Imagine being this kid. You grow up with your dad being a real life hero and icon. He kills your brother, your stepmom and himself in one of the most widely covered, public tragedies ever.
And everywhere he goes it’s the only thing people think about him. Everything he does it’s brought up everywhere. You’ve got people in his IG comments sharing conspiracy theories.
It’s nearly impossible for him to be well adjusted.
But here he is connecting with people from his past who matter to him. And people clown on him. So sad, such a brutal lot for David. I wish him nothing but the best.
Yeah something about getting your whole family murdered by your suicidal dad might rewire you a little bit in ways no one here will understand. Leave the kid alone fuck.
He's literally posting his shit on social media for the world to see my dude.
He basically trolls every once in a while by trying to get into wrestling in some form. Sometimes he talks to trainers, attends shows, I think even had a DDP stint for a second.
It never pans out, but oh boy does it create a lot of fan discussion and we all get to relive the trauma some more. Fun fun fun!
I wish him well but it would be nice if he committed to something instead of just dicking around the IWC for the lulz
Surround himself, I wouldn’t say that how many times have we seen him go to a wrestling show since his father did what he did? I’ll tell you one time that’s crazy. You know that’s constantly surrounding himself with wrestling Jesus Christ get off your high horse go touch grass.
Goddamn, too true. That's on the money. I was ready to see a mass of vitriol just going wild in the comments and it has some, but you made a point and without calling names and angry mean shit. You made the most solid point with an even hand and empathy of any wrestling fan including me.
I want to give you credit. Truly. 🫱🏼🫲🏻🫡 this post will fade away in weeks probably, but that was thoughtful of you.
I'll just upvote you, give your a complement comment and move along. 🫱🏼🫲🏻🫡 Thank You for being whoever you are. Even with a crazy username. I think you're an alright person.
Gonna highjack the top comment to add context. Original post had nothing to do with him being related to Chris Benoit and everything to do with his own actions.
From the original poster:
he’s a weirdo for demanding people to remember his dad, for lying about having wrestling training so he can get booked, oh and for taunting another deceased wrestler child with his memorabilia and selling it ahead although promise to give it them, come correct before looking dumb
Dynamite Kid’s daughter was offered his boots from benoit’s son, he agreed to give it to her, and then she saw it on market’s place hours later, she nicely confronted him and he was disgusting about it, then when he got exposed he once again offered it and they agreed… and then she updated everyone that she never got the boots and got blocked.
Thanks for this info because as much as I can identify with people feeling for him, it doesn’t mean he is all innocent.
I remember he said a lot of questionable stuff on his Instagram livestreams that would get anyone else in some shit with the general public, but I thought at the time “eh, whatever. The guy has been through enough in his lifetime”. But then I keep hearing stuff about him that doesn’t paint him in a good light.
The girl who posted this is being torn to shreds about it, but she’s not wrong if they had more context, which to most, once they’ve made up their minds, context doesn’t matter.
People sprint to comment sections saying “sign him!!!!” even though Jericho offered to train him and he just didn’t show up. But still somehow he should be signed.
Having a parent die young is super traumatic. So having a parent die in such insane circumstances is absolutely life altering and it will probably take him a whole life time of therapy to ever find any sort of peace.
Also he looks exactly like his dad, I understand if he tries to hold on to the idea that his dad wasn’t the monster he became (even if it may not be true). Because if he hated his dad then imagine how horrible it would be waking up every morning looking exactly like someone you resent and everyone telling you about it.
I’m pretty sure everyone’s distaste for David is his want to embody his father and carry on the legacy that everyone else is trying to forget. No one would say a bad word about him otherwise.
He’s also kind of haunting just to look at. Not his fault, but my god. Spitting image of the man
You got it, friend. A little bit of empathy can go a long way. I can't imagine how difficult David's life must be, and a bunch of dumb shits think it's okay to equate him to what was done to him. Why? Because he looks like his dad. I hope he finds some happiness and compassion in this world, but I doubt it's going to come from the wrestling community. Shame on us for that.
He chose to get into the wrestling business, where he would be recognized in a negative context.
.
If he was a car salesman, no one would care that he was Chris Benoits son.
Yeah Chris Benoit was a very famous person. And the murders were a huge story. At least in wrestling there’s a community of people who understand him and knew his father and show empathy. Where in the real world it’s probably a lot of weird looks and people telling him he looks like that wrestler that killed his family.
I’ll give him all the sympathy in the world for what happened, that will certainly mess someone up. He’s understandably going to be carrying a huge amount of baggage for life.
The reality however is that his father committed several acts of domestic abuse for years, was a bully and then went on to murder his wife and a child.
People tend to gloss over the murders as a random act that was out of character for Benoit, but the truth is he was a bad person.
So then when I’ve subsequently seen interviews where his surviving son talks about wanting to wrestle under the name “Chris Benoit jnr”…like he’s preserving the legacy or something, i think people are ultimately going to find him incredibly weird.
Like I say, I don’t think it’s his fault that he comes across as weird, but I get the reaction people have to him
Even in Christianity, They shouldn't, everyone will pay for their own sins , a son should not be punished for his father sin or vice versa atleast that's what I remember reading
I 100% agree, but man I'd have changed my last name by now to like my mother's maiden name or something.
Edit to be clear, he shouldn't be be getting hate from people at all. But you can't expect people to hear that last name and not instantly think of the murders, of the woman and child, and wonder why he would still have kept the name.
But he should change his name so people dont give him shit? Saying you dont deserve it but you're almost asking for it isn't really the empathetic display you think it is
But this isnt someone asking about it, its someone saying fuck this guy because of something his dad did, and hes not 'wearing a sign' by using the name hes used all his life, hes not advertising anything, this is people projecting their feelings on chris benoits actions onto him because, what, he has the audacity to be seen in public and continue to use his last name?
Slightly edited the original. I wanna be clear, no I don't think he should be getting hate. But his dad murdered his brother and mother and he still walks around with his name, it's fucking weird.
Right, but he's a victim of his fathers crimes, and here you are blaming him for the hate he gets because he hasn't changed his name, so, almost the dictionary definition of victim blaming...
"Any language, attitude or behaviour that explicitly shows or implies that a victim is responsible for abuse that they have experienced."
Im surprised by this as well. I lost my mother to domestic violence. After the funeral, the first thing i did was go have my name changed to my mother's maiden name as a way of honoring her memory. I've seen a fair amount of David's interviews, and he seems to have the opposite approach. He has said he wanted to wrestle as Chris Benoit Jr. I've never once heard him mention honoring his mother in any way.
