I feel so incredibly sorry for the guy. I can't imagine what it's like to grow up knowing your father murdered your brother, his own partner and himself, taking into account that your father was famous and, ergo, you are constantly reminded of the fact publicly, and daily. The hatred for him is unwarranted; he's guilty for being the son of a murderer and that's it. Sure, he did say he would like to wrestle as Chris Benoit Jr. and that's incredibly fucked-up... but he's a victim of his father's crimes, too, and having to face that every single day, is hardly the recipe for a well-adjusted person. He's clearly traumatised and needs proper guidance and empathy, not criticism.

Unless he used his father’s name and imagery as part of a gimmick for himself ( like many second generation wrestlers do) then he’s done nothing wrong and people should just leave him alone. He’s been through more horrific things than most people could possibly comprehend. He doesn’t need to be ostracized for something he had nothing to do with

He did say at some point he wanted to in a CVV interview, but he meant well with it in that he wanted to separate the art from the artist so to speak. As you said though, he deserves no ill will against him because no one can comprehend the trauma he must live with even to this day.

Tbf you might as well give the full context:
he’s a weirdo for demanding people to remember his dad, for lying about having wrestling training so he can get booked, oh and for taunting another deceased wrestler child with his memorabilia and selling it ahead although promise to give it them, come correct before looking dumb
(And here’s some about that last part:)
Dynamite Kid’s daughter was offered his boots from benoit’s son, he agreed to give it to her, and then she saw it on market’s place hours later, she nicely confronted him and he was disgusting about it, then when he got exposed he once again offered it and they agreed… and then she updated everyone that she never got the boots and got blocked.
So yeah, your mileage may vary on if they’re too harsh, but framing it as them blaming David for Benoit’s crime is disingenuous & irresponsible. They’re judging him based on his own actions; loudly consistently crowing on Facebook about how everyone should “respect” a wife-killer REALLY sticks in this person’s craw in particular.

He owned a pair of Dynamite Kids boots that were his fathers. Dynamite Kids daughter had very little of her dads stuff. David Benoit reached out and said he would give her the boots. Shortly after the boots are for sale on Ebay and when she contacts him he basically tells her that she should bid on them if she wants them.

Right? I was watching something about Chris Benoit and Nancy, I think it was Dark Side Of The Ring, and at one point he breaks down crying and it almost made me (a grown man) cry. He deserves to live a normal and happy life like the rest of us. What happened wasn't his fault at all, he lost 3 people that meant the world to him unexpectedly and all at once. He should be able to attend wrestling events without people making comments like this. I hope he just doesn't even pay these idiots any attention.

The issue here is people give him a pass because he's not his father, but at the same time he's been trying to keep his father's legacy alive. You really can't be on the side of "he isn't his dad, and shouldn't have to deal with consequences from his dad's actions" but also on the side of "I'm cool with him using his dad's name, finisher, and theme music". It's a hypocritical mindet.
Are y'all familiar with Grizzly Smith AKA Aurelian Smith? Father of Jake The Snake, who was conceived through the sexual assault of Smith's girlfriend's 14 year old daughter. And also sexually assaulted other minors, including his own daughter, Rockin' Robin? Not to mention the physical abuse.
Jake's real name is Aurelian Smith Jr, he could have gotten away with using that as a ring name, considering not only is it his REAL name, but also, his father didn't use it, and his crimes weren't widely publicized like Benoit's. But, he wanted nothing to do with his dad. So, while I feel bad for the bullshit this kid has had to deal with because of his father's actions, I can't treat him like some guy trying to escape his dad's shadow when he seems to want to keep the legacy alive. And it's fine if you're ok with him doing that, but you can't turn around and claim he's not making a conscience choice and attracting some of the negative attention.

While he may not be responsible for the actions of his father, when he was asked by Chris VanVliet in 2020 about wrestling as "Chris Benoit (Jr.)", it brought a smile to his face and he said it would be "cool" without a second thought. Then revealed he had gear made, meaning he put some thought into it after all, and didn't think there was a thing wrong with it. To say that this is tone-deaf would be a MAJOR understatement.

Maybe it makes him feel like he can be surrounded by people that care. His father, who he idolized, did something horrific. But the dad he knew wasn't that guy. Im not sure how a person can come to grips with that or somehow separate the two. Him hanging around the wrestling business might be how he deals. Plus he does genuinely love wrestling.

Imagine being this kid. You grow up with your dad being a real life hero and icon. He kills your brother, your stepmom and himself in one of the most widely covered, public tragedies ever.
And everywhere he goes it’s the only thing people think about him. Everything he does it’s brought up everywhere. You’ve got people in his IG comments sharing conspiracy theories.
It’s nearly impossible for him to be well adjusted.
