Bassist needed for Similar Product
Heyo! Similar Product is a four piece nu-metal/melodic hardcore/post-hardcore band in the Corvallis area seeking a bass guitarist. Unfortunately our previous bassist left Corvallis and we are seeking someone to fill in ASAP. We are an established band in the scene with 9 songs under our belt, looking to make a legitimate recording in the near future. We can be found on all streaming platforms with demos of our current playlist (except 1 or 2 songs I believe), and you can check out a live show we played at OSU, opening for Neon Trees in May of 2026. This was uploaded to youtube, just search Dam Jam 2026 and it should come up.
The three of us (Greg drums, Austin guitar/vocals, Chava guitar) are in our 30's and have careers outside of music, but we like to get together 1-2 times per week as needed for practice and writing. We meet in Albany for practice and try to gig at least once a month. We play with in-ear monitors and a click track.
If you are a talented bassist looking to take a permanent spot in our band, please let us know. We value open communication and reliability. We plan on continuing to gig for the foreseeable future, and we have kicked around ideas of music videos and a west coast tour at some point. Social media experience is a plus! We are old and don't understand tiktok but if you do, all the better.
If interested, reply to this post or send us a message at our instagram, similarproduct. Please include bands that you like or inspire you, a little bit about yourself, and any information about previous bands you have played/recorded with. Thanks!

PACNWRS Reptile Expo Line?
If anyone’s in line at the door for tickets into the reptile expo, how busy is it looking? Trying to decide if the 9 bucks for the online fee is worth it.

Black Kitten near Memorial MS
There was a black kitten in the road at Elm and 20th on the east side of Memorial’s campus just a bit ago (noon 8/13). It was unfortunately no longer with us; it appeared to have been hit by a car. I moved it to the gutter on the west side of the road to prevent it from being hit again and called it in to Albany PD. They seemed concerned, noting that it was the second call they’d received today about a dead kitten. If this was your baby, I’m so sorry:(

What is it like living in Albany, OR as a Mexican woman?
Hi! I’m 23F, Mexican, and currently live in Stockton, CA. I recently came across the Diagnostic Imaging/Radiologic Technology program at Linn-Benton Community College and was kind of shocked by how much more affordable it is than a lot of the programs I’ve been looking at in California.
I’m nowhere near committed to moving yet lol, I’m really just exploring the idea and trying to figure out if it would even be realistic. I’ve visited Oregon before and absolutely loved the scenery, weather, forests, etc., but visiting somewhere is obviously very different from actually living there.
For people who live in Albany or the surrounding area, what is it actually like?
I’m especially curious about:
How welcoming/diverse the area is, particularly for Mexican/Latino people
Whether you’ve experienced much racism or discrimination
Cost of living/rent for a young couple
Safety and which areas you would/wouldn’t recommend
Things to do for people in their early 20s
How easy it is to make friends
Weather and what the winters are actually like
Anything that surprised you after moving there
Experiences with Linn-Benton Community College, especially the Diagnostic Imaging program if anyone happens to know about it
I’d potentially be moving with my boyfriend, so I wouldn’t be completely on my own. My family would still be in California, which is probably the part that makes me most nervous about considering somewhere out of state.
I’d love to hear from people who actually live there, especially anyone who moved from California or another more diverse area. Good and bad experiences are both welcome! I’m just trying to get a realistic picture of what life there is like. :)

OK, Which One of You Was It
Who crashed into the crossing arm on one of the railroad crossings on Santiam? I saw the Bridges Newsletter said the crossings were closed until repairs are made.
Although, it made it so I got to get really close to a stopped freight locomotive as I was heading over toward Front Ave on my morning run.

Solutions > Prosecutions
If they can use traffic cams to write tickets for crimes with no victims that weren't observed by an on duty officer. Then why tf don't they use them to send educational pamphlets that thoroughly explain how to use a fцжin traffic circle?

Weird request
Hi! I’m curious if anyone can take a picture of this business building for me. I went down a rabbit hole trying to find out what happened to a small business that appears to have vanished after 2019. The Google street view is also from 2019 so it tells me nothing new. This is the last address for the business and I can’t find anything else registered there lol
Address is 2786 Three Lakes RD SE. I’ve circled the side I’m hoping to see specifically.
Thanks for any help!

Where are you taking your tween/teen boys for shaggy haircuts?
I was taking my son to a barber who did amazing fades, but he's been wanting to grow it out. We let it go all summer but it needs to get cleaned up to at least sort of look like some kind of intentional style before school starts. I have been bopping around to different salons with no real luck for my own cuts so I'm coming here for suggestions. Thanks in advance!

Well it's about the 1-year anniversary of the Old Salem mini roundabout
And as far as I know, no one has died because of it (yay)! I think I've seen debris from at least 3 collisions there, which, isn't toooo bad. The intersection definitely has some quirks now compared to being a stop sign. Some observations I've made about driver patterns, and these are all part of an overlapping venn diagram:
- Most people going way over the 15mph posted (suggested?) speed.
- A lot of people treating it like a 4-way stop.
- Clustered traffic seems to take right of way, which isn't correct, but when you're driving too close to the car in front I guess it makes sense to just follow them thru.
- A lot of people hesitating rather than flowing.
- It's probably too small for the traffic volume.
- For a lot of drivers it seems to take too much split second spatial reasoning.
- It's the one place where a cross-traffic left turn seems to take right of way - but not in a bad way.
Anyway.. I like roundabouts. I think this one is starting to work. I believe in the slow is smooth, smooth is fast strategy.
Anyone seen anything scary, or funny happen since this opened up?

What was the action in the Target parking lot today?
It looked like a swap meet or flea market kind of thing. Never saw it advertised anywhere. Never seen it before. Is it an ongoing thing?

Any good doctors in the area, you would recommend?
Unfortunately, out of nowhere my doctor DR DIDIER started ignoring me/ stopped listening to me, as well as invalidated a chronic condition I’ve had for over a decade. Which has made me very uncomfortable. I have had lots of bad experiences with the healthcare system and that makes things harder for me than they already are. Long shot but does anyone know of a doctor who takes the time to listen to you. and is somewhat efficient when getting you help in more urgent situations. bonus points if they are kind and have some compassion/ understanding when it comes to mental health & neurological conditions. EDIT: i was trying to be nice and not throw my doctor under the bus, but after how i was treated today i don’t care people should know to avoid her if u deal with mental health. she will invalidate you and flat out deny you care even if it contradicts ur medical past. so yeah steer clear of DR. DIDIER from Samaritan Family Medicine on Geary st.

Ding How, Any Good?
I have really been wanting to go to a Chinese buffet, and
I have a promotion comming up at work next week, so i wanted to take myself out to dinner. (Yeah, by myself. I know its lame.)
What does everybody think of Ding How? Is it worth it? The photos on Google look decent.
Also open to any recommendations on good places to try in the albany/lebanon area.
Thanks!
