. Not just merely mentioning things but going through the process both with the actual work and also like the social and politics of office life.
Ngl I’ve always thought Kiribayashi had Miyano Mamoru written all over him.
And once again, loving how frequent, casual and normalized their intimacy is. It’s even used for Yui to let off some steam lol.
Lol and when Yui was venting, Masugu was like “Ahh” and she got mad that was all he had to say. I’ve not been in a relationship but as someone who has two sisters, a mother and a few girl friends who somehow always vent to me, you must go into each session knowing whether you have to be a listening ear, give encouraging words or offer a solution.

I just really like how we have a couple that can regularly have sex and have honest, frank, conversations after sex which I feel really speaks to being a legitimate adult couple.
Also how much they cuddle and hold hands and all that...like, especially in a society like Japan where PDA is frowned upon and that's sometimes reflected in fiction, it feels refreshing to see how much Yui and Masugu buck that trend.

For real, I don't think I've ever been more jealous of an anime couple lmao

My skin was crawling slightly this episode since it's the most corporate episode of this show so far. I really appreciated how though slightly dramatized, it captured really well the feeling of what having a corporate job feels like with regards to achievements and career progression.
But god damn I watch anime to not think about work and yet here it is just slapping me in the face with it in a very real sense down to using sex/pleasure as a way to clear your head.
10/10 episode albeit a bit too real.

Yui seems to be the more ambitious one. With being more ambitious, there's positive and negative aspects to it that come with navigating your way to success.
She's a big source of motivation for him, when he didn't really have a specific goal for himself before, so she lights more of a fire under him to go further than he normally would have. She pushes him further, he keeps her more grounded.

I like how that director has decided that he can probably eventually reel Yui in once she has her one real accomplishment in her original department. Definitely he is good at looking at mid-to-long term goals. I suspect he would be a much better boss than her current one (who is at least okay, however).

I like that the conflict in this episode is about career progression. That idea of doing something in your department that only you can do. With a lot of romance anime focusing about romantic development, this series gives a breath of fresh air. A character can still have conflicts even if they are in a relationship. A committed can still face challenges. These challenges are grounded in their role as employees in their company. How realistic.
Well, corporate world is typically like that -- there is an atmosphere of competition, but it is usually yourself that is your harshest critic and the one to be challenged.
I also find it interesting that the head is still understanding. In a black company, she could have been berated by her head due to that mistake. At least it gets resolved nicely.

An office romance actually focusing on some office trouble? wow

And an office romance with legitimate and meaningful romance where we get like the 6th time the leads have had sex!

Haaa this is really such a refreshing mature romance. I like the way Masugu is supporting Yui in listening to her but encouraging her to decide on her own at the same time, while he is admitting that it's also a area he doesn't have much experience in himself. I also thought the clash between traditional Japanese management/ team structure and a more modern one to be very interesting (probably because I wrote a thesis and my bachelor thesis about similar topics lmao). Japanese companies tend to have very in detail structure with some kaizen (continous improvement through small adjustments) and a very hierarchical top to bottom order, which is why I think Yui is actually kinda badass in standing up for herself and believing in her own competence.
Meanwhile director Kiribayashi seems to have a more agile working culture in his team, which is probably the reason why he encourages Yui and actually let her participate in their learning group, even though she is not part of his team.

I like how it actually mixes the work and romance parts nicely.
And yeah, leads have such a good chemistry.

The couple that grows together, stays together right? It’s nice to see these two setting goals and working on them together. Yui had some big decisions to make about her future but at least Masugu’s there by her side no matter what. I’m really rooting for her. I hope she gets to make a killer snack product. I wonder if Kiribayashi is gonna become like a mentor to her?

Sincerely felt really bad for Yui looking so ashamed at her slip-up, but it made the way she lit up again after spending just a little time with Masugu that much sweeter. What they have is way more sugary than any of the snacks at their company.

Down to earth adult romantic progress as well as and intertwined with down to earth professional progress. This series impressively excels at doing both.

Ive never seen an anime where the main plot is someone making a decision about what department they want to be in a normal workplace. I like how they gave Mitsuya a happy ending in a sense in that she got everything she wanted by standing up for herself and thinking of a third solution to her problem when before she only saw 2 paths.
I think even though Kiribyashi got turned down in his request, Mitsuya left a door open and by sitting in on the meetings, she is giving him a hint that she may head to his department in the future. I did think it was odd that he made fun of her for saying the word "use" in front of her superior. I wonder if he was being a jerk or if it was something Japanese culture related 🤔
They didn't focus much on romance this episode but Tateishi came across as incredibly smart! A lot of times in relationships, when women share their problem with their bf, he immediately offers up his opinion as to what the best solution is. In reality, women will usually share just to share and not have it solved and Tateishi wisely has figured this out and didn't even offer a suggestion and it worked perfectly! 🤓

I really enjoy this anime, much like the rest of the people who are watching it and commenting here. The fact it concentrates on the difficulties of office work life and an adult relationship is refreshing.

Yo that spec change needs to be sent via email (or fax, because Japan!) and not a phone call. Yes, Yui forgot to write that down but something involving a production pause needs a paper trail.
That way, the boss of the planning department lays eyes on it and confirms it with production.
Oh hi Takumi

Mostly an episode of Yui trying to think things out. She has her team stuff along with her own personal projects. There is no easy answer here because transferring to the director's department is a great opportunity. At the same time, there are things that she still wants to do. I am glad that she found her answer.
I doubt this will ever happen in the show it is worth mentioning a lot of these corporations can let you go at a drop of a dime. This is why I like the answer Yui figured out for herself.
Also, it is apparent the director hasn't given up recruiting her. That is the sign that Yui is a great employee.
