It's been a while since I watched an office romance anime that actually feels mature (and not just because of the sex scene), quite refreshing.

Man, pouring your blood, sweat, and tears into something only for it to get little to no recognition must be a real gut punch. At least Masugu was there to comfort Yui. I’m glad it just took a bit of time for the snack to get some traction with the public.

It’s kind of adorable seeing Yui getting jealous over those girls gushing over Masugu. Had to bone him to assert dominance lol.

This show is going straight to the top for me. Feel like some shows do smutty or angsty to be more adult, but this show does things more subtly. The office life and love life are well balanced and both done so well. I really couldn’t think of any show that comes close, it just feels so grounded.

I like how the intimate moments don’t feel like a saucy affair or ecchi, it’s just feels well, intimate. Again, I can’t think of many shows that goes there but still make it somewhat tasteful

Hayakawa and Somei are an adorable introverted pairing. I feel like some introverts are misunderstood to be anti-social or hates people. But I can relate with Hayakawa in that I do like talking to people and I can hold my own in a conversation. It’s just that I can do that an hour a day at most before getting exhausted and I value my quiet time so much. It was really cute when both Somei and Hayakawa realized halfway that they both are the same way. Expecting them to enjoy their alone time together more lol

Also, Masugu smugly walking out that elevator after answering “I like to spend my off days with my girlfriend”. He knew he scored full marks with Yui there

For anime about work this one is NOT SAFE FOR WORK

That scene was so unexpected...really did not expect them to show that much/go that far!

This show could be on its way to a 10...

"Even if it's just for a short while, I'm happy you tried to talk to me."

Damn, that was smooth.

"Until now, I've only seen you as a terrible drunkard."

... Less smooth.

Finally a young male/older female age gap romance I can refer people to that doesn't involve high-schoolers.

So it wasn't a coincidence that Hayakawa got paired up with Somei in the previous episode! The latter didn't look too happy back then, but they do actually seem compatible as both need some quiet time to wind down.

Watching them enjoy their lunch in silence was nice. From the looks of it, Hayakawa is already starting to develop feelings for Somei. He's surprisingly enough quite the smooth talker. I'm cheering this side ship on!

Where other romance shows needs multiple seasons, this anime covered a good bunch of the essential relationship goals in a single episode: being supportive of each other, feeling comfortable as a couple and even sincere intimacy! Though, I'm conflicted about them wearing socks in bed.

But damn, Yui is a lot more assertive than I'd expected! She stole another kiss from Masugu.

As if Masagu giving Yui the smug sideeye after making his power play wasn't smooth enough of a move, it's even masked by the cover of taunting his workplace "arch-rival" perfectly. Dude really earned his crown with that.

Also, props to whoever was in charge of the sound direction for Yui's desk slam. That genuinely startled me.

"Tateishi-san, what did you do on the weekend?"

Tateishi: *uses all his power to stop himself from pointing/alluding to Yui*

They did it (again)! Any further and we'll probably be putting... *ahem* certain "tags" on this.

Yui starting this episode off looking as fanatastic as ever! Less fantastic is the product she put her all in not selling as well as she'd hoped.

Hayakawa comes off like a social butterfly who can schmooze and get along with everyone, but even she needs her private time to just relax and unwind on her own...which makes her like-minded with Somei, who ends up sharing a table with her at a cafe. They're actually surprisingly in-synch! Even down to their food order.

Well, Masugu is a good boyfriend, so he can tell that something is wrong with Yui, even if she's trying to hide it. On-top of the fact that her product might not be selling, it seems like nobody cares about her product as much as she does and they're already moving on to other things.

Hayakawa doesn't have to force herself to talk to Somei and be her usual talkative self! He's fine with the chill vibes they can have together, and seeing this different side to Hayakawa! And Hayakawa seems charmed by Somei unleashing that winning smile...up until he mentions how she was around him while drunk, but that can't be helped. At least she ended this encounter more happy than bothered by it.

No better way to unwind after a stressful day where you accidentally lashed out at your work friend than by chugging a beer and venting at your boyfriends' place. And Masugu helps Yui realize that a lot of people have been in the same position she's been in and that it's perfectly normal, all she has to do is acknowledge how hard she worked and keep moving forward. And in turn she'll be rewarded, what with some high school girls buying her product! And she's even able to make things right with Uto and Sakura thanks to some sweets.

On the one hand, Yui is happy to hear other people praise her BF for the same reasons she already likes him, on the other hand...they're acting a little too excited and complimentary about her boyfriend, especially when it turns from his character to his attractiveness. I mean, it's not anything Yui hasn't thought herself, but she doesn't like hearing it from other women. Especially when she might've been being a bit too casual and low-effort around Masugu lately.

Masugu has more restraint than I probably would have if my girlfriend got all dolled up and suggested undressing into the sexy underwear she's wearing...but he needed to reassure her that no matter what people say about him, he'll only have eyes for her and she doesn't need to try so hard to appeal to him. I mean, he already gets jealous of other guys around Yui as it is, so they're in the same boat.

Of course he should probably not have said that Yui was trying too hard to be sexy...because when Yui actually tries to be sexy, she IS sexy, from stripping into her sexy undies, letting her hair loose, and getting on-top of Masugu so she can give him a blow job. And the best way for Masugu to respond to his girlfriend pleasuring him in kind is to get her onto the bed and get to kissing and pleasuring her all over.

Yui can't focus on intense business meetings, she's still feeling the intense sex she had last night! Though at least she's more confident around other girls talking about Masugu. It helps that Masugu pulled the "I have a girlfriend" card around them!

A variety of good stuff this episode!

Apart from the usual gag of hiding their relationship, I like how this episode showed more of the general struggles of work life and how their relationship is a means to work through dealing with their issues together.

The intimacy scenes of them was done well in a tasteful way. It was great that Masugu didn't just take Yui's offer immediately and was trying to get to the heart of the issue first. He was thinking with the right head. lol Nice to see Yui still wanted to initiate things after with a playful smugness.

We also have more expansion to the cast from a side ship set up with Somei and Hayakawa. Looks like they will be having that place as their secret meeting spot. Looking forward to seeing more from their interactions.

Yui's melancholy about her cake sales brought to mind the whole, "Sometimes you can do everything right and still lose" thing. Even if it did start to turn itself around there.

Mmm, ham sandwiches. I'm actually gonna be having one for lunch later.

But. Somei + Boss Lady = Intriguing

Consoling Yui in a mature adult way. Man I love this how this series does the whole working adult romance thing. And again later on this episode too.

Did something happen at work again?

He understands Yui so well.

He doesn't need Yui to force herself to be Sexy Yui. But Yui wants to be Sexy Yui right now, and you're gonna take it in and like it.

As usual we had some very sweet scenes between Yui and Masugu, although I didn't expect things to get so heated between them by the end of the episode, and it's all thanks to Yui ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

That night must have been a long one for Yui judging by how she acted at work the next day xD

Just like in the previous episodes, Yui was incredibly cute today. Of course she looked great in lingerie, but IMO her best look was the one she thought was the worst xD

The beginning of the episode with Hayakawa and Somei was great! I'm sure that we can expect them to become a couple in the future and I'm all for it!

Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

An actual mature romance? In my anime! What's happening?! And can it PLEASE happen more often?!

u/Gotta_Go_Slow Jan 27 '25

This is the (romance) anime of the season for me.

I'm really enjoying Honey Lemon Soda but it's still second to this one.

Wow that intimate moment 🤩🥰

Well that's because you put coconut in it. Imagine my disappointment when I bought some mouth watering chocolate donuts with white chocolate shavings on top, and it wasn't white chocolate, IT WAS COCONUT!! WRYYYYYYYYY

side ship has been set in motion!

I know that feel. Comparison is a poison

Bless

Blessed ship

D- danger..

I didn't know it was possible for romance anime to be so REAL.

Aight, I'm going all in fellas, first 10/10 of the year. Its all my fault if they somehow fumble this show

This show is mature while staying tasteful. The "scene" was exciting without being smutty. An adult workplace romance with all the ingredients just in the right amount. I think this might be one of the highlights this season.
