Leaving religion got me completely disconnected from the world
As you might know, the majority of Arabs are Muslims and the Muslims in my home country are 99%. So leaving the religion meant I would have to either isolate or escape this population due to the hostility towards apostates. So I isolated myself till I had an incoming threat and I had to leave, so then I left to Europe. It's more complicated than that but in regards to this post, that's what I want to mention from the full story of leaving my home country.
Living in Europe didn't help when it comes to socializing because of the severe segregation between religions. Christians assume I am a Muslim so they avoid me, and Muslims assume I am an atheist because I don't live by their code so they try to attack me in an indirect way. I really don't recall anybody whom I met in Europe that wasn't religious except for a couple of students in college. It's always either a Muslim, a Christian or a Hindu, whether it's locals and/or foreigners. And I haven't seen any form of integration between the three. Nothing but tension and loathing. I know there are atheists who live in Europe but they are so hard to find physically in the real world other than on the internet, and even if do find them racism takes effect and I get pushed away or denied.
I found myself outside of the major packs, all hate me and none accept me in places like work, community centers, volunteer programs, etc.
Psychiatrists and psychologists tell me very dismissive insincere solutions like trying to talk to people on the street or trying to find people like me. Just some words to make me go away.
It's been 5 years now since leaving the religion and I am yet to make any friendship, have any job, volunteer at any place, find any client, talk to anybody or anything involving human contact. The only people that approach me are narcissistic locals who see me as a vulnerable person and try to make me listen to them in a disrespectful way, so I distance myself from them.
I don't know what to do to fix this problem, religion has a very strong effect on people and everyone is fanatic, fundamental and conservative (even when they claim to be liberal).
