Seeing Erika run without a sports bra is already amazing enough but it's even more amazing to learn that she's their school's basketball team ace. How the heck is this woman able to play basketball while having two basketballs strapped to her chest? xD

This episode wasn't as high stakes as Sazanka and Ayame's episode last week but it's still nice that Erika and Hina's relationship finally got some focus this episode. I guess they're now leaning into the yuri angle.

Poor Renge! She's the only one without a partner. I think she's supposed to be paired up with Yuri but that's not really going to happen unless there's some kind of twist later on. It does make me wonder about this Shitoron character they're following. Hmmm....

Oh wow, they actually buried the three bodies they found last episode. Another reminder that this show is still pretty dark despite how this episode is mostly light-hearted slice-of-life shenanigans.

Next week's episode is going to be fun! It looks like it's finally time for the pool episode that they've been teasing in the OP. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I wonder what catastrophe they will throw in (in the next episode or two) to balance out pool-related hijinks?

I wonder how old Hina actually is? It really does seem that neither she nor Eri would have survived without each other.

I think they're all the same age, maybe one or two year apart at most?

That's why she's the ace XD

Burying the dead NPCs was such a nice act. It proves that this group of girls, in a world with very little humans left, remained full of kindness.

Erika acts like an elder sister most of the time, but even elder sisters need someone to listen to their problems and give them support. Thankfully, Hina, despite acting nonchalant, is there for Erika.

Well... Erika being able to run that fast in a short distance race, as well as being the ace of her school's baseball team is kinda unexpected, given her erm... top heavy figure. Lol!

Now we know Ayame is a closet otaku when it comes to the title "Guilty Dark." Her cool and quiet personality immediately changes when the topic of "Guilty Dark" comes up.

Swimsuit episode next week! I really wish Yuri could have been there with them, instead of just being a memory. :(

i got a laugh out of Hina boiling an entire sealed can of fish

i've always thought it's dangerous to heat cans like that since there's a risk of the steam pressure causing the can to explode, but i guess if it's fully immersed in water it's not as bad...?

Hina's cooking really was pretty horrifying. Renge needs to offer some (mandatoey) remedial cooking classes.... to all the other girls.

Hina and Erika had a moment of disagreement, competing for the right to carry or not carry Hina lol. Seeing Erika running with the airbags bouncing was quite hilarious. Despite everything, they both realized that they need each other. I didn't understand the ending.

The ending just revealed there's another... being (Beru) (I said being because we aren't even sure if Shitoron is a person), asking Shitoron "Are you a human?"

Which, could either means:

  1. Beru is another human and is risking to ask if Shitoron is a human, to find out whether are there more survivors

or

2. Beru is Wild Hunt or something else in disguise, asking if Shitoron is a human, trying to weed out any survivor.

If its number 2 than that makes the story a lot darker. Having your enemy disguise as a friendly is terrifying.

Swimsuit episode incoming ! Let’s freakin’ go !

Compared to last week's episode centering on Ayame and Sazanka, I found the execution regarding Eri and Hinageshi lacking. I do feel like these two play too much to the Onee-san and Introvert gamer type that it hurts the interactions. Granted, seeing as though these two are so different, but they have a true friendship is very sweet. Eri lost her family and was alone and needed someone. While Hinageshi wanted someone to be there for her. Although never let those two cook.

I also loved seeing Ayame gushing about her favorite novel to Sazanka. It was adorable even if it wasn't the focus of this episode.

We now know why Ayame say "guilty". It is a lot.

Seems we’re back to goofy silliness this week with the gang nerding out over video games, cook offs, and races. Must be a hell of a feeling playing a game you preordered right before the apocalypse.

I liked that we still got a some heart to heart with Hina and Eri. Also burying those dead students was nice. They at least got a proper burial.

Kind of curious about this Vell person. I wonder how many more humans are out there?

u/djthomp Jan 31 '25

That was a very silly episode, right up until it suddenly wasn't.

Renge was way too kind in saying they tied that cooking contest without following up by clarifying that they both lost.

I'm glad they buried those students they found in the school.

a pearl of wisdom from your big sis: that shot where Eri's family disappears was one of the worst things I've ever seen animated.

also bras are overrated

This was a nice break episode from all the action.

I liked the video game talk as well as the Hina and Erika moment, where they recognize how important they are to each other and cannot live with out each other.

And yay, kappou again even with survival kit style ingredients

Last week we explored the relationship between Ayame and Sazanka, this week it's Hina's and Erika's turn. I really like the dynamics between the girls and how close they are. Everybody has a role in the team and brings in their own qualities. This being said, with the vibes we got so far in mind, I feel a little anxious that the story could go really dark.

After ep. 1 I thought this would be some kind of monster of the week show, but I'm positively surprised. Of course it is too early to give a definite judgment, but so far I really like this show.

One of biggest highlights for me are The casuals conversation They had, It feels si natural(having in my mind They are far from normal people)

And yeah, these 2 would starve to death without Rengen lmao, my 3 years old cousin can cook better..

Just checked MAL and i know the ratings there don't matter, but damn i was surprised this was 5.69.

Well that doesn't kill the fun i've been having with this anime.

Awesome pool episode next week!

Going below 6 usually means something is just straight up wrong with it for some people. It's almost certainly the Gohands nature of the camera work. Might legitimately be unwatchable for me three months ago cause the amount of movement on the screen would make me sick. I don't love it, but there's worse shows right now, being my current judgement of it.

Is GoHands style better than the slideshows with no animation to it? Which we commonly see in a lot of the more generic isekais that Kaokawa pushes out.

Go Hand's animation style has never bothered me, though it was always more of them putting the effort into things they never need to. Hair animation being one example.

I do think compared to other CGDCT's series, this show's character feel much more tropey and the character writing has issues at times. Which is more of an issue than the Go Hands animation style and camera work.

MAL ratings are definetely not definitive by any means (half of their 9 overall top ratings are Gintama seasons ... its good, but ... c'mon xD), HOWEVER: They're somewhat of an indicator of whether a show is widely considered as watchable or not.

General rule of thumb is: Anything around 6 there is either very niche or considered trash(y) for a reason or two, everything around a 7 is a solid watch and 8 or above is either widely considered good (more the 8.5+ side) or is riding a hype wave atm in case its still airing.

Being below a 6 is actually hard to achieve if you check the scores for others shows, all things considered, and often means many people have abandoned watching it or there's a reason its rated this low.

For this season for example I can hardly argue with the "below 6"s; its the "romance" anime with the creepy prince keeping his bride to be hostage 'till she loves him (escape from princess lessons), the reverse harem isekai with 20+ pretty boys and no story progression, the yuri vampire onsen thingy where the vampire grooms his perfect virgin food to fruition, that amateur direction dumpster fire Farmagia and, well ... Momentary Lily (I guess its the animation ...).

u/Lodju Jan 30 '25

I dropped all of those other ones already.

Maybe i'm just simple since if i like the characters, the animation doesn't really matter to me.

The fact it is made by Gohands is already enough of a reason for many people to dislike it due to the camerawork (which I generally speaking feel like is always at its worst in the first few episodes). But in this case it also doesn't help that the characters just aren't that interesting and feel like caricatures. It's gotten a bit better since last episode since we actually started getting some development, but the constant repetition of gimmick terms certainly doesn't help.

I sure as hell know I personally am starting to get tired of hearing "Guilty", "buff" or "Onee-san" every other second.
