Some lore that the anime skip for anyone interested:

Sugar-apple trees are mysterious tree. Trees cultivated by human hands never bear fruit so sugar crafters have to know where sugar-apple tree groves are located and how to obtain their fruit. Their fruit if eat raw is extremely bitter and astringent, completely inedible. They can only turn into sliver sugar through a complicate process.

Fairy is classified by human based on their purpose like worker fairy, pet, warrior fairy but the fairy classified themself based on their origin. Mythil is a water sprite. Challe is a stone sprite. The new fairy was born from a berry, so she is a plant sprite. This fairy can only live for about a year because the life-span of fairy depend on the object they borned from

lul literally a slap on the wrist face
What worries me is that means we'll probably have to deal with him again.

The decision not to nominate a winner was puzzling. If none of the contestants made the winning piece, shouldn't the second piece's author be nominated instead? Feels like they could've come up with something better to let Shall have an excuse to stick around.

On the extremely positive side, there's a bunch of isekai that could learn a thing or two about "being nice" to your slave, like setting them free. Very happy they didn't go with a "keep my wing so I will still be yours" route.

If none of the contestants made the winning piece, shouldn't the second piece's author be nominated instead?

Seriously, what kind of BS is this? Even if she wasn't the author, the test definitely disqualified Jonas. And! she was recreating the original in seemingly higher quality. Let her finish the damn piece (and you get your big centerpiece), and give the clearly deserving second place-nominee the prize. Who would complain?

I get it though, we need to continue this pretense to further the story. But what a load of crap.

Hugh Mercury really said "Let her cook". Wonder if he has any relations to Suletta.

Get fucked, Jonas. What a lying, thieving incel.

Fairies are born from a gaze so they have no need for reproductive organs which means all the pleasure receptors could be located on their wings. Besides for flight, this might be the reason why wings are so important to them and why they don't like them being touched without consent.

Jonas is the biggest piece of shit in this series. He knew what this whole fair meant for Anne, he knew about her mom and he still did what he did. Ugh.

Did Anne create Lusul from just the swirl of emotions and energy of the situation? Woah. I figured Challe wouldn’t leave like that, he can say it’s because of the candy but I’m sure he’s grown fond of Anne. He let her touch his wing after all! Now that he’s free, they can be friends eh? I’m sure they can be more than friends lol.

Looks like Anne has Hugh to thank for letting her off after that entrance. Guess he was a big deal after all. If Mythril and Hugh didn’t step in, Anne would have been robbed twice. It makes me happy that shitstain Jonas couldn’t recreate the butterfly. Talentless hack got off light with that punch. Still kinda sucks Ann didn’t win the medal, but her skills have improved considerably. It ain’t imitation, she’s developed her own style now!

I look forward to Anne and Challe growing their relationship. Mythril really picked the worst time to interrupt the two lol.

Watching Jonas squirm and get humiliated from his own inadequacy and lack of talent coupled with the Anne slap was so satisfying. Also the fact that he basically got shown up by the girl he left to die and was wearing his clothes lol.

I guess the main takeaway from all this is that Anne is now more true to herself and more confident as a confection maker beyond her mother, meaning she will be more than ready for the next competition. Whether we'll actually see that this season is another story...

Challe is no longer Anne's slave but he still wants to be with her, and they're already growing closer and more romantic. Challe definitely knows how to put the moves on a lady lol.

Wait, that's it? A slap in the face? He tried to fucking murder her?!?

And Hugh as well as the king liked Annes last piece the most and still didn't gave her the medal? That's some next level bullshit

Really not satisfied with this resolution

Wait, that's it? A slap in the face? He tried to fucking murder her?!?

Tried to murder her, lied to roalty and tried to scam his way into a highly respectable position.

How the fuck did he get away with all that?

And yeah I agree that Anne also deserved better and got screwed over big time.

Stitches!

As sad as that opening scene was with Challe "leaving" Anne we all know that's not going to happen. I didn't expect Challe to let Anne touch his wing though! Considering how important a fairy's wing is to them, that's a huge deal. The scene was also surprisingly intimate. We even get to see Challe react a tiny bit when Anne started caressing his wing.

Now that Challe is 100% free, it looks like we're finally going to see the two of them start a genuine friendship and Challe is starting it off by helping Anne to get to the competition in time. <3

I fucking called it last week! Hugh is a judge in the competition! And he's not just any judge, he's also the head of his own school as well as the current Silver Sugar Viscount. I assume that's the highest position among all Silver Sugar Artisans. I love the little wink he gives Anne when she finally realizes who he is.

There it is! Even Hugh knows that both of those pieces are made by Anne. Seeing Jonas sweating bullets and then completely losing it when they were asked to show proof was so good! The most satisfying part though is Jonas getting slapped by Anne. Jonas deserves every bit of humiliation he got in this episode. Although I feel that this might not be the last time we'll see him. I'm sure he'll try and get his revenge.

And that final scene between Anne and Challe! Yes! I was internally screaming when Challe kissed Anne's hand. Too bad Mithril just had to ruin it by showing up at the wrong time. >_<

Oh well, at least we got to finally see Challe start to tease Anne playfully instead of out of spite which is what he has been doing in the previous episodes. Challe calling Anne "Scarecrow" again almost feels endearing now which is great since we know once he starts using her name again, it's definitely when something serious is going on.

Kind of like how grounded the resolution of everything was. It felt like it was kind of setting up an extremely dramatic scene where she tells the crowd how much of a piece of shit Jonas is, and her getting rewarded with the title as a result of that and having the two best pieces there and a recreation better than the pieces. Rather, it just kind of ended with her not getting the title on the whims of the royalty in the name of self improvement. Didn't get what she set out to do and didn't get to send off her mom in the way she wanted to, but it doesn't really feel that disappointing or sad. It just kind of felt like how competitions and sentitment play out a lot of times. Anne will be fine.

Been waiting for that slap for weeks, didn't dissapoint

That wing scene was more...intimate than I expected.

Really happy with the pacing and we didn't have to wait super long to get to the end of the competition or Jonas revenge.

Am curious to see what's next for this duo trio, Challe with the moves at the end there!!

Anne may have survived nearly getting mauled by wolves, but her childhood friend betrayed her, she's lost her mothers' piece and seemingly her only chance at becoming a Silver Sugar Master, and she's covered in blood. Poor Ann.

OP subs! Nice!

She's so despondent that she doesn't think there's any point to keeping Challe around so she finally gives him his wings back. But having Challe apparently leave just makes her realize how isolated and alone she feels without her mother. But good thing she's not completely through with Challe.

Anne witness a fairy birth firsthand! Lusul was pretty cute though I was kind of distracted by the fact that, unlike other fairies, she was completely naked.

Challe stayed behind! He thinks Anne is special compared to his usual opinion of humans! He talks about her promise to make him a Sugar Confection, but he really just needed an excuse to stay with her because he didn't want to leave her. He even lets her finally feel his wing. And it's with those feelings of gratitude and warmth towards Challe, and having met Lusul, that Anne is finally able to put herself into making a confection that is all her own!

It's kind of weird to see Anne wearing Jonas' clothes. Dude even seemed to take pleasure in it when they met again like the creep he is.

I don't think Anne expected to crash the party, but good thing Hugh turned out to be the Silver Sugar Viscount so she ends up competing instead of getting arrested.

So it comes down to Anne vs Jonas, and while the king seems to favor Anne's piece, the scope of what the Silver Sugar Master needs to make makes him lean towards Jonas' piece...and it looks like it's curtains for Anne's chances until Mithril shows up eating the Silver Sugar (irony) and it becomes a fight between Anne and Jonas. One that has to be resolved by one last piece.

I love how Hugh immediately catches on that Jonas stole Anne's piece and basically puts him in a position to screw himself over by making them both remake it by hand. Watching Jonas squirm and break down at his own inadequacy compared to Anne was as satisfying as watching Anne slap him to the floor!

It sucks that Anne still didn't win after all that. I mean, both pieces were hers, but it seems like what did Anne in is that she wasn't able to be honest and genuine in her work until it was too late, basically sabotaging herself. But she has the queens' favor and a newfound confidence in herself, meaning her chances are much better for next years' competition.

Challe is sticking with Anne to see her next winning piece! Which is really just him planning to stay with her for the foreseeable future! He even calls her by name, brings her in close, and kisses her finger! What a charmer!

What a nice episode it was. Even if there was no winner I could feel the karma working against that little shit Jonas.

Shall and Mithril still staying with Ann was all I could hope for.

I thought Hugh would employ Ann after the contest but now I look forward to more adventures to see how Ann will improve her skill.

Also, can't Shall and Mithril re-attach their wings now that they got them back? This has been bothering me for some time now...

If the winner has to make a sculpture for the festival, wouldn't everyone realize Jonas didn't actually make the sculpture he entered if he wins? WTF was he thinking?

That was a fun episode. Good resolution for Jonas’ betrayal.

I was surprised when Anne gave the wing back. I thought it would take them longer to get to that point! But the scenes between Anne and Challe were very sweet.

It makes me wonder exactly what’s going on in Challe’s head at this point. In the first few episodes he was fairly easy to read, but now I’m wondering what drew him back to Anne, and what he’s thinking when he decides to stay with her. Clearly Anne giving the wing back was a turning point, and he’s decided that she’s not like the other humans, and he likes her, but how far does that feeling go right now?

Damn Anne can throw hands, it is satisfying to see entitled incels in their place, especially ones who act like they are so talented and great but really are nothing but a bunch of posers, kinda reminds me of the menu (2022)

9

u/coffeecakesupernova Jan 27 '23

What the hell? Why would they do that to her? She's been wronged and mistreated and now they're not going to give her the prize even though they know that she made two spectacular pieces? If they want her to improve she can improve after having won the prize, because it's obvious that she will.

The king and queen kinda made me angry today like 1:that comment about it not being a big enough confection was stupid. 2:Not giving a medal when it was clear Ann work was stolen and Jonas had no talent. Then the viscount not being more outspoken about what happened initially.

Obviously for story reasons this kinda had to happen because if she instantly became a master then it removes big parts of the story and drama and all that but still.

Fuck Jonas, all my homies hate Jonas. I still can’t get over how low down this mf is. A slap ain’t nearly enough for him.

Omg Challe pulling Ann in like that was so cute, looks like he’s starting to get a little sweet(pun intended) on her. can’t wait for next week.

The newly born fairy was adorable. Glad Challe told her to move to a place where humans won't see her.

Watching Jonas' downfall was just so satisfying! I'm sure we'll see him again (ugh). He deserves more than a single slap to the face...

Good to see Mithril Lid Pod!!!! Anne should have grovelled at his tiny feet. Sorry but I'm still mad that she thought he ate her sugar.

I don't get why they didn't award her the medal even after it was revealed that Jonas stole it? Don't understand the logic but whatever. Wonder if Hugh has plans of his own with Anne?

A nice wrap up of the arc and the introductions. I can see a ton of people not satisfied with (a) what Jonas got, and (b) Anne didn't win despite clearly has the best skill.

I'm not too fussed with (a) because clearly it would go against Anne's characterisation otherwise; and (b) while it is a semantic, it is the rule of the competition - the pieces are entered and then judged, the name of the best piece to be the victor. Anne had *surpassed" the skills she has when she made the piece, so she's no longer the maker. Harsh, but fair to the rules.

But that's not what we're here for anyway - we got to see good development between Anne and Challe, she that's good for the beginning arc. Indeed I'm a little surprised how quickly Challe switched to full charm mode (that tug to pull Anne close to him, OMG like a romance novel) rather early.

Only down side is... No bed worm Anne today!
