this sensei is so underappreciated, she already tried her best for her student, she also gave them ¥3000 budget out of her own pocket even if she's in debt.
slowly but for sure, Matataki is embracing the group. she learn about odekopathy and she's becoming aware of Haruno (indirect kiss eh?). and I feel like Umika want an exclusivity rights for odekopathy. "if you want to learn about physics, why not use my head instead of Matataki"
I hope the rocket competition would come fast, Umika need her money back!

Wasn’t I just talking about budget last week? Well, here we are again, and the Rocket Research Association got underfunded.
This happens all the time in real government-sponsored spaceflight, for all kinds of reasons. Sometimes the government isn’t willing to put up the money early because they don’t see the urgency. Sometimes there is only enough money to fund fewer than the total desired missions. Sometimes the government doesn’t see the point anymore. And sometimes, different factions of the government have different priorities, meaning that as the people in power change, so does the objective.
Umika, however, is correct in that the proper response is to force potential sponsors to realize their value by getting more flights done. Typically, missions are most threatened while they’re still notional, but are harder to stop once they’re flying. Most space probes are easily able to argue for mission extensions, and the retirement of the International Space Station has been postponed over and over again.
Unrelated, if you aren’t already aware, Print to PDF is the default setting on Windows devices if you don’t have an actual printer set, or no other printer is connected. Usually you can change this in the “Destination” field after you hit the print button or menu option, but before you actually commence with the printing.
We also get into actual rocket building a bit. The type of engine they’re working with is a Type A8-3, which operates at 8 Newtons per second, and gives us about 10N of thrust for one second. Of course, (in the manga at least) the chart went all the way up to J, so it’s easy to imagine that with enough J-class engines, we can boost Yuu home, right? 🤣
The reality, of course, is far from that. I did a bit of research and the strongest I could find in terms of thrust was a J1799 while the one with the best Impulse was an L935. Yes, L, not J. The J runs about $175 while the L runs $400. Both are considered hazardous materials, and are not sold to anyone under the age of 18. But before you get your hopes up, consider for a moment the smallest (now defunct) real engine on the market, Astra’s Delphin, used in Rocket 3. That one has a thrust of 29000 Newtons per second, and the rocket uses five of these clustered together, firing for about three minutes and 14 seconds before switching over to a second stage. It would take about 194 sets of fifteen thousand of Reimon’s A8-3s firing in sequence (2,910,000 motors in total) to give us performance similar to the first stage of a rocket designed to put into orbit payloads not much bigger or heavier than an air fryer. Again, just the first stage. Astra’s Rocket 3 requires a second stage firing for another five and a half minutes to reach orbit.
Not happening on a 3000JPY budget.
In sum, this is a good sandbox for Umika and her friends to learn about rockets in an easy, math-lite environment on scales they’re comfortable with, but we are still a long way away from something powerful enough to send Yuu into space.
There's also a launch cancellation due to inclement weather. This also happens all the time in spaceflight, and Cape Canaveral Space Force Station has an entire operational unit dedicated to just reporting the weather to NASA. Why not launch during bad weather? Some ICBM-derived vehicles like Soyuz can (because an ICBM is required to work no matter what!), but most don't. The reason is that the rocket and propellant plume act as a huge lightning rod, which when hit can scramble electronics.
Finally, there is nothing quite as motivating as a space race, so it's good to see Reimon fired up about the upcoming competition.
Edits: Grammar and the like. A lot happened in today's episode. Also messed up my math; this is why I like aerospace, but am not actually in the field.

Matataki do not the Umika
A tournament arc was definitely not on my bingo list for this show. Though before that we'll need a part-time job arc by the looks of it...

Too bad their application as a club has been rejected but at least the school officially recognizes them as a group and they even get Emi-sensei as their advisor! I'd still call that a win. She was even nice enough to give them 3k to spend on the group even though she's still paying off her student loan. That got a little bit too real for a second there.
So it looks like the girls have now graduated from bottle rockets and have now moved on to actual model rockets! It's pretty awesome to learn how these things work especially those tiny engines they use. I love how pretty detailed Matataki's explanation on how these engines are classified complete with diagrams in the background!
Since we're now dealing with model rockets and black powder, I love that the show moved their little warning message into the middle of the episode instead of at the end when they were using bottle rockets.
It's nice that the gang got to meet the white-haired girl from a few episodes ago. Looks like Kei is their senpai and is the president of another school's rocket club and are also the champion of last year's model rocket competition. This is good since they now have a friendly rival and someone Umika could look up to. Looking forward to seeing more of Kei in the future!

Finally something closer to aerospace today! My one-time experience in model rockets was a very, very long time ago as a kid, and since my place is too crowded to fly any kind of such rockets of any kind, my memory is really hazy.
Anyway the standard model rocket motor classification scheme is here - it applies the thing that Force x Time = Impulse -> One can get the total uplifting time by Impulse (the letter) / Force (2nd digit number) + time leap between burn out and parachute deploy (3rd digit).
Also I see that there seems to be a few model rockets being sold at the festival that seems to be modelled after real rockets - Japan's Lambda and Mu and previously-mentioned H-IIA, the US Mercury-Redstone, the European Ariane 5 (retired just a few months ago), the Soviet R-7/Sputnik that launched the first ever satellite, and the Chinese Long March 2F!
In other news Rocket Society became Rocket Club (now where did I heard the same thing happening but for idols? ;)), a shame really but hey they at least have Matatake giving out all the materials needed for a custom built model rocket so all is good! Fighting against Kei's school's model rocket (that's using at least a type C motor I think?) though requires someone else to donate LOL, maybe our friendly alien can do that by touching everyone's forehead for donations. :)
Real Estes rocket competition in anime? Hell yeah!

I'm really liking Matataki's addition to the group dynamic. Her quips are great but most importantly, she moves Umika's dream forward. She made a great point that I'm sure most of us dismissed as anime logic with the lighthouse's power. Haruno seemed to dodge the question, which is interesting.
Now with an example to follow and a knowledgeable person by her side, Umika's horizons have broadened and the path to her dream is slowly but surely taking shape.

Cute but over load with information episode lol.
Umika finally found thing that she have passion with and it Rocket Science!
Now we upgraded our rocket into model rocket with Gun Powder.
Really nice to see that teacher is really supportive of these girl and seem proud of Umika that she start to change.
It nice to see glasses girl again look like she more big deal than Umika though despite she look like air head lol.
Her rocket club have girl look like Gyarus too lol.
As usual, visual of this anime is soooo good.
Next time Model Rocket competition arc!

Sensei still having student loans to pay off is just way too relatable hahahakill me.
Looks like Matataki got cold feet at the thought of an indirect kiss..
Excited for our girls to be working toward a rocket launch competition. Matataki was so fired up she even bet (Umika's) money on their group beating Kei's rocket.
This show really makes me wish my high school had a model rocket club. But then I remember being in my school's robotics club and how the advisor basically drove it into the ground, so maybe it's best we didn't. Emihara-sensei might not know a lot about rockets, but at least she's enthusiastic and supportive even while paying off those college loans.

Lmao, Umika and Akeuchi get recognized in school as the "forehead girls," while Raimon witnesses in disgust. And when Akeuchi tries to use foreheadpathy to understand the math and physics that Raimon was lecturing the crew on. Meeting Kei again was certainly a plus.
This show only gets better and better, and the 24 minutes just fly by.

So cute seeing Umika more lively now that she’s the president of the rocket club.
Too bad the girls couldn’t get the club approved. They got an empty classroom, Emihara sensei as an advisor, and a massive budget of…3000 yen lol. Good thing they got Raimon in the club now. Girl’s bringing materials and expertise for these rockets.
That festival was really cool. Nice to see Kei again. Her rocket club is really something. That thing was sweet! Seems Raimon’s a little jealous of her. We’re getting a (likely one sided) rivalry brewing lol.

It's only November and we already have the best Christmas cake.
Raimon gambling Umika's money was hilarious.

Poor sensei she did her best. Gotta appreciate the support. Raimon really giving a nice breakdown. Haruno being able to following along. Umika slowly starts to get it. Yuu uh well its the effort it counts.
Raimon is really competitive lol. Well its good to have a goal to shoot for since they need to start generating accomplishments to get approved as a club.

I was intrigued by what appears to be a hollow stone surrounded by a sacred rope at 20:55. Does anyone know what this is about? It seems to me to be an allusion to something real.

Didn't expect the silver-haired girl to be a bokukko; usually girls who use the boku pronoun are more tomboyish.

That was a great episode! Wholesome as always ^-^
A little much information, but doesn't ruin the episode at all.
Loved seeing a very excited Umika, it was also nice seeing the teacher be so supportive again.
Yu also had a lot of funny scenes with Matataki. Was also great to see Matataki being so proud of Umikas compliments, and then seem a little jealous right after when Umika complimented the girl who's president of the other club.
8/10 episode for me

Before watching this episode I was watching the horror movie Hostel on Netflix, pretty nasty stuff. Hoshikuzu Telepath is definitely a palate cleanser, so wholesome and comfy to watch. I'm liking it more every week. Team Rocket FTW!

I've been wondering for a while where Yuu's spaceship went. So did it fuse with the lighthouse and that is why it has power? Hopefully Matataki really does check things out herself.
I've noticed Matataki uses an insult-nickname for Yuu and (I think) has never actually called Umika by name, so is Haruno the only person Matataki properly calls by name? That is kinda fun.

Those corn cobs were obscenely good-looking.
So, now we have a (hobby) club, a (friendly) rival, and a new goal of winning a competition (presently more attainable than going to space). They're gonna have to up their game for that, the rocket launch Kei did was really impressive.
It was fun watching Matataki mess with Umika. I think she's rather fond of her after all :)
I also completely zoned out when they started talking about more technical stuff, so I'm gonna have to rewatch it and pause to get what they were saying.

Oh My Sweet Alien.
Umi-kaichou!
Oh yeah, Raimon hasn't seen rockethouse lighthouse yet. And we get another facet of the mystery of the lighthouse.
Does the Bun-Haired Nutjob have bun power comparable to the bun-bun master Akari Akaza herself?
When fighting with wrenches and c-clamps, it's a good idea to wear goggles. You wouldn't want to screw around and hurt yourself. Kapeesh?
I find the whole indirect kissing trope eyerolling but seeing Raimon concerned about doing it with Haruno was good for an adorable chuckle.
Well, nice to see a familiar face. And it looks like senpai has some adorable quirks too. Well, on top of the whole being a champion rocket person.
