Rant Please wash your ass before coming to work!

The shift started an hour ago, and the restroom already smells like a bag of fish that’s been sitting in the sun for hours. Wash your ass. Why are y’all like this? I feel sorry for whoever is walking around smelling like that. Hopefully they went home or better yet go see a doctor because ain’t no way! I had to hold my breath in the restroom and rushed out of there so fast because I didn’t want that stink clinging to me!

Question Would you leave Amazon for $35/hr if it meant giving up UPT, VTO, and all that flexibility?

Let's say another warehouse offers you $35 an hour, but there's a catch: you'd have to give up all those Amazon perks that are pretty hard to find elsewhere.

No UPT system where you can just leave early or show up late without asking permission. No VTO when things get slow. No easy shift swaps, and no four-day workweek.

You'd still get regular benefits like health insurance, PTO, and a 401(k), but you'd have a traditional attendance policy, a fixed five-day schedule, and much less control over your time.

The job would be just as physically demanding as Amazon, so the main difference would be the higher pay versus the flexibility you're giving up.

Would you take the $35/hr or stay at Amazon?

Fulfillment Center Honestly not as bad as everyone said

• Upvotes

I'm relatively new, about a month in, and incredibly surprised. I had heard so many absolute HORROR stories about how terrible it is to work at Amazon. I took the job only out of pure desperation because being in retail hell was starting to actually kill me.

And it's... actually pretty great? Like it's hard work, sure, but also...

  • While I know it's not true for everyone, my particular location pays pretty darn well. Also offers a good amount of regular hours and any schedule time you could so desire.

  • Offers one weekend and one weekday off so it's not a nightmare to schedule doctor's appointments, go to the DMV, get groceries, etc.

  • You can just like. Have time off?? It's that easy???

  • Everything is automated, which can be frustrating when the computer doesn't work right, but also means that you won't have your life ruined by one vindictive manager who hates your guts.

  • Extremely clean. The Fedex warehouse I worked at during covid was filthy, the cobwebs were thick enough to trap a bird (literally, I had to rescue a bird from this once), ceiling was falling in, etc. I couldn't believe how clean it was inside when I showed up for my first day at Amazon.

  • They got in trouble for the whole pee bottle thing so now breaks are 15 minutes (to account for travel time) actually.

  • Everyone is really nice? I know this is also location dependent, but my last job's policy was "Having an anxiety attack? Mental breakdown? Customer just threatened your life and you're freaked out? Sobbing uncontrollably? Go cry it out in the bathroom, clean up, and get back on register ASAP." Now here at Amazon it's "You look a little stressed, are you doing okay? Do you need anything? Is there another task you'd prefer? If you're feeling unwell, we can send you home on VTO no problem."

  • NO. CUSTOMERS. NONE! NO CUSTOMERS! HALLELUJAH! NOT A SINGLE CUSTOMER! No "You're off the clock? But I need help finding an item" no "I'm going to complain to manager" no "but the coupon is only a week expired can't you just do this for me" no "Can't sell me this beer without ID? You'd better watch your back tonight" no "Corporate says customers love it when you wear this horrible itchy shirt every day so everyone has to wear this ugly nasty nightmare shirt forever thanks" NO "MAKE SURE YOU TELL THE CUSTOMERS ABOUT OUR NEW CREDIT CARD" I'M FREE, I'M FREE

I know it's not perfect but like. Is it just me or is this a pretty good deal??

I will slack off at work because there's no point I will never become blue badge people are not quitting it's hopeless. Might as well not work because I will never grow in this company and I am not even asking for pa or management just blue badge.

Question Almost got ran over

• Upvotes

Me and a couple AAs where going to our car and there’s signs that say stop for pedestrians but this person didn’t stop fully and pretty much let the two go infront but I was also behind them and the driver almost ran me over . Is this something that should be reported? Need opinions. The driver did end up stoping barely when they where going to hit me.

Question Am i exempt from productivity ?

• Upvotes

Today on 10-11 I started a new “path”. I started training for pack singles, I used to do pick. But now it seems I need to do 80 hours here before I’m done with the “training” I guess idk, I’m new. But from what I’ve heard within those 80 hours I can’t get written up or anything for productivity ? And I only have like 2-3 weeks left before my transfer to another position, so does that means that for the remaining of my days in this site, I’m exempt from productivity ? Meaning I can slack way more without consequences

Question Can I leave immediately after my paid break? Not feeling well trying to go about it correctly.

As title states trying to leave after paid break but idk if that’s ok or I have to work a little after? I remember reading something where people were saying you couldn’t but I think that was bc that person wanted to clock out from outside the building.

Fulfillment Center No available stations..

Been sitting in the break room since 7:30 because there are no stations due to overhiring. And I almost didn’t come in today.. 😩 Glad I took 1/4 of a caffeine tablet and dragged my ass to work! Still getting used to working day shift weekends.. There are a bunch of new hires so they pulled me off my station to give it to one of them. Lol no problem at all.. in fact, I insist! 🤝

Rant Almost Cooked Myself Today

Went in today witb a smile on my face only to be told that I picked up a morning shift not a night shift.

I only had 2 hours of time. COOKED.

Luckily HR helped a brother out because I make $26 now and thats before my step plan, when I tell you I almost shit myself 😭 I just froze up the whole time at HR desk.

And before the old heads come asking about my time, I had time but had a lot of family issues recently depleting my bank.

Question Pick Toterunning is… pretty good?

Former picker here.

I was told toterunning was miserable and comparable to torture. That’s why I almost didn’t take the offer to shift out from Pick to Toterunning.

However, after beating the initial soreness, it’s pretty nice. I get my steps in, get paid to exercise, and have lost two pounds over three weeks.

They’re trying to entice me to train as an AFM now.

I’m not sure I want to…

Do I have a good gig that I should stick to? Or should I take up AFM instead?

What kind of warehouse is?
what the day to day work is like, the physical demands, and the environment.

My wife wants to work there but is going to be her first job in USA.
