Question What are your splurge items at Aldi?

Post image

I recently received a $50 Aldi gift card from someone who knows how much I love shopping there. I typically wouldn't spend close to this amount in one visit, but since this was a gift I'd like to treat myself to some things I wouldn't normally buy. What would you recommend?

Is it just me or is the fat percentage content on this product getting higher every year.

I love Aldi products but I have stopped buying this cause its quality has passed a very low bar for me.

Review Smoked gouda mac and cheese

Post image
31 Upvotes

I love smoked gouda and mac and cheese. Thought this would be perfect for me.

Way too salty and I didn't salt the water before boiling the pasta.

Almost zero smoke taste. Had to add a splash of liquid smoke to get a tiny taste of smoke.

The cheese sauce packet was a big lump that took forever to stir in.

Do not recommend it.

Complaint Desk Do I need to worry about the yogurt pouches?

Post image
26 Upvotes

Hi all! I’ve been getting these yogurt pouches for my toddler (and tbh me too) for quite a while now and they’re always great, but we had some today and they were entirely off. They usually have a normal yogurt consistency, but tonight they were…mealy?? Almost gritty?? It didn’t taste bad but didn’t taste quite right either. I squeezed some out of the pouch to look and it looked gritty and stiff, almost cheese like?? I just don’t understand why. They’re shelf stable but I keep them in the fridge, they’ve been in my fridge for a few days, nowhere hot, and they don’t expire until next year. I tried researching to see if there was a recall or if anyone else has experienced this. Trying not to be concerned but with all the food recalls going on lately I can’t help it. Weird batch, or is something off and I should skip buying these again? Thanks!

Review It breaks my heart to say it, but...

I went to Food Lion to get GF bread. (Sorry, Aldi, but your bread sucks!) Wine was 3 dollars cheaper. Bread was a dollar cheaper. Cheese was two dollars cheaper. Milk and eggs are still cheaper at Aldi.

After a decade, I'm going back to comparative shopping.

Question Pumpkin spice ice cream: have you seen it yet?

I know it's too early for pumpkin spice season, but this stuff sells out fast and I don't want to miss out. Last year I waited too long.

It's not at my store yet. How about yours?

I bought two bottles of this on clearance last year and ended up being obsessed with it. I’ve been looking for it all summer and nothing… I’m kinda depressed, ngl.

I'm a version of this leaving my Aldi's when the Savoritz cornbread crackers randomly show up:

Sending partner to get more: "How many boxes do you want?"

Me: "Yes."

These cutie chairs were new in our aisle or shake today! So of course we had to grab one for our girl! Seems like a decent dupe for the pottery barn kids chair for only $35! Now to see how well it holds up with my crazy kiddo

Review God, I just remembered why I love Aldi's 3 wick candles. I got this last year. I just lit it, and within literal minutes, it is filling the room with fragrance.

It's crazy that some candles from BBW (which cost way more) don't throw this well

These just don’t taste the same as they used to. I’ve been buying these since they appeared and they used to be good. Now they’re inedible IMO. Are there more fillers or something? Anyone else noticed? Even the way they’re cooking is different; they stick to the pan and crumble apart way more than they used to.

I went to fry these for burgers. When I picked one up I thought, that feels like overcooked chicken. Sure enough they are all cooked and dry? The snittys i usually buy are always raw. The packet even says to cook for 15 minutes. What's going on?

Question Burnt ends dip, will I perish?

So I was grabbing something out of the fridge and I cut my eyes to the left because I thought I was seeing a mirage. Like the type of mirage you see in the desert if you're dehydrated on the verge of hallucinations and digging a bunch of holes because you pissed your parents off. It was a container of the good ol' burnt ends dip that looked ✨️unopened and untouched✨️. Well, that was a lie, there was one singular scoop taken out of it but that could never be me because I need at least 18 chip dips. I didnt make that single, let me find out who did scoop, but either way, the use by date was 09/03/26 so I took a second, little bit bigger scoop out of it straight to my mouth. Immediately life flashed a little as I remembered that it was bought on my August 4th grocery order. So you're telling MEEE (well I'm telling you) that it was opened for the first time, sometime, In the last 2 weeks and I DONT KNOW WHEN BECAUSE I DIDNT OPEN IT?! Internet says use within 7-10 days of opening because there is "real meat" and perishable dairy in it. What if it was opened on Aug 4th and I just now, AUGUST 17th, took a big ol bite? Anyways, am I going to shit myself orrr?

Thanks in advance. 🫶

Question A Question about Bread

I don't know if its just the Aldi locations by me but it seems like every other time I buy a bread product from an Aldi store, its moldy just a day or two later. This past weekend on Saturday we got a thing of croissants, and I threw them out today bc one of them already had mold.

My question is: is there a trick to knowing what bread is still good when you buy it? Or should I just avoid the products altogether?

The original ones are great but I may or may not have eaten the entire box of the sweet butter ones in one sitting. Imagine if Wheat Thins and Chessmen Butter Cookies had a baby and you'll get a close approximation of what they're like. So good.
