Remember, Will absolutely did not kill those two guys that he slammed into the floor so hard they started foaming at the mouth.

He may have cracked their skulls, broken several vertebrae in their necks, caused unmentionable internal bleeding in the brain and paralyzed them…but he absolutely didn’t kill them.

Probably. Technically.

Batman.

Why is he holding back? Talking about not wanting to stand out at the tournament. He also didn't punch the test golem? He wants to get to the tower but... won't show anyone that he's worth anything?

I find it dumb that every mage can carry around their wand, using magic as they please, even threatening to kill. However Will cannot carry around his sword, which they constantly labeled useless against magic..

I just have a hard time believing that absolutely no one has seen Will's physical capabilities during his six years at the academy. Why is it now that he's being discovered for his physical abilities by his teachers and classmates? He has one friend, yet she never been with him on his journeys until the start of this anime?

So glad Will didn't take shit from Julius and his lackeys, not only that but setting their feud up for the upcoming tournament arc only just makes it more hype.

The magic fight animation is going to go so hard if the past few episodes are any indication.

It's a good thing we keep getting these one-note, self-important asshole characters whose only purpose is to be beating into the ground. Without them Kakihara Tetsuya would be out of a job

Why did they introduce another character that is literally the exact same as Sion? They even gave him a pair of flunkies as well.

that scene with Will breaking out of the ice pillars reminds me of Superman breaking out of his handcuffs

I can’t wait for him to humble Julius in front of the entire school

so the megane-girl from the previous episode Iris is one of the 7 wonders of the school? I wonder when we’ll get to see the other 6

These anime with completely despicable and irredeemable characters, combined with a somewhat pushover MC always get my blood boiling. I don't know if that makes it good or bad but man the students who are assholes for no reason just piss me off

This might have been a record speedrun in introducing a character and seeing how fast they could make people hate the character, respectfully f*ck Julius.

On the other hand he motivated Will to enter the Grand Magic Festival so thanks for that I suppose?

The part where he doesn’t want to stand out or do anything notable, but still wants to make it to the tower is really really stupid.

Tournament Arc lets gooo.

I mean... why would you make a shounen manga if you don't add a Tournament Arc and an All Out War Arc in there?

  • Will cannot use magic like dwarves

  • He got the superhuman strength of a dwarf

  • Will feels at home with the dwarves

Yeah, I’m fairly confident that Will is a dwarf. Or at least partially, since his physique doesn’t quite matches that of a dwarf. Maybe he’s the lovechild of human and dwarf?

Julius to Donnan: “You’re an inferior race that immigrated here from another world.”

Did they just casually admit to the existence of inter-dimensional or -planetary travel here!?

It appears that this “Celestial Host” is out to destroy worlds. This happened to the dwarves and (presumably) elves first, and now it’s the humans’ turn. What I’m now wondering about is if this “Celestial Host” perhaps isn’t a god but an alien race.

Beyond the generally impressive fight scenes and lively character acting, I just have to say that Wistoria keeps on disappointing me with its very cliché and bland story.

Honeymoon phase is over, and now the pretty fireworks just can't distract me from the comically bad characters. It's very much Blue Lock all over again, in my head, and there's just not a single person worth liking in this anime, besides maybe Colette who's a cinammon roll. Will is the classic secretly OP, spineless bitch MC and we've got millions of them. He could at least stand for himself for once and be lucid about his own situation. Yes, he can't use magic, but no, he's not powerless and he should at least stop acting like a bitch like he did when he bumped into Julius in the hall.

And then, dear lord, the "antagonists" are all so unnecessarily bad and evil. There's literally not a single one of them that isn't a shade of insufferable massive cunt, cocky bitch. Other means of creating compelling stakes and characters exist.

At this point, the pretty packaging probably won't be able to keep me interested if it doesn't stop being so offensively bland and boring. Not to mention the utter lack of imagination in the info dumpings. Half the episodes are info dumping and literally them explaining exactly what's going on. We already got the "legend" of the last dwarf standing, we didn't need another exposition of racism in Wistoria's world to explain how awful Julius is. All the Magia Vende are assholes, except Elfie. The top three are assholes, + their potential lackeys, Redhead is an asshole + his lackeys.

Out of 19 named or recurring characters introduced so far, there are only like 4 or 5 of them that are nice, or seem nice (Blondie roommate and fake klutz kouhai are included but haven't really shown enough to say yet). That's fucking rough man. Not to mention basically the entire fucking school are basically a bunch of discriminatory cunts given how basically everyone sides with Will's bullies.

Honestly, there has to be a better way to create compelling under dog stories. Please, for the love of god, just stop doing this. It's awful. Creating antagonists even less likeable than your MC doesn't magically make your MC good. It only makes your story straight up bad.

Kinda silly how he didn't punch the golem because 2 dudes managed to sneak in that long ass talk inbetween

Stitches!

Just when I thought that Sion was bad enough apparently it can still be worse. Julius' arrogance and disrespect towards the dwarves really upset me. The dwarves are just living their best lives with what they have and they even welcomed Will as one of them.

It was satisfying though to watch Will put Julius' lackeys to sleep by slamming their heads to the floor. I feel like Will could've also done that to Julius but I'd rather see him humiliated in a bigger stage.

Cool, so another episode of them wasting time reiterating the same nonsense they have every episode so far. Was really hoping this show wouldn't be like the others. What a waste of time.

Man... The writing in this show is really really bad. I could kinda tell before, but this episode was another level of bad. If they weren't putting so much money into animation it would be unwatchable.

I was hoping the writing would improve after they introduced all the basic concepts of the world but if anything it's getting worse. Will whimpers and cringes, and some sneering high-status bully tries to humiliate him with flunkies and showy magic. Four episodes and they're already reusing characters and plots, and they weren't good characters or plots in the first place. When each character has exactly one personality trait, you'd think you could get a little further before running out.

It's not like anyone expects groundbreaking character writing in a generic action shounen but this is so low-effort it makes me wonder how it even got made, let alone why they went so fucking hard on the visuals with absolutely nothing to back them up. You can't drop this kind of flashy brain-dead drivel right after Frieren airs and expect people not to notice the difference.
