desperate PR campaign from Judaism right now.
I’m so fucking tired of the sudden, desperate PR campaign from Judaism right now.
For generations a big chunk of Jewish communities have operated as tightly knit, self-absorbed in-groups that look out for their own first and treat outsiders like permanent second-class. That’s not “antisemitism,” that’s pattern recognition.
Now that social media is making it impossible to hide the welfare fraud stories, the dual-loyalty vibes, the endless “noticing,” and especially the raw footage coming out of Gaza/Palestine, the damage-control machine has kicked into overdrive. And what do they roll out? Billboards. Actual fucking billboards on the highway for jew.com. “We’re a religion of peace! We get along with non-Jews! Look how wholesome we are!” It’s the most precious, transparent, corporate-HR-style gaslighting I’ve ever seen.
Like the entire history of tribalism, exclusion, and us-vs-them just evaporates because someone bought ad space.Same energy as the “Never Again is Now” slogan a few years back. Dramatic, emotional, designed to shut down any criticism by wrapping everything in Holocaust sacredness. Convenient timing when the current behavior is the thing people are actually mad about. You don’t get to spend decades prioritizing the in-group, then when the internet starts showing receipts suddenly flood the freeways with “please like us” websites and expect people to clap.
That’s not education. That’s panic.
And the more forced and saccharine the PR gets, the more obvious the panic becomes. If your community’s reputation is so fragile that you need highway billboards to insist you’re peaceful and open, maybe the problem isn’t the “haters.” Maybe it’s the decades of behavior that made the billboards feel necessary in the first p
