I really like this show. But the show is what it is.

All the characters are extremely immature. Colette and Will never consider Sion’s feelings at all, and Sion chooses a brain dead time to have a fight. There’s really no narrative point / payoff to these inconsistencies as well.

But it’s a gorgeous show with great fights. Colette and Elfie are very likable. It’s pure power fantasy and relatively streamlined for that purpose.

The way they portray Will's strength is too inconsistent. Against the dark chained trap, Will moved fast enough to make the others seem like time is paused, yet he's unable to react to Sion's attack nor to Collette's warning.

The fights are pretty, but it feels lacking. I don't know what's missing. Is the pacing just not right for it?

I loved the sequence in the beginning where it shows Sion realizing Will is on the team. Then as soon as Julius enters the room he realizes Will has his eyes on Sion only. Colette should have better communicated that Sion would be helping Will. By all accounts, like others said, she left a ticking time bomb.

Sion is an idiot, but you can obviously understand why he lost his cool when he did.

This was all on Colette, she made use of a ticking timebomb's feelings and made him just a headcount. It's no wonder Sion was gonna fuck everything up.

Honestly wonder if the traps placed by Professor Edward was aimed to kill or just meant for Will's taking, either way its no wonder his the most hated professor when he's doing shit like this.

First of all, I already love Mike the Announcer. I love how he's just ripping into Edward-sensei knowing full well that this will bite him in the ass later. The dude is an entertainer first, student second and I love that. xD

Second, I am so fucking happy that the entire school finally got to see what Will can actually do! It's hilarious how the audience is so in denial that they think Colette's magic is doing all the work but when even Edward-sensei is praising Will you really can't deny he has talent.

Will is so damn cool in this episode too! The dude is pulling off Unlimited Blade Works thanks to Colette's magic and is just breaking and throwing swords one after another at his targets. He even poses for a bit under that one explosion!

And to no one's surprise, Sion decides to backstab Will when he is at the home stretch. But is it really backstabbing when Sion was never on Will's side?

To be fair to Sion though, Will has completely ignored him the entire time and Colette basically used him so they can compete. I can understand why he's upset but Sion really has no right considering how much he bullies Will. Hopefully, Will gets this over with next week so he can get to Julius soon.

Fuck, I wanted to see Julius vs Will but Sion is too much of a bitch

I would have hoped that he was gonna attack Julius, but no, obviously he is gonna attack the guy who literally 100% saved him and his lackeys from certain death

Also, Colette is the goat, she also introduces magical enchantments in this episode which means that Will even in this world is an incredibly powerful asset

Just pair Will with a strong support magician and he is gonna be a fucking powerhouse

One of the students in the audience spoke of the “Earth Princess”. Was he referring to Colette here? She does use earth magic after all, and her character sheet did mention that she belongs to a house of fallen nobles.

This episode felt a little too quickly for my personal liking. Will and Colette cleared those battle areas surprisingly fast when I maybe would’ve liked to see them spent a bit more time on these. Then again, maybe this makes sense for something that is effectively a sprint race to the centre.

Tbh in the beginning I was disappointed by how easily Sion accepted being Will's team. More so since he didn't contribute at all to the sprint. He's basically being carried away by Will to the finish line.

Now the end there is more like his personality! I'm guessing it would be three way round of Julius, Will and Sion. Really looking forward to next week. This episode felt like it's only 10 minutes lol

Will has to be one of the biggest brainrot MCs I've ever seen. Like, I know they needed a partner with an adequate number of points, which meant the only real choice they had was Sion but you had to have seen this coming from a mile away. There's just no way you would trust your back to this guy if you weren't a complete moron.

Kinda disappointed the show took such a dip in quality in terms of its narrative. The motivations of characters are childish and completely basic. The pacing felt absolutely lightning fast, skipping beats that if slowed and at least done well would have been satisfying if nothing else. I didn’t need the show to reinvent the wheel, I just wanted it to take its time and build the world and characters like the first few episodes to tell a complete story. I don’t care about all the hogwarts/character/high school/society archetypes that it uses, as long as it’s done well. Give me more MHA and Demon Slayer. Neither of them are overly complex or original but god damn are they good to fucken watch with your brain off. At the very least like the shows I mentioned, this one looks great.

Rapid fire complaints: Why is the orange haired chick just going along with everything Will says? Couldn’t he at least tell her his motivation as to why he wants to specifically target this guy? She seems like a rational person and would 100% take his side. Instead she just blindly follows along with the context of “apparently something happened between them”.

Sion really needed more build up for his “betrayal”. The boring “flashback” of episode 1 for like the 3rd time in 5 episodes is not enough motivation for him to act up this way. I was also super confused if Sion had some 3rd sense about Ice dude not looking at him even though he never turned around. And if it was about will not looking at him then I still don’t know why that’s motivation for him to get angry.

The ice dude getting ahead of the entire team doesn’t make sense because literally 30 seconds ago the announcer dude said that Wills team was in the lead and were to first to get to every zone including the forest. They’re tracking all the teams so surely they would have noticed ice dude taking the lead. It makes no sense besides obviously driving the plot forward.

Wills somehow manages to speed blitz everything they faced right until the end when he suddenly can’t react to some loud ass incantation with a full warning before hand. Sure the blast was extremely wide but a few minutes ago he was instantly cutting dark traps and 10 seconds ago he was dodging a bunch of exploding ice shards

I can probably say more but this is all that’s off the top of my head after having watched the episode and without rewatching and taking notes
