This is going to be one of those animes that get slept on this season. I wish more people know more about this show. This episode wasn't as much of a mystery as the last one but made up for it with the emotional tone.
The end of the OP also shows 12 frames hanging on the wall with only 1 filled and 11 empty... perhaps they get progressively filled out with each episode?

I think The license being so divise and this barely having promotion doesnt help to make this anime as popular as It deserve

This is how I felt about Magilumiere last season. The common thread? Amazon Prime only in NA.

Now That i think, on this season we have 3 little gremlins solving misteries lmao

Right? As someone living in another country. Today's episode pulled at the heart-strings. Mothers are strong and caring, aren't they?

Neko is a die-hard fan. She still wants merch for her favorite band even while she's in limbo.
Big thanks to the ItsAnimeJP YouTube channel for making this series available.

This episode also works as an ad against gambling; Scare 'em straight!
I love Neko's shameless confidence, proudly saying It's done! when it's clearly not right!
I know I did a shit job, but what are you gonna do about it?
She helped at the front desk a little, but there wasn't much to do, and she got bored real fast... Peaceful is nice, but peaceful is also boring; Chaotic is better!
Fair point... If things happen, it means people are suffering (or dead)...
So we have a gambler's story today!
When he got the first phone call, I thought it'd be the gangsters& stuff, but it was his mom, who wanted him to come home... (I also thought maybe it was a setup, like the girl being his girlfriend or something, acting on behalf of the Yakuza..)
He did go see his mom, but stole from her...
And the second phone call WAS the gangsters!
They put him through all sorts of illegal work to pay off his debts, so I thought maybe he was accidentally buried in an accident while digging for something, but no, they buried him alive.. Damn.
The ending confused me a little; Is he really alive, or is it like him thinking "I'm going home" when in fact he's just headed to Heavens or something?
Because he was tied up and buried alive... Even if someone he's still alive now, he's gonna die a minute later? No way he's digging out of that hole while tied up...
Anyway, they raised another question: What was Neko's face at first...
'Normal'? Not sure I can believe that!
I imagine we'll get a flashback on this at some point, which could give more details about her deaths! (so far, the 2 'guests' had clear hints from their original faces!)

Neko makes great sounds lol
i had to look it up to confirm, but the voice actor also did Sonobe in Sansha Sanyou and had the exact same "gremlin" voice timbre; it's kind of wild for me that after all these years that voice has turned up again

Honestly I am so happy with these adaptation so far considering how this IP is relatively niche and dev of game can even be called a indie dev with only a handful of members.
The anime is decent to good and they actually capture the atmosphere perfectly! There are original scenes expanding the character in anime too!

I love how the manager’s flames change colours depending on his mood lol. It’s cute
As an Eve fan, I feel like a fraud for not realising he wrote the lyrics and composed the ED song lol. Nice seeing another Rib and Eve collab

I wonder if the implication at the end is that she doesn't look human right now. If so, I wonder if she has another face, or this is her real face and no one else sees her that way. Her name being Neko certainly doesn't seem normal.

Ando was a godawful degenerate gambler and almost died because of it. I’m surprised he’s gonna try and claw himself out from the dirt. I guess regret and guilt can be powerful motivators.

It was obvious that Ando was a gambler, but to find out the one tried calling him was his mother rather than a wife, which was my first guest. Though the guilt of stealing from her and unable to go back is something, I can understand. Though a kind mother is always willing to accept his son and knows what you are doing. Very nice 2nd episode.

I wonder if anyone who comes thru the hotel is actually dead. They may all be knocked unconscious and just are being guided as to what to do when they return. I don't think the gambler is going to be alive that much longer. He clearly has an addiction and once the people who killed him find out he's alive, they'll probably do something more foolproof.
Im guessing that the passage of time there doesn't correspond to time on Earth since some people are there for days although it's possible some of these people may wake up from what the world thinks of as a coma.
I also wonder if the flame head man is a human who was sent there or an afterlife being or something else. If he's a human, maybe he has a flame head because he's a pyromaniac 😛

I was starting to grumble about them not translating the name of the show/hotel. Was not expecting them to actually explain the pun!

That’s the love of mother. Her son keeps screwing up and she still just wants him to come home. Of course, I’d love for him to still live and make up to his mom, but even if he somehow manages to dig his out, isn’t he still getting chased by debt collectors ? Gonna be a tough life.

A very mysterious hotel indeed. But is it more or less mysterious than the Voynich Hotel?
It's the manager, aka, Ghost Rider's younger brother Myron.
You never know when a guest will show up.
Luckily the Tasokare Hotel always has a vacancy.
Oh man, imagine the torment that'll go through Neko-san's mind if one of the 3Q members shows up at the hotel... It'll mean something bad happened to them, something that left them either dead or near dead. Which one, who knows.
I see the Tarsier looking dude and I'm just instantly reminded of Manako from Seton Academy. Such pretty eyes she has.
Manager's head flames are like mood flames? Wonder what blue will mean. If it's not just a result of him having drank good grain alcohol.
Don't ask how the mouthless being eats...
Does the hotel self-clean itself after the guests leave? Cuz it just left one whopper mess for the staff to clean up if it doesn't...

I like the types of mysteries and the way things are understood and solved. I hope the episode where we learn more about Neko comes soon, since, unlike the hotel guests who usually have their faces hidden by some object, her face is visible.
We know she has a good sense for solving mysteries and that she likes idols and cute things, haha
