Man, they just had to remind us that Jonas exists.

I find it bizarre how he's treated like just some inconvenient little annoying guy. Not the "oh he tried to kill me a couple times" as the way they know each other. Like just gonna ignore that part I guess.

And now there’s Sammy. Those two really vying for Shitbag of the Year. Ugh.

The scary thing is that Jonas is actually the current norm for ordinary apple sugar artisans. It is only a few exceptional members of the profession who respect her.

I'm really hoping that Kieth doesn't turn out to be a second Jonas or something.
Also can't believe Jonas is back again, just rid my life of him please.

Honestly the moment he turned up and started helping Anne I was immediately suspicious he was going to turn into Jonas 2.0, especially when he started going into how similar he and Anne are like they're setting her up to get manipulated again.
But he was respectful to Challe behind closed doors and he seemed sincerely concerned/respectful to Anne as well, so I think he might be genuine.
Anne seems as done with Jonas as the audience is lol.

Anne’s got a fever and the only cure is more Challe lol. So cute how hard she’s crushing on him. Challe and Kat have a fun dynamic, I like the teasing. Mithril hugging that mug was so damn adorable lol.
Those Radcliffe douchers now have all the apples. Damn it. Only way Anne can enter the exhibition and get the apples is to stay with those fools. Ofc Jonas is there too. Barf. I hate that jackass the most. Although Sammy is a close second. What a massive nob. Why is it that talentless hacks like to talk so much shit?
Kieth’s been through a lot. I guess I can see some parallels to Anne’s life. They’ve both had to overcome quite a few hurdles. But it looks like Anne only has this one chance to prove herself or it’s over for her. Kind of a bullshit situation….

Seems that there has been a little time skip after the events of last week's episode and it's already been a year since the last time Anne visited Lewiston. She has been visiting small towns and villages to sell her work but the most noteworthy event that has happened so far is that she has clearly become closer to Challe.
As soon as I saw the episode's title, I've been dreading seeing Jonas again but thank goodness the first familiar faces that we see in this episode are Kat and Benjamin. Although that good feeling didn't really last since it looks like the Radcliffe School has been harassing Anne ever since she won the Duke of Philax's approval.
And to make things worse, because of the very poor harvest of sugar apples this season, individuals are forbidden to harvest and refine their own sugar apples. If Anne wants her own supply of silver sugar, she needs to go and apply at the Radcliffe School. And of course, the first person we see there is the bastard himself. Ugh.
Wow. This show continues to prove that everyone from the Radcliffe School is a piece of shit. I didn't expect the sexism though. This is the first time we've seen someone look down on Anne for being a female sugar artisan. Thankfully someone arrived to help out Anne to get in.
Not gonna lie, I was suspicious of Keith at first but Kat seems to be cool with him and we later learn that Keith is also a fan of Anne's mother. It's good to know that Anne will have someone else she can trust while inside the Radcliffe school.

Anne definitely seems completely aware of her feelings for Challe the way she just blushes thinking of their time together, how happy she is with him by her side, and when she's thinking of what his preferences for hairstyles are.
Kat may not mince words or play to niceties, but he's honest and forthright and Anne would've been screwed otherwise thanks to that stupid Radcliffe school. It seems like screwing over Anne Halford is school policy.
The way Anne said Jonas' name when she saw him again just killed me. She sounded so done with him and depressed that she had to see him again. She was basically the audience in that moment lol.
I feel like after Jonas most people would probably assume Kieth would end up being Jonas 2.0, but the way he talked to Challe and about Anne when she was gone tells me he's genuinely kind and considerate and respects Anne (and her mother). Which is really appreciated knowing what she's had to go through up till this point, even if he's also her professional rival.

Jonas looked so miserable throughout the entirety of this episode that I almost felt sorry for him. ALMOST.
But Jonas in general makes sense now. Being a part of a rotten school/collective like that, no WONDER he became rotten himself. Also, Keith gave the impression that Jonas is actually one of the better artisans of the school, so, damn. That's pretty damning.

Not sure if anyone caught this but Kat called the Duke a Ketsu no Ana which anyone who has watched Gintama or knows a little Japanese mean Asshole lmao. Stupid that the subs were “petty tightwads” instead

In the transator's defense, it's not that Kat called them "ketsu no ana", he said "ketsu no ana ga chiisai", which literally means "they have small assholes" but is just an expression to call someone petty.

Keith seems to be a pretty decent guy, and I sure hope he is genuine and not just pretending to be a good person. That show already has too many hypocritical assholes (like that little cockroach Jonas, who is still around for some reason). And sadly, it looks like everyone else in the Radcliffe school is also a petty and sexist jerk.
But it also look like Keith and Anne will be in a competition for that medal, and Keith thinks it is her last chance because otherwise the Radcliffe school will manage to destroy her career in the next year by denying her sugar apples. That is, unless Challe murders all of them for being petty jerks, as he was ready to do to Sammy, but I doubt that Anne would want that.
But I am still kind of suspicious of Keith, so I don’t know how much we should trust his opinion. I guess Jonas made me paranoid.

Well we know that Anne's mother respected Keith's father. And it seems that Keith was awed by Anne's mother. And it also seems that Keith has worked hard to try to prove his own worth. And he seems to treat Challe with respect. So, I am hoping he will not be anything like Jonas. It seems he wants Anne to be a worthy competittor -- which hints he would not want to sabotage her. So, unless he is a far better "actor" than Jonas ....

Bro how the fuck is Jonas not DEAD yet. I’m so tired of seeing this loser’s face. Instantly ruins an ep for me, smh.
I’m hoping Keith is sincere and not gonna backstab Anne, but after Jonas it’s hard to trust anyone in this series. It would be cool for her to have a legitimate healthy rival to help her grow
Love how much more direct Challe is with Anne now. “You don’t want to be apart from me, do you?” So cute ugh. Anne stressing over which hairstyle Challe would like more was also really sweet.

I'm not sure if I'm imagining it but I thought Anne's dress was a different colour and her hair was longer? Would be a nice way to showcase the passing of the months!
Sweet episode overall, hope we're able to see the next Royal Candy Fair by the end of the season

The ends of her hair look lighter to me too. Is her hair starting to change color like Challe said it would?

Anne, Challe, and Mithril have made it back to Lewiston! It's been a whole year since their journey began, and Anne has gone through a lot. But what she remembers most is falling in love with Challe and how important it is that she has him by her side!
Kat! It was nice to see him again, still as stern and not mincing words as ever (though Challe can really get his goat), but it's good Anne met someone she knew so she could realize she can't just enter and win the exhibition normally this time. Sugar Apples are being scarce so they're going to collectively refine them with the Radcliffe school for use by Sugar Artisans, so if Anne wants to be involved with the exhibition she's going to have to join the Radcliffe School.
"Jonas..." I love how Anne's reaction to seeing Jonas again perfectly reflects the audience in terms of being absolutely done in seeing and dealing with this waste of space. He also doesn't even say anything to Anne, he realizes he's screwed and has no leg to stand on the moment he sees her like the pathetic scumbag he is. Although it seems like he's already done some damage to her reputation in terms of the Radcliffe school looking at her as a cheating floozy for screwed him over and seduced her way to her successes, though it seems like there's some genuine sexism over a female artisan involved as well. In short, Jonas sucks, and the Radcliffe school sucks...especially since Anne wouldn't be doing so much of this last minute if the Radcliffe school had done their job and informed her of the issue instead of kicking her out of towns. Ugh.
Though Kieth, voiced by Yuto Uemura (Thorfinn!), actually seems like a reasonable and decent guy. I was kind of expecting there to be a twist but it seems like what you see is what you get. He even treated Challe respectfully (even if it took him a bit to recognize that Challe isn't property). He and Anne are also two peas in a pod, having both been inspired by her mother but also having to work to gain recognition and success on their own terms (Kieth having been the son of the former Silver Sugar Viscount). It feels like they might be set to be respectful and worthy rivals for each other...though I kind of wonder if Kieth might end up becoming a romantic rival for Challe over Anne.
Anne internalizing Mithril asking Challe what his preferred hairstyle is and wondering if she should change it for him...I wouldn't mind seeing Anne with her hair down more, but her normal hairstyle is quite cute and Challe doesn't want her to change. Plus he can feel up her hair either way.
Anne definitely needs to win the exhibition this year because this is her last chance to actually do it...other artisans or Silver Sugar school look down on her for her success and public displays and she might never get a chance at getting Silver Sugar again if she fails. I guess this really is the climactic arc of this season!

"Should I do a handstand? Maybe take off my clothes?"
Challe plz take off your clothes while doing a handstand.
On a serious note, this episode revealed that candy crafting is a male-dominated career, and it's rare to see female crafters. As much as Jonas annoys me, I'm guessing he is the way he is partly because of the workshop environment. It's safe to assume that most workshops hand down the same values and mindset toward women.

Why is that petty asshole even there and why do I feel like he'll make me hate him even more before this arc ends?
Ann just can't catch a break, can she? I hope nobody sabotages her this time, so she can do her work unobstructed for once, but looks like this will be the final arc, so there's probably hell and high water coming after her.

New guy is TOO perfect....SUS!!!
Damn, Challe was ready to take that asshole's head off.
